The Ghoulish Haunted Mansion: Chapter 10

Once they got to the bottom, the zombies surrounded them, and they split into two groups. The boys went in one direction with the spell book, and the girls went in another with Violet. The boys ran for the gates and tried to open them, but they were locked. Pablo said, “We can’t get out.” Meanwhile, the zombies surrounded the girls. Susan then threw the beads from her necklace over her shoulder, and the zombies slipped and fell on them. Then, the girls and Violet ran for their lives.

Meanwhile, Alex punched one zombie away while Bobby tried to avoid another and then pushed him down. Mike took a good look at one of the zombies and recognized him. Mike said, “Hey, that zombie looks like the guy in the portrait the ghost ball vanished into.” Pablo said, “You’re right. Maybe all these zombies are the people who investigated the mansion, too.” Tom said, “Just like Violet said.” The zombies surrounded the boys, but Helga threw the needle and thread she had at them and wrapped three of them together. Then she pulled them down, and the boys ran towards the girls. Mike said, “Thanks, Helga.” Once they were all back in one group, the zombies came back and surrounded them again. Before they got them, the zombies heard a moaning sound, and so did the kids. Then the zombies went away and left the kids and Violet alone. Pablo said, “They’re not coming after us?” Violet said, “Of course not; one of the spirits is calling them back.” Emma said, “Thank goodness. At least now we’re safe.”

After losing the zombies, Bobby, Emma, Lou, and Mike got lifted into the air. Emma said, “Get us down.” Susan grabbed Emma but couldn’t pull her down. Then Lou kicked Mike. Lou said, “Sorry, I can’t help it; something’s controlling me. Wait, the voodoo dolls.” Then Emma punched Susan and said, “Sorry.” Then Bobby got lifted higher and spun around in circles. Then, they all dropped to the ground and landed on each other. Emma said, “Thank goodness.” Lou said, “And I think I know how it happened.” Bobby said, “Quick, tell me.” Lou said, “Someone used voodoo dolls of us to control us.” The others couldn’t believe what Lou had said. Then they helped them all up, and they all ran back to the house.

A toy truck drove ahead when they got inside, and they all ran for their lives. The toy truck drove over Sam’s foot and hurt her. Sam said, “Ouch.” Then Sam got mad, picked the car up, and threw it against the wall. Once the truck hit the wall, it broke into pieces. After the vehicle smashed into pieces, the portrait behind them looked down at them. Then, the person in the painting emerged from the picture and turned into a ghost. Then, the spirit moaned at the kids, and they all turned around. Once they did, they all saw the ghost and screamed in terror. The ghost came out of the painting and chased them upstairs. Then they all ran upstairs to the attic and hid there. Once the spirit got upstairs, he looked around the bedrooms but didn’t see the kids, so he phased through the wall and left.

Susan slowly opened the door to the attic and tried to see if the ghost was still around. Susan said, “He’s gone.” Sam said, “Close the door.” Susan shut the door and said, “What’s the problem?” Sam whispered, “Keep your voice down too. If he hears us, he’ll find us. He could have just gone invisible.” Susan said, “Really? So, what do you suggest?” Sam pointed up the stairs and suggested they go up to the attic. Once they got up there, they all sat down and tried to relax. Then they started to hear buzzing noises, and many mosquitoes appeared. Once they did, all the kids screamed and hit the deck so the mosquitoes wouldn’t bite them. Then Emma crawled over to an old tennis racket and grabbed it. The mosquitos came at Emma when they saw her, and then she wove her racket around, trying to hit them. Once she hit one, she hit it out the window, and the other mosquitos flew out of it. Bobby said, “That was close.” Susan looked behind Bobby and saw a giant spider descending from the wall. Then she started to scream in terror, and when Bobby looked behind him, he saw the spider, too. Then, a bunch of spiders began to surround them, and they all started to scream in terror. Emma ran up to one and whacked it away with her tennis racket. Then she heard Sam screaming, looked at her, and saw a spider crawling on her. Emma said, “Sam.” Emma whacked the spider off Sam and then hit another one away from the boys. Once she did, a ghost emerged from the ground and scared Emma.

Since ghosts and giant spiders attacked them, the kids ran out of the attic screaming. Susan tried to close the attic door, but one of the spiders tried to stop her from shutting it. Susan screamed in terror when she saw the spider but kept trying to close the door. Emma said, “Come on, close it, close it, close it.” Susan kicked the spider away and then closed the attic door. Then Susan locked it so the spiders couldn’t get out. After she locked the door, another spider came up behind them, and Susan screamed in terror. Then Violet attacked it, but it shape-shifted into a dog, and Violet became afraid. Violet said, “Run, kids, run. Before the monster figures out what you’re afraid of.” Emma said, “Not without you.” Emma grabbed Violet and kicked the dog away. Then they all ran for their lives and ran back downstairs. Then the monster shape-shifted back into its proper form and tried to find the kids and Violet.

When they knew they were safe from the monster, all the kids and Violet emerged from hiding. Helga then sat against the wall and started to sing about how she was afraid and was trying to find her bravery. Helga then looked out the window and sang about how the thought of coming there was a mistake. Then Helga looked at her reflection in the window and asked herself where her hope was. Violet and the kids heard her singing and listened to her. Helga sang about how her dreams were vanishing and how she wondered where the light she knew was. Violet walked up to her and then sat on her lap. Helga smiled and then started to pet Violet. Then Helga took a picture of her with her parents from her pocket, looked at it, and sang about how her friends would consider her brave. Then Helga sang about being strong if she looked for courage. When she did, the sun came out and shined through the window. Once it did, the other kids were amazed. Helga then opened the front door and sang outside about how she’d find her hope, courage, and strength. The other kids started to sing with her. Helga and the other kids ran up to each other while they sang. Then they all hugged, and when they finished, the sun vanished, and the hauntings worsened.

They all returned inside the mansion when they finished singing, and Helga slipped and fell into some green goo. Helga got up, and her friends saw she was covered with slime. Helga said, “What is this stuff?” Mike said, “I don’t know, but it’s dripping from the wall.” Mike pointed at the wall, and all the kids saw the wall was dripping green goo onto the floor. Then the kids and Violet started to hear someone calling their names and asking them where they were. Then Mike screamed in terror and ran out of the room screaming. Mike said, “I’m getting out of this house.”
