Chapter 26 Badass Girl

     “Ok then” the leader said, “I think

he has a point, let’s head home

 then”. Ben was silence all the

way home, making Miriam

uncomfortable around him.

     “Did I do the right thing? Or

 should I return his money to him?

“No, I will not return that money

remember how  they all treat you

like a rag, is time to make something

 out of my life. don’t look at his

face again”, so she turn her face

from ben and face the other way.

Getting home everyone was so

happy  to see them in one piece .

     “How did it go?, did you see my

 son? Mr. Jackson ask the

search team.

     “Unfortunately we did not see

him but I believe this belongs to

him, one of the men shows Mr.

Jackson ken’s passport, which

 means that ken  indeed is involve

 in the accident.

Mr. Jackson grab the passport from

 the man, looked at it and shook his

 head, he then ask them not to tell

 anyone about it, because of ken’s

mother, he did not want her

collapsing again.

     “Yes sir”.

     “Ok meet my secretary for your

  balance.

     “ Ok sir, thank you sir. They said

 and left.

Tina came running to see if they

have seen her son, and where

is he?,

 Why is he not with them?. Maybe

  he’s dead.

     “Ben.. ben.. where is my son?

Did  you see him?” Mr. Jackson

 held his wife and consoles her.

     “I will find him, he’s still alive I

 know so.”

     “But how? The men you sent

are  back without my son how will

you find him?”

     “Don’t worry I promise you, I will  

send another search team this time

 they will go to every village and

 town near that place and look

for him.”

“Upon hearing that, a thought flash

 through her head, “yes, I can go

 to  the nearby village where that

plane fell and look for my son, yes

they might have seen him and took

him to their village, if not he would

have been among the dead people

brought  back by the investigating

 team that went out first. She stop

crying and went back to her

questers

     “Call me Miriam she order”.

Miriam arrival to Tina’s room in

 less than a second.

     “Yes ma”.

      “You are among those who

went out to look for my son right?,”

     “Yes ma”.

      “Fine, tell me everything that

 you saw, I think ben is not telling me everything.”

     “Everything ben said was the

truth, we search and search but

 no sign of ken, ben almost lost

his life too.

     “What? Oh my God”.

      “But I saved him”.

     “What happen?”

     “He fell into a pit and was fast

sinking into the mud pit, but I was  

lucky to find him on time and pull

him out”.

     “Oh.. dear, thank you so much”.

Tina said and hug Miriam so tightly,

“Thank you for going with him,

what would have become of the

Jackson’s family by now?, We

would have become a laughing

stock. You are the best maid I have

 ever had.

     “What?, Miriam couldn’t believe

 her eyes. This people have never  

considered her to be a human?

Not to talk of hugging her.

     “This is not normal, I need to

 get away from her, God please

make  her stop…

     “Miriam,

     “Yes ma,

     “You are going to take me down

 to that place, I want to go and look

 for my son. Please don’t say no”.

     “Ma, is not about me saying no,

is  about the funny looking people I

 saw in that forest, is dangerous

  for you and me to be there alone.

     “What funny looking people?”

     “I don’t know who they are, I ran

 and hid when I saw them, I was

looking for ben when I saw them. So

when I finally came out of my

 hiding, I saw ben in a pit full with

mud, that’s when I pull him out.

I believe he must have seen them

 and hid himself there.

     “If my son is still in that forest,

with  those funny looking people,

then what am I doing here? I will

go and bring my son home”

Tina said.

Miriam doesn’t know how best to  

discourage her madam any

more.

     “But wait, nothing goes for

nothing  right? No.. Miriam don’t

be stupid, this is your boss, you

can’t play that kind of game with

 her, is too dangerous to try, she

 said to herself.

     “Miriam you will take me there ok.

     “But ma, we may both die there,

is too dangerous.

     “Who cares? Then we die there

do you hear me.

Miriam opens her mouth wide,

what? we die there? I told you this

people  don’t care for others apart

 from themselves.

     “Ma, I don’t think I can go with you.”

     “Why?”

     “Because am the only child of

 my parents, she lied, and no body

to take  care of them if I die there,

well, except we keep enough money

for them even though we.. I mean

 if I die there, then they will have

 something to fall back on.

     “Ok, so how much are we talking

 about?

     “Like.., Five Million….. She

said and

 pause to see her boss reaction.

     “Just five million?”

     “Yes ma”

     “Fine, give me your account

number,

We leave tomorrow.”

     “What? My account number?

She didn’t believe herself.

     “Yes, or don’t you have any?”

     “Yes.. I do.”

      “So what are you waiting for? Give

 It to me.

Miriam john, she calls out her

details without pausing.

     “There you go, your five million,

we leave tomorrow.”

     “Ok ma, thank you ma, Miriam

 said

 bowing like ten times in a roll.

tomorrow ma.

But what will I tell my husband

so he can let me go?.

Miriam figured out that Mrs. Tina

was having a hard time coming up

 with a lie, so she offer to help her.

Why don’t you tell your husband,

you want to go and see your mom.

My mom is dead, 

oh sorry, what about your father

they are both dead, what about

your aunty, 

my aunty, yes your aunty Miriam

 said looking at her and hoping that

 she is not dead too, but why is

everyone she had dead, and her

 son dead too, shut-up Miriam who

told you ken is dead, she shouted

 at herself inwardly   

yes, my aunty, yes, thank you

 Miriam, you are a genius, she hug

 her for the second time, you are

the only genius I have as a maid

 Miriam thank you, you can now go

back, let me prepared for

tomorrow.

On her way to her room Miriam

 couldn’t believe her luck, what

just happen? Five million?  Plus

two million? Wow, Mrs. Tina you

are wrong, I will no longer be your

 genius maid but I will be a genius

 millionaire you wait and see,

hahaha yes, yes, I made it.

And what did you made this time.

Miriam looked at her co. maid and

 laugh out loud, never mind my

 sweet heart you will never

 understand she pat her on the

shoulders and enter her room, lock

the door and start laughing over

and over again. 

Ben keep thinking about what

 happen.

What if Miriam did not stubbornly

 follow them, what could have

 become to him?, what would have

become of  his mother? 

This thoughts keep running through

 his mind am he started seeing

Miriam as a life saver, but she is

 not normal, that girl is mad, but

anyways her madness has

 somehow save me from

 been killed.

Gina heard that the people who

went to look for ben are back so

she rush to the Jackson house to

 get the information.

“where is he?. She ask.

Ken has not been found his mother announce to Gina.

Ohh.. noo.. Ken where are you?

she start crying all over again.

Ken’s mom could only hold her,

please be careful of the baby

 inside of you.

Ken would not like it if you lost

his baby in the process of crying

 too much.

Do you think he will come back?

She ask ken’s mom. 

Yes am sure he will come back

dear don’t worry he will.

She said but then she did want

Gina to hear about her plans of

going to the forest to look for ken

because she will insist on

coming too.

Go home, and take care of yourself,

I will sent message across once

 we hear any news about him.

Ok, thanks mom, she said and left.

How did it go Charity ask Gina

once she comes back , same

old story, they’ve  not seen him.

Stop worrying you hurt yourself,

if only you will take my advice and

get rid of this baby everything will

 go back to normal, just tell them

you lost the baby.

No I can’t do that, fine, let’s forget

 about it, I didn’t tell you anything. 

Gina didn’t like Charity that much,

that is why she always prefer

Patrick than Charity,  she seem

to be giving her mad advice or

may because she is more experience

 in such things.
