Lunch

"I'm not used to have lunch." Fei Yang avoided her piercing eyes.

Liar! Obviously he wanted to fasting so the food would be enough for her.

"I just drink aunty's porridge, the food will be enough for us to eat."

"But…"

Yu Yue cut his words, "Can you check the firewood? I will cook after cleaning this dishes."

After some thought, Fei Yang nodded. "Alright."

FeiYang left her alone to finish the work. He went outside to look for firewood in the forest. While Yu Yue check the kitchen. She found a sack of potato and some wild vegetables.

"What should I make?" murmured the young woman. She opened some spice jar only to find salt and pepper.

He was right. The family seemed to be in poor situation.

She washed them and started the fire to boil the potato. She would fry them after being mashed and spiced.

Latter, she heat the porridge this morning and stir fry the vegetables. She added some water, salt and pepper.

When FeiYang came back, the food was basically done. Yu Yue prepared them on the table and asked him to call his mother.

Mrs. Chu was in nice surprise looking at the dishes. Yu Yue cookings had pleasant aroma and nice color. They were very appetizing.

"Aunty, wash your hands and let's try my cookings."

"Yes.. yes, you cook pretty well."

"The potatoes won't last a week with your spending," whispered Fei Yang.

Yu Yue who heard his statement ignored him and smile at Mrs. Chu. "It's okay. I am not sure about the taste though."

Mrs. Chu went to wash her hands. Meanwhile her beloved son didn't move on his chair.

"Go! Wash your hands!" ordered Yu Yue while kicking his foot lightly.

"Tsk."

Fei Yang snorted and left the table. He had to build more patience since the young lady was the one who cook this meal.

They started the lunch after washing their hands. Mrs. Chu took the potato ball and tried it. She hummed in delighted and praise Yu Yue's skill in cooking.

Feiyang also moved his chopstick without any comment. His respond was too dull, it made Yu Yue felt a little dissatisfied.

"Yu Yue… it's your family luck to have you in with them," said Mrs. Chu after they finished the lunch.

"I don't know," said the young lady in low voice.

The atmosphere turned to stagnant. Feiyang stoped his move when he wanted to drink his water. He looked at her slightly sad expression.

"You never cook for them?" Mrs. Chu probed her carefully.

"I am the only child of my family. My mother passed away when I was twelve years old. While my father died in the war five years ago." Yu Yue answered her truthfully.

"Oh dear… it must be hard for you."

Yu Yue shook her head in negative answered. She was okay. Life went on no matter what happen. In the recent years, she was too busy to think about them.

"How about your partner? Nobles usually marry their daughter early."

"I don't have any engagement. I have no intention to marry early."

"It's okay. You will have one in the future."

Yu Yue only pursed her lips and smile lightly when she heard Mrs. Chu consolation words.

FeiYang turned his head to look at the window. He didn't see his mother hints to probe Yu Yue opinion about himself.

The son didn't realise Mrs. Chu intention, but Yu Yue saw it clearly.

"Anyway, it will be decided by myself and I don't have any intention to marry someone."

Mrs. Chu stopped her gesture. Did the young lady despise her son?

Fei Yang drank his water and changed the topic, "Do you want to sent a letter for your family?"

Yuyue poured a glass of plain water for herself while thinking about Han mansion in the capital. That big house had no owner right now, she didn't know if her relatives would loot the house.

"I want to send a letter for my friend. Can you send it to a pawn shop in Xijing city?"

"Okay, but we don't have any ink in this house." Fei Yang remembered they still have paper and brush in his father chest. However, ink was quite expensive. They couldn't afford it.

Yu Yue blinked her eyes and nodded lightly. "I can solve it, don't worry about it."
