The Gamer Series: The Movie-Verse.

[Congratulations! You Died!]

Looking at the screen claiming that I died and seeing myself in a dark void you'd think I would be…shaken, but to be honest I wasn't.

" No shit Sherlock….now what?" I asked with a groan.

[…Unusual comeback, but within expectations]

The screen changed as I read through the text.

[Now you will be given a choice….stay in your eternal afterlife, the void or play a game.] 

" Urh…what type of game?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

[You along with an billion or more other human beings will be put into a world and with the Gamer Ability, even though it will be heavily nerfed it's an ability nonetheless.

You will be given quests and objectives to finish in said world and with each you complete, you grow stronger.]

" Oh? I've read about this sort of thing ….a lot mostly because I was a big fan of gamer fanfic." I said with a bit of melancholy in my voice.

" Yeah I do…anything that will get me out of here." I said out loud as made myself comfortable in the void around me.

[Congratulations! Avery you have been drafted into the Gamer Initiative!]

I couldn't help but chuckle at that one.

" Like the avengers initiative?" I asked.

[Of course!]

[Now firstly we must spin your Homeworld!]

" My what?" I asked with a frown.

[Your Homeworld!, It'll be your first world and luckily after a bunch of testing we have figured that as gamers who's gamer ability is heavily nerfed that you guys don't survive that long in higher world's where gods are plenty so as a good entity we along with others have cone to an agreement to first send gamers to 'Normal' World's before they jump to world's like Marvel and DC.]

" Holdup! I can go to Marvel and DC?…" I asked with my eyes wide open at the thought of maybe meeting some of my childhood crushes in the flesh…as superpowered murder-hobos.

[It depends on you really and your luck.]

[But now that we have that settled….would you like to roll for your first world?] 

" Yes." I agreed immediately actually looking forward to getting out of here.

[Rolling for world...]

Waiting in anticipation at the kind of world I was gonna end up on, I knew that whatever world would be rolled would be fiction but then again what was fiction to reality?.

[Rolled World: Scream-5]

" Huh?…Scream? I thought we were gonna go to a normal world…not a world where ghost face tried to stick things in people." I said with a frown already knowing that I'd probably get into the whole fray of the ghost face thing.

[It's a normal world as there is no supernatural forces in it….but…]

" Oh no..don't do that…what do you mean but?" I asked with a frown as suspicion started forming in my gut.

[ Okay okay…so Avery I'm a offer you a deal.]

" Ah shit…I already know where this is going…" I said already giving myself away to my fate.

[ So I want to…change and edit your world…by a lot, to make things fun…for me, and in exchange I'll give you some goodies.]

" What type of goodies…." I asked with a frown.

[Not gonna lie, many of the gamers of the 6,625,628,638 gamers already chosen will die in their first world mostly due to maturity and mental reasons with those with…power, so I want to give you more chances of you surviving in the form of traits.]

" Huh? What are traits?" I asked curiously.

[Well aside from the already known functions of the gamer system such as Status, inventory and Skills there is an extra function given to gamers to make sure that some of the good seeds survive.

Traits— Traits are ingrained concepts given form by the gamer system to be beneficial or detrimental to the host, from a trait that makes people mentally unstable to traits that allow people to look better physically without working out, in other words these could be classified as powers even if they are more 'low-key' with some exceptions.]

" Aren't those like perks?…" I asked with a frown as those seemed a lot like perks to me.

[In a way they are but better and maybe weaker, who's to say?]

" Aha…." I replied still in my thoughts.

[Also even if you do not accept my offer every gamer is still offered 3 free trait tokens.]

" Oh?…that's good then." I thought cheering up.

" How many more traits can I get if I take your deal?" I asked actually considering this.

" So I'll have 8 traits at the beginning?." I asked.

[Yes]

" Well not bad…I'll probably need those huh." I asked not really expecting an answer.

[Yes you will, some traits are needed to form some skills you see.]

" Huh? Really?" I asked not expecting that.

[The gamer ability you'll be given is more…realistic, you'll not be given the gamers body because well…. you're expected to bleed and no good night's sleep will fix that.

You'll be given a gamers mind though…but it'll only prevent mind reading, mind manipulation and the such and not suppress your fear, panic and all those good emotions.]

" Uh fuck…I really wanted the gamers body though…the gamers mind won't be that much of a loss even in its nerfed version." I spoke to myself before finally coming to a decision.

" Alright…let's do this, I accept." I accepted, mostly because I was greedy.

[Excellent!]

[Now I have another deal….]

"….okay…lay it on me…" I said even more cautious this time.

"….okay and what is a class token?"

[Class Token: The only way you'll be able to gain a class, mostly found in dungeons all over the world or rewards from a quest.

They allow the user to gain a random class over the thousands of hundreds available in the gamer system.]

[So all in all they are what will give you an edge in the game…you shouldn't find any till you dive into 'dungeons' though.]

" Aha…I guess you're right, wait how will dungeons be like?, Are they the normal dungeons in most fanfic with ID create or?…." I asked.

[No shit someone actually asked that….you're the first person to actually ask about the dungeons.

No, dungeons have been….remade, dungeons will now be world's of their own where you'll need to complete a certain objective before you complete them, think of them as mini-movies, their genres could be action, horror, romance , thriller and anything in between with many chances at leveling up.]

" That's good actually I'm actually looking forward to this, well…my last question who am I inserting inside of?" I asked the important question already having agreed to this whole self insert thing.
