The Deal: Part Two

Esme stared after the Moon Goddess, her inky black hair falling in waves down her back, the twinkling of stars making it seem like the night sky was reflecting back at the she-wolf. Selene would not trick her, but it didn't mean she would not keep her guard up. This Goddess did, after all, put her and Ethan together.

"How long will I be Aila's shadow?" Esme questioned and bit her tongue when she realised it sounded like she had already accepted the offer.

Selene spun around slowly and placed her finger on her chin, feigning that she was thinking. But Esme knew better from her girlish act. "Until she no longer needs you." Esme inhaled sharply at her words. It was worse not to have an estimated timeline than to have one that might suggest something like a ten-year contract.
