Chapter 11: You Can Come Out Now

Prince Colt was made to stand in the governor's presence. They had tied his hands.

"So, fiery prince, it is time for you to work on our deal," Ramos said.

Colt was still unsure of what he was doing. He just nodded.

Ramos looked at his most trusted soldier. "You will take the prince with some soldiers under you. I do not want you to disappoint me."

"I will lose my head but never disappoint you, my lord," the soldier said, and bowed.

Ramos nodded and said to Colt, "And you do not try to act over-smart. Do anything reckless and the blades of a dozen soldiers would pierce your body."

Colt still stayed silent, but he glared into the eyes of Governor Ramos.

"Those eyes again," Ramos reacted. "I like them. How about I gouge them out and keep them with me?" He ordered his soldier, "Take him before I do something bad."

The soldiers followed his order and took Colt with them.

Kyte and his men still kept an eye on the castle. They had seen Varius going inside, which made them sure that Colt was held there.

"What are you going to do, Varius?" Kyte wondered. He suddenly saw Varius coming out of the castle, but he did not have Colt with him. "Did you fail to get him from the lord?" he muttered.

"What should we do now, sir?" a soldier asked.

"We have two choices now. Either we wait until King Hammer makes a move, or we find a way to get Prince Colt out of the castle," Kyte responded. "Either way, we will first have to wait for reinforcements from my prince."

"Should we keep an eye on the castle?" asked the soldier.

"Yes."

The soldier nodded at his words.

Night came by, they still kept an eye on the castle. They could notice nothing sort of strange until they saw the castle door opening.

"Sir, there is someone coming out of the castle," a soldier said.

"It is hard to see in this dark," Kyte responded. "I wonder where they are going." He could only see silhouettes in the dark. They were riding horses.

"Should we follow them, sir?" asked the soldier.

"Yes. My instincts say we might find something useful," Kyte said.

The soldiers nodded and prepared to follow the horses.

"We will lay an ambush in the night and launch a surprise attack when the supply passes through the route," a soldier of Ramos said while on the horse. "Moving in the night time is also beneficial that you can easily lose the people tracking you."

Colt, too, rode a horse and thought of every way possible to escape.

After a long ride, they reached the desired place. It was a hidden path in the dense jungles which was used for supply forces and weapons.

"Damn. How was this pathway so out of our radar?" a soldier wondered.

"Just like our ins and outs are out of the radar of Madmen," another soldier said. "Hurry. We have to hide the horses first, then ourselves."

"Wait, this place is…" Kyte knew where they were. "Prince Rozerd had once taken me through this pathway. We were the reinforcements at The Battle of Green against the Wild."

"Why are the soldiers of the governor here, sir?" a soldier asked.

"He must have forced Prince Colt to reveal the secret supply lines," Kyte said.

"Tie him to a tree so that he could not run away during the night," a soldier said to the other. A soldier was about to grab the hands of the prince, but suddenly Colt kicked him in the jaw.

"What?" the soldier who ordered reacted in surprise.

Prince Colt, without wasting a second, sprinted away like crazy.

"Catch that dastard prince!" cried the soldier, getting everybody to chase him.

"Prince?" These words reached Kyte, and it struck him. "Is Prince Colt with them?"

"What should we do, sir?" asked a soldier before Kyte pulled out a sword.

"We have no time to wait for the forces. We have to save the prince now."

"As you order, sir." The soldier bowed and pulled out their swords as well.

"You can not run away, prince!" a soldier cried while chasing Colt. "Stop or we will not hesitate to kill you!"

Colt did not bother to answer them and continued running towards the denser part of the jungle. He hid behind some bushes full of thorns, which scratched and prickled him badly, but he managed to not make a sound.

"Find him!" The soldiers were searching around the area. "Come out by yourself, you runaway prince!" a soldier cried. Suddenly, an arrow hit him in the back. "Ah!" He perished to the ground.

"What was that sound? What did just happen?" an other soldier reacted when he heard the moan. "Hey! Are you okay?" He headed towards the dead soldier and found his body. "Our man is dead!" He cried.

Suddenly, an arrow hit him as well, and he also dropped dead to the ground. This time, the other soldiers saw it clearly.

"We are attacked? Protect yourselves!" They quickly somehow found shelter behind the trees.

Kyte was the one shooting them.

"As expected of Sir Kyte. He is not known as 'The Eagle-Eyed' for nothing," a soldier praised him when he witnessed Kyte not missing his targets even in this darkness. "His archery skills are unparalleled."

Meanwhile, Colt heard about the attack. "Who is behind the attack?" he wondered. "Are those men under brother Hammer?" He tried to slip away from the bushes before anyone noticing him. Suddenly, he heard a loud voice.

It was Kyte. "Prince Colt, if you can hear my voice, just know we are here to save you! We are here under the orders of your brother Rozerd!"

"Brother Rozerd?" Colt took a breath of relief when he heard the name of his brother Rozerd. He denied the idea of slipping away and jumped out of the bushes. He sneaked to a soldier of Ramos hiding behind a tree whose attention was on the arrows. He grabbed his neck from behind and twisted it.

Another soldier saw him. "You sneaky dastard…" He tried to run towards him, but an arrow pierced him midway.

"Got you," Kyte muttered. He could spot the prince as he was also on the offensive against the enemies.

Colt got hold of the sword of the dead soldier and first cut the ropes tying his hand.

The soldiers under the command of Kyte headed towards the hiding enemies. When they reached too close, some of the enemy soldiers left their hiding and tried to fight them. Only to get hit by the arrows. The numbers of the enemies had decreased.

Colt sneaked to another soldier and stabbed him.

Soon enough, they had killed every enemy.

Kyte came out of the bushes he was shooting from. "Prince Colt, you can come out now."

"Thank you for saving me," Colt said as he walked out from behind a tree. He had a bloodied sword in his hand.

"We are glad we have found you, my prince," Kyte said. "Let us get to your brother."

"Yeah."

Kyte looked at the dead soldiers. "Should we leave their bodies here?"

"No. Hide them. No one should find a trace," Prince Colt said.

Kyte nodded as he understood what the prince was plotting.

Colt was finally out of the shackles. What would he do now?
