Chapter 26

(MC POV)

By the time we finally made our way down to the coast, the snow was getting thicker. If our armors were normal, we would already be buried under the snow.

The sea in front of us was rough, full of sea foam that smelled of salt and fish.

Sudden movements of the Kraken's tentacles began to appear above the surface of the water. The tentacles were four times the size of a human and had huge fangs protruding from them.

The Kraken suddenly emerged from the waves, letting out a roar. Its tentacles extended to incredible lengths, while its sharp fangs gleamed in the sunlight.

I jump into the air, swinging the sword hard at one of the tentacles. The sword cut off the tip of the tentacle, but it didn't slow the Kraken down.

Leman threw a spear at the Kraken. The spear passed through the moist flesh and returned to its caster, but the Kraken again did not flinch.

I move quickly avoiding the movements of the Kraken's tentacles that were aimed at me.

Another tentacle swooped in Leman's direction, but he reacted quickly, turning with ease and dodging the blow.

At the same time, using the fact that the Kraken turned its attention to Leman, I cut off part of the tentacle with one movement of the cat, but the rest of the tentacles still continued to strike frantically.

A howl of pain and rage ripped through the air. The Kraken was wounded, but still not defeated.

This could take some time.

"We need to get our moves together" I ordered.

Leman just answered me with a nod.

Time for the strategy we learned in combat training.

Without a word, we moved in perfect balance. We made quick movements, alternating between attack and defense.

That was just the beginning of our tactics. I deliver quick and accurate sword strikes, alternating them with defenses as I move around the Kraken. Leman speared through the hard goat with ease.

The fight continued. The Kraken tried to strike with its tentacles, but we moved quickly, finding holes in its defenses and taking advantage of every opportunity.

We were constantly moving, dodging the impact of the Kraken's tentacles with a masterful performance. Our speed and physiology combined with years of training made us completely impervious to the Kraken's attacks.

Leman caught the moment as a tentacle approached he. He used the Spear of Dionysus at full power and aimed it at the oncoming tentacle. The spear at full power completely shattered the tentacle, reducing it to burnt flesh.

The Kraken roared in pain, but that didn't stop his attacks.

Finally, after a few minutes I see an open wound on his body. I gripped my sword tightly and pointed it at the biggest wound.

Lightning fast and at full power, I drive my sword deep into the beast's wound. There was silence for a few minutes, and then the giant body began to collapse before our eyes.

The Kraken gave one last scream of pain and rage. A cloud of dark liquid spread through the colossal body, while his pale body slowly lost its strength.

The silence was quickly broken by a fire that broke out and quickly consumed the entire Kraken, the fire burning even in the presence of water.

This is really too easy.

I didn't get tired at all.

"Nice shot, Dad," Leman said cheerfully.

"We are too powerful, can't you see that it only took us 15 minutes to kill the most terrible beast of Fenris" I said, letting the disappointment show in my voice.

"True, but people won't see it that way. This Kraken has been terrorizing this area for some time, and when we leave, the saga writers will say that after a long and hard fight, we killed the biggest and strongest Kraken," Leman replied calmly, sheathing his spear.

I sheath my sword.

This Kraken was an average member of its species.

I can feel the temperature dropping sharply, and the wind has become even stronger. The air was filled with tiny ice crystals that cut everything around them like paper scissors.

The snow began to fall more and more heavily, creating a thick blanket on the ground.

"We must return to the castle," I said, as the snow fell around us "The castle is near, we have well fortified walls to protect us from this storm. Besides, it is warm there and we have everything we need. Although we can survive this storm unscathed, there is no need for us to stay here in this weather."

Leman nodded and spoke "I understand your thinking," he replied, "But maybe we should seek shelter in a cave. Caves are natural shelters from storms like this. On the bright side, we can find more time to spend with each other without our duties getting in the way ."

He wants me to spend more time with him.

"But what if everyone freaks out about our absence and launches a full-scale search for us?" I asked worriedly.

Leman looked away from my face and looked into the distance. "I understand your concerns," he said softly "But at the end of the day, this is our time together. If we go back to the castle, our adventure ends. Where is your adventure spirit?"

This time I will please him, I have nothing to lose.

When our eyes met, I answered finally "Okay. Let's go to the cave".

"Follow me," replied Leman, throwing himself into a full marathon in the snow.

The wind was blowing everything in front of it, and the ice was cracking under our feet as we ran across the snow. His hideous howl echoed around.

Trees bent under the weight of snow and ice, broke and were uprooted. As a sign of this destruction, branches and fallen trees lay everywhere. The terrifying sound of snapping branches and falling trees overpowered the wind, like an angry beast seeking its prey.

We finally managed to reach the ledge, where the wind was a little lighter. Although the storm did not stop, its strength was reduced.

Leman stopped for a few seconds, looking at something, and then continued a few steps to the place where the cave could be seen.

"Let's go there," he said firmly.

I didn't have time to answer and he had already entered the cave.

I crawl through the narrow opening in the cave and immediately feel the warmth. The cave spread heat and light, and at the end was a hot spring of thermal water that created a little steam.

"Make yourself comfortable, father," Leman said worriedly.

His face looked worried as if he was thinking about his future.

"Son, what's bothering you?" I asked putting my hand on his shoulder.

There was silence for a few moments and then he answered.

"We need to talk about something important" he said struggling to find the right words.

"What's bothering you, I'm listening," I answered worriedly as I looked him in the eye.

How I didn't realize that before.

The Kraken in the right place, the snowstorm that hits almost immediately after the hunt and finally the cave in the right place.

My arrival was a well-conceived conspiracy.

He calculated and thought of everything.

'But what worries him?' I wondered.
