Strange Warmth

"Sir, there is something extremely wrong with the patient in ward six" a nurse said as she walked alongside a doctor as they headed in a certain direction,

"Is it positively wrong or negatively wrong" the doctor said as he took the report from her and began looking at it.

"Well sir, that is the thing, I don't really know how to describe it but the patient was found was several life-threatening injuries, from a fractured arm, to a fractured leg, to nine broken rib bones and a cracked skull but…" the nurse said as the reached the door "but suddenly in less than twenty-four hours he is fine" she said as she pushed opened the door to the ward to reveal a boy who sat up and was taking off his bandage like nothing happened. The doctor and the nurse stood by the door stunned, until Richard raised his head as he saw the doctor:

"Hey doc what's up" he asked as he took off the last set of bandages on his head.

"Uhm, I don't know I should be asking you that" the doctor said as he entered the room dismissing the nurse as he walked in with the clip board that the report was placed in. It wasn't the best of hospital wards but the bed was neatly laid out as the environment although run down, it was still kept clean.

The doctor pulled a chair closer to the bed as he sat "so tell me, uhm Richard, right?" he asked as he got a nod from the boy "great, Richard, tell me how do you feel" he asked as he looked at the boy who had already began rolling up the bandages, "I feel great doc, nothing to worry about"

"You sure about that, like no pain anywhere on your body or anywhere?" the doctor asked one more time,

"Nope, nothing at all" he shook his head.

"Hmmm strange, do you remember anything at all about what happened yesterday?"

"Nope not at all, I just found myself in the hospital today, in fact, how did I get here" Richard asked with a confused expression making the doctor shocked and he shook his head: 'looks like we have got a strange one here today, perhaps he is suffering from concussion due to the earth quake, but still that doesn't explain the insane healing factor that he has, it is inhumane to even think about something like this, I should report this to the superiors but I would just look stupid, no one would ever believe something like this can ever occur, it sounds so out of the movies' the doctor's thoughts were running wild as he tried to make any bit of sense of what happened but nothing added up.

"Hmmmm, looks like you are indeed fine" he said as Richard nodded his head "Ok you know what, here you go" he said as he handed him a card with his details showing that the doctor's name was Nicholas Dale and he wasn't a local of the country, and the name of the hospital was Crossfield Health .

"Doc, I don't really think I would need this, I don't really have enough financially to have a personal Physician" he politely rejected the complimentary card.

"Oh no, take it as a good will from me, in fact you do not need to worry about anything like that" the doctor said as he tried shoving the card in his hand.

"But doc, you don't understand…" he was still trying to talk when the doctor stood up and dusted his lab coat "listen, you don't need to bother about that, if you have any issues medically, make sure you come to this hospital, as long as you show them that card they would attend to you for free" he said with a wink, leaving the boy with a stunned expression "wait, you mean I can get medical services for free, here" he asked again just for confirmation "yup, and not just here, as long as it is this hospital anywhere you would get attended to"

"Uhm, can this cover an extra family member" he asked almost immediately as the question took the doctor off as he composed himself out of the shock placing his hands on his chin taking a thinking posture 'It can't be that bad, right?' he thought "Well if it's just a single family member it would cover as well" he said to which the boy gave a sigh of relief "thanks doc, I really don't know how to repay you"

"Well the only way you can repay me is by doing as I say and coming her anytime you have an issue"

'It would be for your own safety' he thought afterwards "looks, like we are done here, I would be taking my leave, do well to call the nurse to clean up after you when you are about to leave"

DROP

He was talking when his pen fell slipped from his hand as it fell down, he bent to pick it when he suddenly noticed a part of the bed head had melted as though something really hot fell on it. He didn't probe too much because it looked like he had tried to hide it, "So Richard take care" the doctor said as he walked out but on reaching the door he turned back "Oh for the sake of the future just call me Mr. Nick" he said as he walked out.

---

"Phew" that was a close one" he said as soon as the doctor closed the door behind him "I decided to feign ignorance about everything and anything to get him out, it would be a drag telling him about everything, and definitely not about this" he said as he lifted up the pillow revealing the melted part that the doctor saw. "I still don't know what is happening but it just happens" he said as he raised his hands "I was just frustrated and hit the metal bar and out of nowhere my arms caught fire and the heat bent the metal, what the hell is going on" he said as he ran his hand through the melted part of the metal bar and looked at his hands "funny how although it caught on fire I didn't feel in danger, but rather it felt extremely warm, what the hell it going on" he said as he scratched his head when he suddenly open his eyes in shock when a thought ran through his mind "MOM" he said out loud as he jumped off the bed and ran out of the ward. Running through the stairs he didn't mind the stares that the people passing by gave to him because he had only one thought on his mind and it was about his mother "Hello sir" a nurse called as he entered the reception but he ignored her and continued running "Hello sir" she called again loud again but was stunned not because of anything but two reasons which were the fact that he ran at a speed a normal human shouldn't display and that he had just left with the hospital attire on.
