One.

"Hudson??!"

"What?!"

"Go get your sister!"

"Ughh!!"

"Or she'll fall down the stairs like last week"

Melanie heard that almost everyday.

She grabbed her bag and put it on her lap as she waited for her twin,Hudson to help her down the stairs.

He knocked on the door, and when Melanie replied,he walked in and smiled at her,he walked behind her and gently pushed the wheelchair out of her room.

"Good morning Hudson" she said as she put her phone in her bag.

"Good morning sis" he said

She chuckled as they got to the dining table.

"Good morning darling!" Her dad greeted as he sipped his coffee.

"Morning dad" she said as she stared at the table.

"Honey! It's getting heated. Mr Jameson has replied!" she heard her mom yell from the kitchen.

Her mom was probably eavesdropping on the neighbours' argument.

With curiosity, she propelled towards the kitchen and saw her mom's ears on the kitchen window, listening to the argument in the next house.

She cleared her throat, and her mom,out of shock, looked back.

"It's not right to do that" she said to her mom as she stretched to grab her plate of cereal off the counter, but her hand didn't get it.

Her mom sighed and handed it to her.

"I'm sorry, but their fights are so heated and entertaining"

"But you don't have to listen," she said as she propelled out of the kitchen. "They may say some personal things you're not supposed to hear"

"Don't be such a lamer, baby sis. The Jamesons' arguments are never gonna get old" Hudson replied

"We're twins,how am I your baby sis?"

"I'm two seconds older. According to mom and of course,my intelligence quotient"

Melanie rolled her eyes as she ate her cereal

"Honey, how is school going for you?" Her dad asked.

"You don't always have to ask me that question like I'm some child" she said as she dropped her plate on the table.

She propelled towards the living room as her dad walked behind her.

"I'm just-"

"No. I'm doing just fine" she said

"But you need to stop by at Doctor Michelle's later on"

"Hudson! I'm ready to leave"

"Are you listening,Melanie?" Her mom asked as Melanie sighed.

"Why do I need to stop by at Miss Michelle's?"

"Because I scheduled today for you" her mom said.

Melanie just sighed as she closed her eyes.

"Sure mom" She said.

Hudson walked into the living room with his bag and his headphones.

"Shall we?" He asked, wiping the leftover milk from his cheek.

"Be good!" Her mom yelled as they left the living room.

Before Hudson closed the living room door,Melanie heard a very heavy sigh escape her mom's lips.

About five minutes of their precious time was spent trying to get Melanie out of the car.

When Hudson was done,he helped her to her Pre-Calculus class

"Thank you" she smiled and then furrowed her brows at the realization of something.

"Where are you going?" She asked as he headed for the door

He didn't reply directly

"Somewhere. I'll be back before geometry!" He said as he walked out to avoid the teacher seeing him.

Melanie sighed as she got her notebook from her backpack.

She stared at the class with a sigh.

Of course, these were her classmates, but were they really?

Did they care about her?

"Miss Martins. You seem to be lost," her teacher said. "Do you mind explaining to the class what the unknown is when solving a quadratic equation?"

Melanie sighed and closed her eyes again.

She stared around, and all she saw were eyes staring into her soul with no pity or hospitality.

They were expecting her answer, and although she knew it,it was kinda hard to say it.

She closed her eyes as she answered the question.

"A quadratic equation is any equation that can be written in the form ax² + bx + c = 0, where x is the variable to be solved; a, b, and c are numbers; and a is not 0," Mel stopped to remember. "It's the squared term (ax²) that makes it a quadratic equation," she sighed as she opened her eyes a little. The faces weren't welcoming so she behaved like a scared cat and hastily closed her eyes before continuing" she took another deep breath "Solving a quadratic equation means finding any values for x where the equation goes to 0. Quadratic equations may have two possible answers, one possible answer, or none. If you replace x with a member of the solution set, then the quadratic equation will simplify to 0" she said and opened her eyes to see the teacher with a slight smile

"Thank you Miss Martins," he said to her. "She just summarized quadratic equations so please jot down what she just said before we proceed. I'm moving round to see what each person has written"

It was time for lunch. Melanie's locker was the one at the bottom,so it was quite easy for her to get her stuff, but if her stuff was deep in,then she'd just call Hudson. His locker was right above hers,so things were pretty easy.

She propelled towards the cafeteria when she saw a crowd of students walk towards her.

Uh oh.

She was gonna get caught in a Students' hurricane.

There was someone in their middle

She tried to see who it was,but all she saw was a whiff of brown hair stand out from the crowd

The person was tall.

She closed her eyes as the students walked by her, some even pushing her backwards.

After thirty seconds,it was over.

She huffed as she stretched to get some of her stuff which had fallen on the floor.

She tamed her hair, and proceeded to the cafeteria.

Melanie got her food and went to the last table as she brought out the novel she had been reading since last week. She was really enjoying Brew Books.

She continued to have her peanut butter cookies as she read.

She watched the crowd buy some things and leave,in the same manner they've been walking around.

Melanie chuckled to herself as she watched every last one of them walk out the door.

"How stupid" she chuckled.

They were probably running around some new guy. Or possibly a female. Whoever it was, they were following the person like the person was the Queen Of England.

Thanks for reading!!
