Chapter 2

After Fran and Stella finished their conversation Stella flew off with her wind magic.

Fran: I guess I should start going now before the other people that live here show up. It would be more trouble than it's worth to explain what happened here. From the looks of it I just need to climb down the mountain with those stairs and I'll be on the ground. Actually before I go I wonder where Stella killed the real guide. If she killed them wouldn't there be some sort of sign of battle I doubt they would go down without a fight. But could the guide possibly not have any magic to resist? Even if they couldn't resist, where did Stella leave their body and how did she leave no signs of killing her? ... I should stop thinking about this. I'm contradicting myself. I shouldn't be wasting my time on this when I don't have enough information to come up with a conclusion.

Fran scans the area around him to see if there's any sign of their body before he leaves but he can't spot anything that stood out besides the corpses of the people he met a few moments ago.

Fran: No signs of It, nothing I can do then. I should start moving now. There should be a city or village nearby since Stella said she would lead the way and I wouldn't imagine it would lead us to the middle of nowhere. Then again she could have just said that to make it seem she was going to lead us back then. But overthinking this won't do me any favors so I might as well just walk and see where it leads me to. Hopefully what Stella said wasn't a lie though.

Fran climbed down the stairs then walked for about 4 hours in the direction that Stella had flown away before reaching a mountain that he needed to climb. When he reached the top he was able to spot a town not too far away which was perfect since it was starting to turn dark. It took him about another hour to finally reach the town. From the looks of the town it didn't look to be as advanced as it was before in his world so he didn't think they would have anything like a hotel so they probably only have inns here. The town was of a decent size so it would take a while to go look for one. He decided to ask someone for directions. He spotted a lady that was walking so he went and asked her for directions.

Fran: "Do you know if there's any inns around here that I could stay at?"

Lady: "There's an inn not that far from here. If you walk down that road and then take the third right you should find it."

Fran: "Thank you, have a good night."

Lady: ". . ."

Fran: Something about this place gives me a weird vibe when walking around. Same with that did that lady. She looked at me weirdly as if she was sizing me up. Why was that? Is it because my clothes are different but that wouldn't explain the atmosphere of this place. Maybe I'll figure out why once I know the place a bit more so I'll hold off on thinking about it too much without any information.

Fran followed the lady's directions and arrived at the inn. He went inside and went to the receptionist to ask for a room.

Fran: "Can I get a room for one."

Receptionist: "Yes we have room 8 available on the second floor that would be 8 Dollars."

Fran: Oh I forgot how do I even get money out of the bank thing Stella never explained how I'm supposed to do that. "Excuse me, I don't know how I take money out of the bank. Could you tell me how I'm supposed to do it?"

Receptionist: "Wait could you perhaps be one of the new 8 people that get summoned each year?! I heard it was going to happen soon."

Fran: "Ya I just got here around the afternoon so I'm not that knowledgeable on how this world works yet."

Receptionist: "So what side did you choose?"

Fran: "I chose God's side."

Receptionist: "Really? That's nice."

Fran: "Would that be a problem if I wasn't?"

Receptionist: "No i was just curious. Not like it would make a difference they aren't all that different anyways."

The receptionist whispered those words so Fran wasn't able to catch what she said.

Receptionist: "So you're the only one that joined God's side that's unusual."

Fran: "Well no, the other ones that chose God's side got killed soon after."

Receptionist: "Really!? That sucks just after coming here as well. That's a shame. So how come only you survived?"

Fran: "Just got left alive on a whim." Why is this lady so energetic to someone she just met? I guess that's her personality. Actually could it be because I'm new to the war? I guess since only 8 people are summoned a year it's an uncommon thing for someone new.

Receptionist: "Well at least you survived and better yet you didn't know the ones that died it would have hurt a lot more if they were people you knew." She stopped for a moment after saying that but quickly tried to get back on topic. "A-anyways to take money out of the bank you say settings, then say bank and then say the amount you want to withdraw."

Fran: "Settings, bank, withdraw eight dollars, here's the money." I wonder why money just pops up from thin air from just that command.

Receptionist: "Thank you and here's the key to your room. By the way, do you know how to use magic yet?"

Fran: "No I haven't gotten the chance to learn how to use it yet but I do plan on learning how to use it."

Receptionist: "There's an old guy at the edge of town that teaches people how to use magic so you might want to ask him if he can teach you. Although it all depends if you meet his standards because he seems to be picky on who he teaches so don't get your hopes up."

Fran: "Ok I'll go tomorrow then thank you for the information."

Receptionist: "Seems like I've kept you here for a long time. You probably want to go to your room already so goodnight."

Fran: "Not at all thank you for helping me and I hope you have a goodnight."

He took the key and headed towards his room once he entered it he laid down on the bed.

Fran: I guess I should go to sleep early and get some rest for tomorrow.
