Acting on Karma's Behalf (1)

[ Marcus ]

Staring at Marcus like he was a prized jewel or a plump pig off for slaughter, Camilla walked towards him and put her arms around his shoulders into an awkward hug, leaving a peck on his cheek. Marcus gritted his teeth, his bound hands clenching behind his back, the position uncomfortable against the armchair he was sitting on. Esme's mother tilted her head to the side and moved stray strands of his long inky black hair away from his chiselled face.

"I thought you were dead, Marcus." Camilla stared at him, her onyx eyes glistening from unshed tears.

"And this is the welcome I get for being alive?" Marcus snapped; his cold blue eyes burned into hers.
