If You Are Not In The Field

The first son gritted his teeth. He felt like dragging the phone from his father’s hand and throwing it on the floor. But he knew better than to do that. Everyone was already expecting money and Lanre’s condition for that was that no one ends the call. It he makes a rash movement, they he could as well consider everyone in the house as his enemies. Or rather he was their enemy. Even his father may tell him to leave the house, he was not in good terms with most of his friends.

Lanre told him that eventually if he gives birth the child will be a drunkard and will end up dead drunk on the streets just like him.

“If I were you, I will go and find a reasonable and legitimate business to do. Find something that will fetch you money and start doing it if you want to command respect. If not, even that little baby in your mother’s hand will grow up to spit in your face”. Lanre said to him. She told him to better make a decision now and pick up his life from misery. Then she spoke to the Naomi afterwards.

Lanre told Naomi since she loved fantasy, she should prepare herself to continually get used and dumped by series of men. Naomi told her she already had five failed relationship. Lanre laughed out loud.

“And you still have that mindset of getting married to a rich man in other to get rich. So if the man goes bankrupt, you go bankrupt as well. And if no rich man marries you, you will wallow in poverty, right?” Lanre asked Naomi. Naomi asked her if she was praying for her not to get what she desired.

“My dear, desires walk with determination and hardwork. If you want to make it, remove that mentality from your head. Learn a hand work so you can afford life for yourself”. Lanre said. Then she moved over to Ayibapreye. She told him to drop that stupid dream of his. She told him the only thing in this life that begins from the top is grave. She told him if he must make it in life, he has to start from somewhere. He has to start playing in a local team. He must practice endlessly and if grace finds him, his dream will come true.

“If you are not in the field, your destiny will also sleep at home. Your dreams will be other people’s reality and you will end up angry with the world and at yourself. But it is all your fault. So you better get that stupid thought about having connection before you make it. Just be smart”. Lanre said. Then she spoke to the remaining children generally. She told them to never think life is going to find them with goodies if they never go in search of the life of good things. She told them to open their ear very well and listen to this very word she was going to tell them.
