Returning Home

Esme returned to the spot Aila had been, but she was nowhere to be found. Something told her the she-wolf was fine, though. She looked down at the shimmering crescent moon on her wrist; it still had shadow like clouds crossing the bottom point of it. Her thumb brushed over the skin, but it didn't affect the mark. This mark connected her to the Moon Goddess and Aila Cross. It was a small price to pay.

"Once we are no longer needed, that mark will probably go," Isana murmured after their thoughts aligned about the mark.

Esme turned away from the location she had been guarding Aila and set off at a jog in the opposite direction, sighing in dismay as she shifted and ripped the dress to smithereens. She looked back at the ground after something flashed out of the corner of her eyes. The material returned to its original colour, and black mist poured out of it and evaporated.
