"So..." says the Lord while reading something on his cell phone. "Basically... that 'theory' that exists in your reality, you call it 'parallel realities', it's not just a theory, it really exists, it's a little different, but it's easier to explain it that way, each of those realities is managed by a small god and several helping gods.
"A little god?" I end up asking. This caught my attention, so I understood a 'little' God has the power to manage an entire universe.
"Yes, what did you expect? That an all-powerful god, the one who can simply do whatever they want, would want to take care of some dull little planets? They have much bigger problems to deal with." He answers me after reading something and having a little laugh, noticing my expression decides to put the cell phone on the table.
Whether or not I want all this information that I am receiving was a great shock to me, the possibility that there is something like 'God' had been abandoned by me for a long time thanks to all the things that I had experienced and experienced.
"And the gods, do they... like... help people or something? Something like religions talk?" That was the question I wanted to ask the most, although I still had a certain fear of taking courage and doing it.
It's not like I want to play the victim or anything like that, maybe I don't get the chance to know about these things ever again.
"I know exactly what you're thinking, probably something like 'because we don't help people who clearly didn't deserve the problems they have,' that's actually a simple answer that you should already know, taking into account all that you've experienced. God answers me with a dull little smile on his face. "You humans have the power to do whatever you wish, you who have created your own societies without interference from anyone, unfortunately, they are corrupt and tend to benefit few, but isn't that your fault?"
Just as he had said I already knew the answer very well, maybe we humans just created ideas that a God prepared a plan for everyone's life just to have someone to blame, but in fact in the end the blame is only ours.
Even though I said I wasn't playing the victim, I know that deep down I was asking about myself, and when I thought about it I ended up breathing a sigh.
I can't get down for something like that, just as I won't say things that make people feel sorry for me before, that was already decided a long time ago.
"I understood everything clearly, thank you for the explanation and apology for being inconvenient." After I think a little bit I can talk, then I do a little bowing.
"It's okay, actually I couldn't help but notice that you're calmer than you should be, of course, you cried at first and everything, but you recovered pretty quickly." It didn't seem like I'd been surprised, but when I said that, he looked at me with an expression of strangeness.
Actually, even I can't explain what this is, I thought he was causing this feeling in me, yet it doesn't seem to be the case since he's talking about it...
"I'm not sure I can explain why maybe I just don't feel it's real yet? Things are pretty weird." I'm trying to give you a logical explanation.
That feeling I felt before, I wonder what it could be...
"No problem, no problem." God lets out a laugh while he's talking.
Now back to the main subject.
"I have a few more questions, do you mind?" Taking advantage of the relaxed climate I decide to abuse a little of your kindness, however, I still ask your permission first of all.
"Go ahead, I'm all ears." He answers me by leaning against the chair.
The way he felt the conversation would be a little long, I apologize for that.
"I'd like to know why I'm here, all the people who die come to this place? Would this be the passage to the afterlife?" To tell you the truth this should have been my first question, but I will keep that information to myself.
"Aaah, it's true! I was almost forgetting the most important thing. The answer to your question is no! It's just a few chosen ones who come here," he says, leaning over the chair, keeping half of his body on the table, so he'd be closer to me, "I have a proposition for you!"
An offer?
"What would that offer be?" I wonder what he would want from a dead man like me, but it costs nothing to at least hear what he has to say since he didn't say something like 'I have a mission for you' I think I can probably refuse.
"Fufufu, it's something very simple, I want you to become a reincarnate in another world." When he says that, he starts to applaud, makes a few jumps, and shouts "Hey, hey, hey, hey.
"Huh?" For surprising me, I end up answering like an idiot.
The Trainee God sits in his chair again and gets his nose poked up while he turns around with the chair; he is a somewhat strange person... in truth a god. I wonder if the others are like that, too.
"You heard me very well, I want you to reincarnate in a world different from yours, this is a world that is on the verge of collapse, so we need something like heroes out there, take a look." The divinity in front of me points to the TV when she's done talking.
I can see monsters and people using magic to battle against them, the image changes and a man is trying to escape from a group of orcs, but ends up being caught and beaten to death, now a bunch of what looked like ghouls were devouring two girls who a second ago tried desperately to fight for their survival.
That God keeps looking at me with an enthusiastic face while all this is going on TV, but I can't feel the same thing as him, this world is extremely dangerous! How am I supposed to be happy about something like that?
I really hope the other gods won't be like him, otherwise, we'll all be lost.
"Before I decide, I remember very well you telling me that the gods don't interfere in society, isn't that a kind of interference?" I speak by looking him in the eye, I do not know if it is working very well, but my intention was to show my dissatisfaction with all that.
"We don't interfere directly, there are worlds that would be completely destroyed if we didn't give a little push, so we send something like 'gifts' to those worlds and many others too, always something that tries to evolve that world, people who contribute with technological advancement, for example, your original world has already had several of those, some that worked and others not so much..." As soon as the Lord finished speaking this last part he immediately put his hand in his mouth and covered it, he probably noticed the shit he had said.
"What do you mean 'some didn't work out'? What do you mean by that? Villains? Do you send villains to other worlds?" I end up getting angry and raising the tone of my voice a little, I didn't even think I was yelling at a god.
Instead of him feeling irritated that a human is talking to him that way, the god just shrinks in his chair.
"We?!" The deity tries to seem offended, but it wasn't working in any way, a lousy keeper of secrets and a lousy actor. "We... we would never send something like terrorists or dictators into your world." After finishing his speech, he tries to have a forced laugh.
He sounded a lot while trying to disguise somehow, really someone who can't lie, what he said now is even worse than what he had said before, they literally sent terrorists and dictators into our world! Where's that talk about our society being bad because of us?
"Well... Leaving these things irrelevant there" The God says by giving a weak whistle.
He just changed the subject! Oh... You know what? I just give up, this man is a complete idiot, give me back my first impression of you!
"Will, you or will you not accept my offer?" His face gets a little more serious when he talks before he was giving an air of being carefree, but now he was totally different.
"I... well..." I don't know exactly how to answer, I've been through a lot of bad things in my whole life, and from what I've been told I'll end up going to a dangerous place, just like before..., But...
I close my eyes, in my mind comes the voice of a person who spoke to me a long time ago "No matter what difficulty you are going through, remember that living is still the best option! To accept death is simply to give up the possibilities that the future may bring."
I close my eyes for a moment, it was as if I could hear the person's voice in my mind, a woman, her voice gave me a feeling of sadness and happiness at the same time, her face appears for a small moment in my mind, but then disappears.
When I remember that I open a smile unconsciously, my mind shuffles things up a lot and I can't remember his face anymore, but just like that person told me, I can't give up life, even though I'm already dead.
I let out a little laughter and the god looks at me with a curious look.
This is my second chance, I can do the right things, my chance for a fresh start.
"I accept" I answer by opening my eyes.
He looks at me and opens a big smile.
"I see." God rises. "So let's create your character!"
"What?"
Hey, guys, how's the reading going for you? Are you getting used to it? The first chapter is divided into two parts because of its size, but I hope it got good just the same. Next time you will see what it will become.
