Heir to the Hellhounds

Esme's laughter died as she stared at the wall to her side, the rising heat in her cheek reddening from the sting of Camilla's hand. Her 'mother' grabbed Esme's cheeks tightly in one hand, snarling at her as she turned her face back to look at her. Esme stared coldly at the woman who birthed her.

"This is not how I pictured our reunion, Nyx," Camilla said quietly, the disappointment apparent on her features. Her daughter was never meant to meet her mate, and she was meant to return once leaving her mate.

"Reunion?" Esme scoffed and pulled her head back. Camilla released her face and sighed, grabbing another dining chair and turning it around, so they sat facing each other.

"Well, you were not a part of my plan. But I wanted to see you one last time," Camilla replied nonchalantly as though she had not just signed her off to the devil with green eyes.
