He Is My Classmate

“Was that uncle Christian?” Eno’s excited voice reaches Lanre’s ears. Lanre asked her if she has been eaves dropping. Eno shook her head. Lanre didn’t bother to say anything. There was no doubt Eno overheard her conversation with Christian on the phone.

“Eno, when is your exams starting?” Lanre asked. Eno told her it was in a month’s time. Lanre expressed her relief. Then she asked Eno if she was able to cope in school judging from the fact that she had jumped a class. Eno told her she was doing well. And that she was also making up for the things she didn’t get to learn.

“I had to do that. I didn’t see a reason why you should remain senior secondary one or stay in two when you are already sixteen. It’s a good thing to finish on time”. Lanre said. Eno told Lanre it was not totally bad. And that there were people older than her in her class. Lanre nods her head. She told Eno she did not want that for her.

Eno was about leaving when Lanre called her attention.

“So, about the party? When are you planning on telling me? Even if you have no intent of going, I am suppose to know about it”. Lanre said. Eno asked Lanre what party she was talking about. Lanre gave Eno a suspicious look.

“I did not go to any party. I do not know what you are talking about”. Eno denied. Lanre clapped her hand over her mouth. It seems Eno really has no idea of what she was talking about.

“Eno, come sit down”. Lanre said tapping on a spot right next to her on the couch. Eno went to sit next to Lanre.

“So, I got to find out that somebody invited you for a birthday party. I was wondering why you were yet to mention it. I did not know you forgot about it”. Lanre said.

“Oh! It’s today! I totally forgot about it”. Eno said.

“Is it a she or a he?” Lanre asked. Eno frowned finding the question funny.

“Since you found out, I bet you already know it is a boy. Why are you testing me?” Eno asked. Lanre told her she was not testing her and that it was not possible for her to know if Isaac Ademola was a boy or not. She only saw the card and not the person.

“Fine! He is my classmate. He invited me to his birthday party. I do not think I want to go”. Eno said. Lanre asked her why she would not want to go to a birthday party she was invited to.

“Eno, I do not want you to live your life in solitude. Greatness will go with you. Tega will take you guys there”. Lanre said.

“Just come back on time. And don’t leave Greatness’ side while you are there”. Lanre said to Eno.

“This is worst!” Eno sighed. She would prefer not going than to be tailed like a little princess.
