The Game Called Love

“Don't feel bad, it's all because you don't know how to play the game of love" “Love isn't a game” Arianna defended, sounding like a child who was trying to prove Santa was real. Nathan looked at her from the corner of his eye, a smirk played on his lips. “It is a game and the sooner you realize that the better, you're never going to get a guy to fall in love with you if you continue to act the way you do” “I know you are my boss and I'm supposed to agree with whatever you say but I can't agre e with this. Love isn't a game and I can make any guy fall in love with me just the way I am” “Okay then prove it” Arianna raised her eyebrow questioningly at him, maybe he was drunk. “Prove it? how?” “Make me fall in love with you” …….. A Grandmother?

Sometimes being a female is hard. Why does my subconscious remind me of things that I don't want to remember like what happened today in Nathan's sorry Mr. Miller's office

*Flashback starts*

I walk towards the door about to open it and walk out of the room after an arrogant Mr. Miller refuses to apologize for the right way.

"Miss west" he calls out from behind me startling me and causing me to turn and face him.

"Yes sir " I stutter.

His eyes move swiftly from my face to my shoes, he shakes his head and has a ridiculous but annoying smile playing on his face. I squirm under his gaze and move my feet uneasily.

"The next time you're late because of a makeover, make it count, and don't come in here looking like my grandmother"

My mouth drops open as I realize what he just said to me. "Excuse me?" I manage to ask despite the embarrassment I feel.

He hides his smile behind a firm look.

"You're excused, you may leave now"

I turn around slowly and walk out of the office feeling like crap.

*End of flashback*

The nerve of that guy, being my boss, doesn't give him the right to insult me.

I grab my pillow and scream into it.

I can't erase the moment from my mind and my memory keeps playing it over and over again… so frustrating.

"Brrinnnngg" my phone rings, out of habit I sit up quickly and pick it up with a smile hoping to see Vince's name as the caller but instead I see Allison, my elder sister. I internally groan as I answer the call.

"Hello," I immediately say into the phone.

"Arianna you're so annoying how.." I remove the phone from my ear because she starts shouting, after a few seconds when she starts calling my name I put the phone back to my ear.

"I promise you I'll end the call if you don't talk calmly" I threaten her.

There's a long pause from her side and then she begins to speak this time in a low tone.

"Why haven't you been calling me?" She asks genuinely concerned.

I start to feel bad about not answering her call and decide to apologize.

"I'm sorry Ally, work has been really stressful"

"It's okay honey you can make it up to me"

Excitement finds its way into my voice.

"Really? How?"

"I'm at the restaurant beside the hill hospital, Felix's Kitchen, come and meet me there"

"Right now?"

"Yeah knowing you, you haven't had dinner yet so come over it'll be my treat"

"Okay thanks, I'll be there soon"

"Wear something nice"

"Why?" I ask, suddenly becoming suspicious.

"I don't want to be seen with someone who isn't looking presentable"

"Can you not be annoying?"

She chuckles at my sudden outburst.

"The last time I checked Ria you're the annoying one"

"Whatever… bye I'll see you in a bit"

"Okay bye"

I drop my phone on the bed and stand up to find what to wear. I pick out an outfit from the ones I bought during shopping with Nora.

When I'm done I drive over to the restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant I see my sister sitting in a booth, her smile widens as she sees me, she waves at me and I walk towards her I don't notice the person sitting beside her until I'm already at the table, I look at her and give her a questioning look while eyeing the guy by her side.

She looks between the two of us and smiles. I shake my head disapprovingly as I look at the guy beside her.

"What is he doing here?"

***********************************

She looks between the two of us and smiles. I shake my head disapprovingly as I look at the guy beside her.

"What is he doing here?"

"Ria please have a seat," Allison says tapping on the seat beside her. I accept the seat but I still hold unto my frown as I stare at her.

"This is Evans, he works in my office"

Hearing her words, I immediately understand what's going on. How stupid can I be? When she said she wanted to meet at this restaurant I should have known. I turn to glare at Ally as I pick up my bag.

"That's it. I'm out of here, I've told you times and times again that I don't like you setting me up" I stand up to leave but she grabs my hand.

"I'm just trying to help. Is it a crime for me to want to help you?" there's a tone in her voice that makes me believe her sincerity but I'm just so angry I ignore it and pull my hand out of her grasp.

"It's not a crime but I haven't even gotten over Vince, it has barely been three days since he ghosted me and you're already trying to set me up with someone. How do you think that makes me feel"

"I'm sorry" she apologizes

"I just want to go home, send my greetings to your husband"
