You Do Not Need To Chase Dreams

“Are you being serious?”Lanre asked. “Like, you are asking me to marry you for real?” Lanre added. She found it unbelievable. Who even proposes to a lady a week after knowing her, of it was even up to a week.

“Yes Lanre, I’m proposing to you. I want to have you to myself. I am selfish when it comes to you, so I thought, I could just make you my wife”. K said. Lanre nods her head repeatedly with her hand on her chin as though she was thinking deeply into the matter.

“Kehinde, I can’t marry you! I have a life ahead of me. I have my dreams to catch, I do not want to drop those”. Lanre said to K. But he had prepared himself not to take her no for an answer. Perhaps that was why he never wanted to ask that question apart from the fact that it sounded stupid to his ears.

“Lanre, you do not have to chase your dreams anymore! Let me be your dream! I promise you not to lack anything”. K said to her. She laughed at his statement. She clapped her hands in wonderment. She asked him how he intended to do that.

“Kehinde, you are saying this now, but I am fully aware that no man wants a house wife. No man wants a woman that has nothing. You saying this yourself will still be the one to talk down on me one day. Unless you want to tell me you are a multimillionaire or a billionaire that would not need a working class woman for a wife”. Lanre said.

“Guy, I have high taste. I want to get whatsoever I want. If I marry you having nothing to do, then I may end up drying your pocket. I do not want someone to call me a liability”. Lanre said.

“I can get you whatever you want Lanre, and you won’t wreck me”. K said to her. But she refused. K told her to just pick up the ring in acceptance and he would put it right in her finger. But Lanre was ready for that. “I’m not doing that! I can’t marry you. I still have a life ahead of me. And it is obvious you won’t let me achieve my goals”. Lanre said. She was adamant. But K was also stubborn.

“It is not because I do not want you to, you do not need to chase dreams or achieve any goal. I can cover for the both of us. Just drop everything and be mine! Forget about trying to make it on your own. Let me be your knight”. K said. Lanre shook her head. She has had enough. She was not going to listen anymore. She walked around and picked her clothes that has been neatly folded, but not by her. She started to dress up but K stopped her. He held her close to himself tracing kisses all over her body. Even if it means seducing her into saying yes, he would do so.
