36 Where’s the scabbard?

The leader of the pack - the only one standing still breathing out of the five of them who came - was stunned and watched his brethren perish before his very eyes. He didn't move despite wanting to, or rather he couldn't, seeing the rapier sword watching him with its 'point' pointing towards him.

He felt that a hand was clutching his neck, and he couldn't do anything as one wrong move could result in his death. He could only feel helpless while watching his brethren glance at him as if asking, 'Why aren't you doing anything?' Before they closed their eyes grudgingly, they couldn't accept what befall them.

Their harem was still waiting for them, waiting for the day the mating season happened, and they could have a kingdom of children. They were waiting for that, yet what awaited them was their unexpected death. They couldn't accept that, and they pushed the blame on their leader for the cause of their death.

However, a dead person tells no tales, so what's the point of pushing the blame on others when they are already dead? Furthermore, it was their leader - the only one alive who could tell what happened to their tribe. He could fabricate truth with lies, and their harem could belong to him. They could only hold their grudge at their afterlife.

Now that they were dead, the crimson-colored rapier sword switched its attention to the pack leader, standing hundreds of meters away from him. Although the rapier sword wanted to kill him, the power she had has limited both in range and the capacity to maintain it. What she could only do was intimidate the pack leader.

Furthermore, her aim showed some development, as the leader wolves felt that the menacing hand clutching his neck – was released. The former didn't hesitate to run between its tails, as if the speed of his run could bring him into, depending on his life and death.

When she saw the wolf finally run off, the scarlet rapier sword turned dimly lit crimson to the point that it lost its brightness, signifying that it was in slumber. The crimson-colored rapier sword was finally awakened, from the half-rank spirit weapon now turned into a legally recognized Spirit rank weapon, which the rank was above the mortal.

Dawn came as it dimly lit the forest. A young man could be seen opening his eyelids before closing them again immediately as soon as the sun ray hit his pupils. Behind him was a weapon resting with its 'point' in the opposite direction, afraid that it would harm the owner from its sharpness.

Using his open palm to cover the sun ray, he opened his eyelids slowly while his senses were finally triggered. He could hear birds chirping and leaves fluttering from the wind here and there. Furthermore, he could feel the tranquility brought by the jungle, which was completely different from the modern earth: Full of pollution such as the air, sound, etc.

The young man sat up while turning his head left and right, determining his current location. He then noticed a rapier sword weapon lying beside him, and it was at this moment his memory finally kicked in, as yesterday's event flooded his brain.

Reaching the rapier sword hilt with his right hand, he immediately brought it before him. He caressed it as he could determine the difference in its appearance from before. Moreover, he could feel a strong connection between them, as if their life and death were bounded and could be decided by each other. However, he was the only one who could control it, not the other way around.

While he scrutinized it, he murmured with a slight ecstasy mixed within his voice, "Why do the connection between us much stronger than the link between my flying knives? When I reached Basic mastery with the flying knives, it was as if we shared the same body.

However, what I'm feeling currently with the rapier sword is that we are bounded with souls! I can even decide whether he should leave or die right now!"

He was elated when he felt the soul bound with the rapier sword before him. The difference in terms of quality and their connection between the flying knives and the rapier sword was tremendous, and the latter could outweigh horrendously the former in every way, and even in terms of range attack, with the rapier sword before him, it wouldn't be a problem.

He stood up while walking towards the nearer tree. Standing before it, he took a distance, and when he thought that it was enough. He made a thrusting form in his body, before thrusting the rapier sword to the thick rounded trunk of the tree. His expression didn't change even though what he does could possibly break the rapier sword if it couldn't handle the thickness of the trees.

Swoosh! Pierce!

It thrust the trunk to the other side like tofu, and the sword's appearance didn't change in the slightest. Although the inside of the trunked was full of water and its mineral nutrients, it didn't stick its liquid body to the sword, afraid that it would implicate its exquisite appearance.

When Clover saw the result, his smile turned wide as he pulled out the rapier sword before him, and kissed it again and again until he was satisfied.

"My loving angel! You are my only son who will accompany me on reaching the peak. Let's attain Godhood together?" He made a declaration; not only to himself but before the weapon before him.

The rapier sword, although it lost consciousness as it was still in slumber. However, when he felt the desire of its master, it hummed lightly with dim light, signifying that it agreed with the owner of its own ambition.

Seeing the response of the rapier sword in his hands, Clover couldn't contain the surging happiness in his emotion, which he took it out by jumping like an idiot!

It was not long before he realized that something was amiss.

"Where's the scabbard?"

=====

If you're wondering why I use 'he' in pronouncing the rapier sword instead of 'she', it was because the MC didn't know its gender yet, and assumed it was a boy.
