ONE PAIR OF STILETTOES TOOK FURTHER STEPS TO ME FROM BEHIND.
I could hear the sound of my heart beat in my ears, it was hard, fast and volatile. It increased with every step Ken took. I felt like I would pass out if he didn't stop moving closer and closer to my shaking form.
Yet, I knew that I was strong enough to remain conscious through out the whole terrible ordeal after all it wasn't going to be the first time for me.
When the foot step got close to me it stopped, and so did my heart. I felt a hand touch my face and I became nauseous.
"My baby girl, I've missed you." Ken groaned, caressing my chin. I whimpered.
As if that was not intimate enough, he held my bum and crotched down so his face was on my neck. "I missed your smell, your voice, your tremor." He breathed in my scent and kissed my neck. I shuddered but I didn't move. I was rooted to the ground.
"I miss the way your heart jumps in your chest when I touch you. You're mine now."
"No!' I said out loud. I didn't know when or how I found my voice but the thought of ever being his was too painful to think about.
My eyes were filled with tears now and my lips were shaking so much I had to lick them.
He laughed. "You do know that you have no choice in the matter."
I glared at him with defiance. "I will never be yours!" I said out loud. My voice did not sound as firm as I wanted it, but it was enough to make Ken frown.
He grabbed my neck pulling me close to him with so much force I almost threw up. "What did you just say!" He growled.
"Leave her alone!" Scar yelled, reminding me of his presence thus assuring me that it would all be fine.
My fear reduced a bit and I glared daringly at Ken. "I said. I am not yours." I spat out.
Ken flipped me around to face scar. "Is that your angel?" He asked me, mockingly. "He works hard but I work harder. So don't think that he can ever protect you from me."
"Let her go!" Scar growled, but his resistance was useless.
Their were five armed men holding Scar down, two of which I recognized from the night Ken wanted to burn down my house and sent his men to distract me. The Others I had no idea who they were.
While two of the men held on to Scars hands. The other three pointed a gun at him.
Ken came fully prepared.
"Handcuff the bastard!" Ken ordered. I sensed a mixture of fear and anger in his voice.
But I could just be reaching and the fear I heard could be mine.
His men immediately did as they were told. They held out Scars hands in front of him and chained him.
I swallowed. My future started looking very blink.
The dpo soon came out of the Bush with a mischievous smile on his face.
"Help!" I shouted, but he didn't look back. He was walking directly to Scar. "Help please." I cried.
Ken held on to me and shushed me. "Shh! Don't tell me that you haven't noticed what is going on? You have no ally here."
My eyes met with Scars and I trembled. Seeing how scared I was the dpo chuckled. He shook hands with Ken and scowled at Scar, then he winked at me. I wanted to kill him at this point. I always knew that he was not to be trusted.
"My man." Ken Laughed shaking hands with the DPO. He took out an envelop from his pocket and handed it to the dpo. "You have done a very good job."
"Is it exactly as we agreed?" The dpo asked, peeping into the envelop.
"Two hundred thousand naira as we agreed." I couldn't believe, I was just sold out. The hurt that hit me was a different kind of hurt.
Ken still held me tight stopping me from falling. I was shaking so much now like a leaf during winter.
"Remember what you me promised man, I get a taste of her." The dpo grinned, stretching his hands to touch my face but Ken hit it.
"She's mine man. No one touches her!"
"But you promised_"
"And I'm failing it. Now leave before I fail other promises." Ken threatened.
His hand found his gun and he stared at the DPO unmoving.
"OK man, I'm gone. Enjoy that fine ass alone". The DPO scoffed. "It was nice doing business with you though." He tucked the envelope in his jacket pocket and drove off, leaving us to deal with Ken alone.
Ken turned to me, "Now that the old man is gone can we now move to our new home. The home I have prepared only for us."
He held my hands and led me into the bush while his men pushed Scar forcing him to walk behind us.
The leaves and trees covered us deeper and deeper as we walked further into the den of the enemy.
