Why?

“Mom, Dad, I’m breaking up with Kyle.”

CRACK!

Lovy Arden’s glass landed on the tiles floor with a loud crash.

The whole room went silent when they heard Valentina’s words.

All the peoples on the table looked at the woman who raised her glass and drank the red wine in it, in one gulp.

Mason and Peter frowned seeing her appearance. The four siblings are very close to each other to the extent that they could understand what’s going on in each other’s mind.

She was smiling and laughing when she arrived, but after drinking several glasses of red wine, her demeanour completely changed.

It was their usual family dinner on Saturday night, and their parent doesn’t mind their children drinking wine as long as they behave.

But, Valentina truly loses her usual composure this time.

“Why?” Andrew Rodriguez finally speaks after digesting what he just heard.

He was shocked and also panicked a bit when his daughter said that she wanted to break up with Kyle Johnson. The big famous figure!

It was such a big opportunity to promote their business and to let him go was a stupid decision.

Although he felt unhappy, he was concerned with the aggrieved look on his daughter’s face.

Valentina didn’t answer her father’s questions and continue to fill up her glass and shove it down her throat.

Annoyed, Mason grabbed her glass away from her.

Vale falls back on the chair behind her, closing her eyes. A heavy sigh came out of her mouth before her arms covered her eyes. A soft sob came out of her mouth, and it gradually increased into a full-blown crying adult.

Lovy Arden’s heart tugged in pain upon seeing her daughter acting up like this to the point that her own eyes are tearing up. It was as if she was the one who’s feeling the sadness that her daughter is bearing.

The whole family look at Vale in pain and sympathy.

Even though their curiosity was piqued up, they couldn’t bear to ask her. Afraid that it would bring her more pain.

Even Leslie, on the other side, felt her cheeks getting wet upon seeing Vale in her miserable state, combined with the sound of her painful cries.

A woman who once held her head high and always have a strong composure turns into a crying a mess.

The calm and joyous dinner turns sad in a flip of time.

“You’re drunk. Let me send you back to your room.”

Peter got up from his chair and helped Vale up to her feet.

However, “I want a piggyback.” Vale said with a pout on her face. Her voice hoarse and even her face was a mess.

Sighing, Peter turns his back on her and lower himself a bit.

Vale put her arms around his neck before Peter holds onto her legs and walk upstairs towards her room.

After lowering Vale onto her bed, Peter groaned as he stood up and wiped the sweat on his forehead.

He turned his head towards the door when he heard footsteps coming inside the room.

“Do you want me to change her clothes?” Leslie asked as she approached him.

Grabbing her waist, he kissed her forehead, “No need. Anne can do it.”

Leslie frowned. She didn’t know if she should tell him about what she had seen just now.

“Anne...”

“What is it?” Peter’s brows furrowed when he saw the complicated look on her face.

Leslie bit her lip before answering him in a low voice, “She left.”

Peter’s face immediately turns dark when he heard this. Vale is in heartbreak. Why did Anne leave all of a sudden?

“Then, I will ask the maid to do it. Come on, it’s late. You need to rest.” Peter said as he led her out of the room.

“I want you to investigate what’s happening in Black Rose Gang recently.”

“Got it, boss!”

Mason turned his phone off as he sighed and looked out of the window. Staring at the darkness outside.

His fists clenched tightly in anger when he recalled the look of sadness in Vale’s eyes.

No one is allowed to hurt his family.

No one will come out unscathed if they hurt his family!

Knock! Knock!

A knock from his study door disrupted his thoughts.

“Come in.”

The door creaked, and a maid entered.

“You call for me?” A feminine voice broke out.

Mason sat on his chair and watched the woman closed the door. She walks a few steps forward before stopping.

“Come here.” Mason ordered.

The maid approached him as she holds her hands together in front of her. Fidgeting with her fingers.

When she was closed enough, Mason pulled her down and made her sit on his lap. His arms enclosed around her as he buried his nose in her neck. Smelling her fragrance in delight.

“Mason...” she gasped when he bit her neck.

“Shh...”

Before long, the maid was dragged back to his room.

Andrew and Lovy sat rigid on the bed as their minds wandered around.

“What do you think we should do?” Andrew can’t take the silence anymore and finally asked his wife.

Lovy turns her head to look at his husband and leaned over, hugging him.

Andrew hugged her closer and pressed a light kiss on her forehead.

“We don’t know what happened. Who knows? Maybe they’re just fighting.”

Lovy said.

“Mhmm...and what if they’re truly breaking up?” Andrew asked again.

“Hubby, I just want our children to be happy. If Kyle cannot make her happy, then it’s no use even if he’s a powerful figure.” Lovy’s eyebrows furrowed in displeasure.

“Mm...I will listen to you.” Andrew said as he sighed, ” It’s unfortunate that he’s a powerful figure. If not, I would have taught him a lesson for hurting our daughter.”

Lovy chuckles lightly, “Hubby, I think our children are very interesting.” she leaned back and looked at her husband’s face.

Her eyes were shining with interest.

“Why did you say that?” Andrew asked.

“Haven’t you noticed that they were acting very strange lately?” Lovy looked at him with an expectant look on her face.

Andrew looked at the bright light on his wife’s eyes with an amused look.

“Honey, it’s not enough that you gossiped about your friends. Now, you even want to gossip about our children?”

Lovy glared at him, “Hubby, I’m serious.”

Feeling helpless, Andrew could only sit and listen to his wife’s bubbly mouth.
