The General who fell in Love

'Do you want to see the Heaven? If yes, then hold my hand and I will show what Heaven looks like.' Lee Seo Jin is the great General of the Goryeo Dynasty of ancient Korea. Under his leadership, many territories of the Korean Peninsula were unified. He is the most respected person after the Great King of Goryeo, King Saejo. Ae-Ra is an 18-year-old girl who is a Courtesan (Gisaeng) in the Courtesan House of the Capital. She was taught to entertain the men from a young age, due to which her life was limited within the four walls of an entertainment house. However, when Lee Seo Jin brought her to his residence, she felt the Touch of Heaven in her miserable life.  ~~~~ "'Ae-Ra means Love'," Lee Seo Jin pronounced while gazing into the eyes of Ae-Ra, who was astonished to know the meaning of her name.  "How could my mother give such a name to me? The word 'Love' never existed in my life," Ae-Ra took a deep sigh and lowered her eyes.  "Are you sure that Love never existed in your life, Ae-Ra? Are you sure you don't trust men?" Seo Jin asked.  "Yes, General Lee. I do not believe in love, neither do I trust men," Ae-Ra asserted. Her eyes were filled with tears, recalling her past days.  "What about me? Do you trust me?" Seo Jin was curious. "I do not trust General Lee either," Ae-Ra blurted out. "Ae-Ra, not every man is bad. If I would be, then by now, you would have been on my bed," Seo Jin affirmed.  ~~~~~ 50 votes in a week- 5 advance chapters 100 votes in a week- 10 advance chapters Follow me on instagram: rayoflight_pcy

Not show mercy

Seo Jin was getting ready for the Palace when a servant informed him about Ae-Ra, who had come to meet him.

"Let her in," Seo Jin said and tied the headband around his head. It was of blue color with a flower branch pattern on it embroidered in golden thread. He came out of the dressing room to the main where, in a few seconds, she came inside the room.

"Good Morning, General Lee." She lifted her head and looked into his eyes.

"Is General Lee going somewhere?" Ae-Ra asked.

"Yes. To the Palace," Seo Jin replied. "Do you need something?" He queried.

"Umm… General Lee, can I go outside? I told you that I want to meet my friend," Ae-Ra replied.

"You cannot go outside without my presence around you. Choi Daewon is still outside and if his men see you then it might be dangerous for you. About your friend, I will arrange a private meeting for you two," Seo Jin replied.

"Yes, General Lee. Thank you," she said and turned to leave when Seo Jin stopped her. Dong-Sun glanced at his master and then lowered his gaze.

Seo Jin halted in front of her and placed his right hand over her head. "Ae-Ra, I will be back soon. I have put my trust in you and I believe that you will not try to run away," Seo Jin stated.

"Yes, General Lee. I will not do that," Ae-Ra gave him her words. Seo Jin hummed and put his hand down.

"Dong-Sun, give me my sword," Seo Jin said, who quickly handed him his sword.

"Go back to your room. If you get bored, you can roam around the Residence. Do not take the words of my parents to your heart. They will understand his son soon," Seo Jin advised her. Ae-Ra nodded her head.

"Thank you, General Lee," Ae-Ra said and walked out of the room.

Dong-Sun came towards Seo Jin. "The master's mother is going to get angry at Miss Ae-Ra again. Does the Master think it will be good to leave Miss Ae-Ra behind?" He asked Seo Jin, who contemplated for some time.

"I cannot take her to the Palace. I will be back by noon. Keep an eye on her," asserted Seo Jin. Dong-Sun nodded his head. He then left for the Palace.

Arriving at the Palace, he met Kang Dae, who told him about Choi Daewon's arrival. "The King has agreed to listen to his plea. I had thought the King would not listen," Kang Dae stated.

"It might be because of the pressure of the Ministers," asserted Seo Jin.

"General Lee!" Choi Daewon pronounced his name. They both turned to look at him and found him stepping out of the litter. Choi Daewon's head had a bandage wrapped around it. He came towards them and greeted them.

"Did you get the news?" Choi Daewon asked Seo Jin with a grin.

"Yes. I found out that the assaulter has the guts to file a plea against the victim. It is good though. Once the King will announce his decision, then it would shut the mouths of many," Seo Jin stated.

Choi Daewon chuckled. "General Lee shall not address me as the assaulter. I am the victim here. A lowly woman tried to kill me. The King also knows that General Lee did wrong by intervening in the matter of the Kisaeng House," asserted Choi Daewon. "General Lee, I will ask for the harshest punishment for that wench!" He pronounced, gritting his teeth.

Seo Jin's facial expressions turned grimmer. "Minister Choi, I do not like to give threats to the Ministers, and killing them is not on my list even if they do wrong. However, if any of them tries to say anything wrong about my woman, I will not spare him. Do you think that in today's court you are going to win? No, you will get the biggest surprise of your life. Minister Choi should be careful of his acts in court. I do not show mercy on my enemies. You also know about this very well," affirmed Seo Jin and patted his shoulder.

He turned and walked away, followed by Kang Dae. Choi Daewon clutched his fists in anger.

"Seo Jin, I will kill that wench. She made the biggest mistake of her life by hitting me," Choi Daewon muttered and gritted his teeth.

The Court Hour started and all the Ministers took their positions. Ministers in green robes were at the front, followed by ministers in turquoise-colored robes.

The King entered the court from the front door of the court hall and took the seat on the throne. The ministers bowed in front of the King, who picked the scroll.

"A plea by Minister Choi regarding a Kisaeng whom General Lee has saved," The King hoarsely said and gazed at Seo Jin, who had lowered his head.

"What happened in the Gisaeng House? Step up and elaborate the matter, Minister Choi," King Saejo ordered him.

Choi Daewon, who had a green robe put on, came forward and greeted the King first. "Jeohna (Your Majesty), two days ago, I went to the Kisaeng House and there was a Kisaeng named Ae-Ra, who was told to serve me and my few friends. I only held her hand and she banged the tray on my head, resulting in intensive bleeding.

However, when I thought to punish her for hurting a man from the noble class, General Lee intervened and took her out of the Kisaeng House. I am afraid, but this was an insult to not only me but also the noblemen, in front of everyone.

Jeohna, please give me justice by punishing the Kisaeng," Choi Daewon requested and bowed.

"General Lee should not have interfered and it is odd to see that General Lee was in the Kisaeng House. Also, the Kisaeng did not show her respect towards a noble class and that's very unfortunate for us. Jeohna, Minister Choi must get justice and Kisaeng must be punished for her crimes," Baek Kang Soo, the Minister of Justice supported Choi Daewon in court.

"We also think that General Lee must be punished for taking Kisaeng away and also forcing Minister Choi to ask for forgiveness from a lowly woman," Jeon In Ho, another Minister said.

"Women are an important part of Goryeo's society. It is odd to see that just because of the mere profession of my woman, the ministers are using some of the malicious words for her. If she would not be a Kisaeng, then I feel the men in this Court would have different views for her," Seo Jin affirmed and turned to look at the King.
