Resonance II

"Abnormal" is the word Dr. Aile used to describe Calyx's resonance growth a couple of years ago.

There are typically four types of resonance that a Quasar can possess. The first of which is kinetic resonance, which is the basic resonance that most Quasars possess. This is what gives them their superhuman abilities.

Having kinetic resonance is what makes a Quasar stronger, faster, sharper, and overall physically more capable than most of the universe's population.

Depending on the level of Quasar, this advantage in physicality can range from being fifty times faster and stronger than a human to strength capable of continental destruction and speed surpassing that of even spaceships.

Kinetic resonance is the basic for any Quasar, but a resonance even greater is Elemental Resonance, the ability to control one or more of the four basic elements of wind, fire, earth, and water.

This ability could range from setting buildings on fire to burning entire worlds, a habit associated with Alkarai, the Inferno Bringer, one of the few legendary Quasars, who had reached the farthest depths of Exar.

Quasars who possessed Elemental Resonance were more rare than those who possessed kinetic resonance alone, and most Quasars with elemental resonance also possessed kinetic resonance, making them have double resonance, a rare type of Quasar.

However, even more rare was mental resonance, Quasars with greatly enhanced mental abilities, such as telepathy, telekinesis, precognition, and enhanced intuition. Individuals with high Mental Resonance could even access and manipulate the thoughts and actions of others.

It was an extremely strong and dangerous ability, and like elemental resonance, those who possessed it most of the time had double resonance, also possessing Kinetic resonance. However, in extremely rare cases, 1 percent of Quasars possessed all three.

Then there's the fourth and possibly the rarest confirmed type of resonance: spatial resonance. Quasars possessing this were capable of manipulating and controlling space and time. Individuals with high Spatial Resonance can teleport, create portals, manipulate gravity, and even manipulate time to certain extents.

This was an extremely rare type of resonance and arguably the most powerful, with the number of Quasars possessing it greatly under one percent. Even rarer were Quasars who possessed all four resonances, with only three ever recorded in history.

This was the normal and officially accepted list and description of resonance. However, there was one that is left out, from the singular fact that most don't believe it exists, and no one officially possesses it.

Quasar resonance, the ability to harness the full potential of Quasarite, allowing individuals to access its most powerful and dangerous properties. It is even said that those who possess it can use all four resonances easily.

Yet it was only a myth to most.

So far, from Calyx's scheduled visits to the Quasar HQ, Dr. Aile had discovered Calyx possessed two of the four officially known resonances: Kinetic and Elemental, the most common pair.

However, his growth was far from common, so much so that it is deemed dangerous. If Calyx became too powerful before receiving any training, both he and the people around him could be in serious danger due to his powers.

Although Calyx didn't think so and believed he had great control over his abilities, his words fell on deaf ears. Hence, precautions were taken, and he was made to come to HQ every month so his resonance could be suppressed.

So far, it had been six months since Calyx went for this appointment, intentionally avoiding the HQ as to not have to undergo the suppression.

In the room where Calyx and Haze sat quietly watching, the large screen displayed an array of images, some of Quasars wielding various weapons and others of ethervores, while Hal went on and on, telling Haze and Calyx about Quasars—most things they already knew.

"Understand?" Hal asked after a long rambling session, unable to hide her adoration for Quasars. She received nods of confirmation from Calyx and Haze.

"Good, then we'll meet after school and head to the Quasars HQ," Halaine informed them.

"Do we have to do that today?" Calyx asked, his hesitancy to revisit that place showing a bit.

"Hmm, I really thought you both would be as excited as I am about visiting the place. If you guys don't want to, we do—" Hal began, sensing Calyx's unwillingness to go.

"No, we'd love to go, we're just a bit tired today is all," Haze said, not wanting to upset Hal.

"Maybe I'll reschedule then," Halaine suggested, taking into account that they did seem tired. However, it was probably from all the running they needed to do to get to school before the gates closed.

"How about tomorrow evening? I think the tour is on for a whole week," Calyx said.

"Oh, that's right. How'd you know?" Halaine asked.

"I had planned for us to go too," Calyx fibbed.

"Alright, great! We'll do it tomorrow evening. See you guys after school," Halaine said as she disconnected her phone from the screen before walking over to pick up her bag.

She gave one final wave to both boys before leaving the room.

"Seems you're finally gonna get suppressed," Haze said, causing Calyx to sink further into his chair with a sigh.

"No, we have to prevent that tomorrow at all costs," Calyx said.
