What do you do when you wake up and find yourself inside the very game you loved? Follow a 'normal' person on his journey, follow him as he tries to survive in the very game he used to love. But when games become reality... what will he do... He knows the true dangers of this world... and how to survive in it... The Game world was a cruel place where even hundred year old NPCs were smart... the players used to lose to those old monsters continuously.... will he survive his journey... or will he just be another spec in the dust of time...
Days passed as the situation on the Mortal World kept getting worse and worse, no one under Rank 3 in power could survive outside of the wall. That's what was being said inside the Soul Sect, the 1st underground level, also known as Level D was the place where the Market District was and where most of the normal people lived.
It was the floor closest to the ground, so the farmers could get above and cultivate the land easily. Already an order of responsibility had been established in the community.
The deeper one lived, the better their situation was and the more important they were. Of course, people moved through the levels already, for example, an incompetent doctor would immediately be moved to Level D and work as a farmer.
The surface ground of the Soul Sect had been replaced by farms and military outposts. While the ground up there was still clean due to Alex's barrier, it was way too useful as farming land so the occupants had to be moved underground.
The man himself was in Level S of the bunker, the deepest level with only a handful of rooms. This bunker was called the Doomsday Bunker, made by Alex in case the world suddenly ended and he needed to survive there for a couple of thousand years. Of course, this was all hypothetical, but as things had been going recently, he would like to have these things prepared in advance.
Death felt like a scythe that was always around his neck, and even with all these countermeasures, someone like Alex could never feel safe. He knew that the situation could turn out way worse.
The Level S that Alex was on, while mysterious to many others. To him it was just an office where he could do many things, there were many labs around, but mainly he spent most of his time in the bedroom, laying on his bed and listening.
His bedroom had a king-sized bed, but it was modest. Expressing Alex's disregard for luxurious-looking things.
People usually got good things because it made them happy. And luxurious things made them even happier, giving them a sense of worth and instinctual gratification.
A glass cup is used to drink water, also a golden cup has the same usage. But why do some people get the golden one? Because that showed a greater wealth, which to modern society related to greater competence. Of course, real competent people would see it for what it was, a person who bought a stupid gold cup and wasted money on it just so he could show off.
So as Alex sat on his bed contemplating meanings of life, the rest of his mind was concentrated on the barrier around the Soul Sect. He had extended the barrier underground too, so mole-like monsters couldn't attack either. Plus he needed the sunrays to get through the barrier and the air filtration needed to be fixed.
From the reports, only when the dark rain touched something would it start mutating. But he wasn't willing to take his chances on this, so he treated this as if it was the worst infection in the world that had already gone airborne.
The best thing that Alex liked from his high intelligence was that he could think five times simultaneously. Five different thought processes, and while four worked, he usually left one to think about things and manage his physical body. All these thoughts were connected to the soul. So in a way, he was having a rest while working at the same time.
That was when suddenly a Magic Crystal flashed and appeared in front of him.
Alex looked almost bored by it. He usually didn't show emotion on the outside, but he was alone in here so he didn't bother keeping up a facade.
He opened the interface and saw that it was Ya Xiao, the Human Emperor reborn, he was injured and breathing heavily.
"Alex! Big trouble!"
*click*
"Sorry, I can't hear you." Alex on the other hand turned off the call. He had sent countless spying spells on Xiao, especially since he went to investigate the corruption. He had encountered some dangers and met a couple of Evil Cultists and got heavily injured.
Now Alex would bet that he was calling for help. But if Ya Xiao couldn't handle something like this himself, then he was useless. Also, Alex predicted that the reincarnated emperor might wanna get rid of him, so it was better to stay here, in his domain where no one could touch him.
He remembered that the only reason Julie and her Magic Academy fell was that the Headmistress had been outside of the Academy to confront him and he had trapped her. If she had been in her territory, then not only Goddess Ariel's avatar, but even the whole Holy Kingdom army wouldn't have been able to injure her.
So Alex had learned from the mistakes of his 'teacher' and friend, Julie the (ex) Headmistress. Such a mighty person fell to the plan of some young boy with no real power at the time.
Also if he was outside of this place, Ya Xiao could attempt to rescue his sister at that time. Of course, this whole situation was hypothetical, but it had a good chance of happening. Alex also had enough foresight to not fall for it, he would rather let Ya Xiao die than put his life in danger. Being Legendary Rank didn't mean he was invincible.
Plus he had bigger fish to catch. Ya Xiao's death was inconsequential because while Alex wanted the Wayne Kingdom, being King of the ashes wasn't useful at all. While this situation was terrible, it also provided him an opportunity to take over once this whole mess was over. So Ya Fei and her brother were on a thin string, and if they weren't useful anymore or got in his way… well, it wasn't uncommon for royal children to have 'accidents' and break their necks.
"Still though, what Xiao discovered was worrying." Alex contemplated, he had seen what this strange 'corruption' had done to the world. To him, it was obvious that one of the Gods had been involved with the incident. "But which one was it?"
Many Gods would do something like this. Humanity had lost its strength and the players weren't around this time, so no crazy Legendary Ranks who sometimes walked around in their underwear.
'Probably one of the Gods saw this chance to try and further their agenda.' Though Alex, trying to put himself in their shoes to understand what their end goal was. Why would one of the Gods hurt humans? They were their biggest faith contributors and many of the Gods would die without the faith provided by their believers. Undoubtedly some small-scale religions with minor Gods had already been wiped. Others were severely weakened.
Still though, what bothered Alex was a giant dark egg on the borders of the Wayne and Holy Kingdom. That was one of the sources of this corruption and as all eggs do, it will one day hatch, releasing something even more terrible than this.
'I wonder how this meeting will go?' Wondered Alex, before concentrating all of his thoughts on increasing the defenses in his Soul Sect.
...
At the same time as Alex was contemplating many things. Within the Shadow Island where Camilla dwells, she too had an apprehensive look on his face as she sat on the throne.
"After many years my little Alex decided to contact me?" She asked as one of her subordinates, a purple-haired, pale-skinned beauty nodded.
"Yes, and he is still as untrustworthy as always," said the beautiful purple-haired woman. "You shouldn't trust him, Camilla."
Camilla looked at the woman surprised and suddenly laughed. "Hahahaha~ trust Alex? Why would I ever trust him? My dear Yomu, don't you know better?"
Yomu clenched her fists. "B -But he used you to deal with the Lightning Emperor and you suffered due to him! He used you, why aren't you angry?! Every other vampire is angry!"
The Vampire Queen sighed, shaking her head. "Yomu, my dear Yomu. You should think clearly, don't let your judgment be clouded by anger. Think things clearly and tell me what your thoughts on the matter are. Why would I do something like this?"
The young voluptuous vampire was confused, she didn't have an answer to Camilla's question. So the childish-looking vampire only smirked and said. "I will be going to this little meeting he has organized. Maybe then you will be able to see what the best course of action will be."
=========
A/N: Alex separated his bunker into sections to increase productivity. Think of it as the real world, where people will change the world dramatically for money. I mean it sounds vain when said out loud, but it's the truth of how things work.
