I'm A Huge Fan Your Excellency

Lanre kept looking at the message appearing on her phone screen. She wondered if she should heed this invitation or she should just decline. But then, wouldn’t it be too rude? This is someone that intends to help her. Perhaps she should just go and see if she could get any information. She needed to know if she was just competing with Ify or she had other people to contend with. She decided she would go. It was just for a weekend. She would ask Anita where they were actually going so she would know what she would take with her. But for now, she has a mission to accomplish.

Lanre was actually waiting for the Governor’s wife who was having a meeting with the wife of the Governor of Benue state. It seems that the two ladies wanted to do a program together. But Lanre doubts the program would run without them getting money out of it and shipping it into their personal pocket.

They have been two hours talking before Her Excellency Olasile called Lanre to join them on the same table.

“Meet my PA, Olanrewaju Olayinka”. The woman said introducing Lanre to Amina, The wife of the Governor of Benue state. Lanre shook hands with the lady which was unexpected. But since Amina didn’t want to appear rude, she shook hands with Lanre.

“Your personal assistant is young. Does she have any political ambition? And why do you need one like this?” The woman asked Olasile.

“She is actually in charge of my wardrobe and my looks, makeup and you know, she gives me advise on what to do to keep my husband away from all these small small girls that tend to take away our husband’s attention away from us”. Olasile said. Amina could now see the kind of personal assistant Lanre was to the Governor’s wife. She didn’t care much about these things. She didn’t care if her husband married twenty wives. As far as she is concerned, she is the first lady and no one can take her place.

“How old are you?” Amina asked Lanre. Lanre told her that she was twenty two, but will be twenty three by July. The woman nods her head. Then she asked Lanre what was her educational background.

“I am a graduate yet to do my NYSC. Although I already registered. I graduated with first class from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, department of Mass Communication”. Lanre said. The woman smiled at her. But her words were sarcasm which Lanre did not need to strain before she would understand.

“Mass communication, wow! You graduated with first class, then you must be proud cause even a ten year old would graduate with first class in that course”. Amina said. Lanre smiled politely at the woman.

“I know, that’s why you graduated with second class lower from history and international studies when you did. I’m a huge fan Your Excellency”. Lanre said. Olasile could not understand the banter going on. She was not one used to sarcasm. Neither did she understand it quite well.
