"Thank you for your support, Lady Adele… I'll remember this and hopefully one day I can repay it back to you tenfold," Alvitr said with all her heart as she got a little emotional at this and couldn't help but shed a tear as while she holds Elisa in her arms, she was glad that her future was already secured with Adele making that kind of promise because she knows the power that her Teacher holds even if she is already old.
She doesn't have to worry about Adele failing to get the attention of Magian's Tower as even the magicians have to respect her because she is the most successful Scholar/Teacher in the Empire, as even to this day, some of them would still need to approach her if they need some guidance about almost everything that they do, especially about the Magic Circles. Even though Adele doesn't have any magic, she can easily theorize whether a magic circle would work fine or not.
Her theories were also fairly accurate as most of the time she is more than 80% correct in her theories making her a force to be reckoned with. That is why the entire Empire fears and respects her all at the same time, because of her knowledge and skills, which can even easily teach someone to be on her level, and the most notable one of that is Alvitr, her past student who to some can even say that she has already surpassed her in many ways.
"It's not a problem, you know me Alvitr… If I ever see a talented kid or just someone, I'll do my best to nurture them because I want my talents to be shared with everyone." Adele simply shook her head as she didn't need any thanks as she was doing this on her own accord. Adele simply wants to see how far Elisa would make it in this Empire, will she surpass her own, Mother? That was the question that was stuck in her mind because, in her mind and heart, Elisa's path was already set in stone.
But of course, there can still be some hardships along the way, as with such talent like hers, naturally, she will be the cause of envy, and she is not going to be surprised if people were to hire Assassins to kill her because they don't want to repeat when Alvitr almost took over the entire Empire with her battle prowess and calculating mind that was terrified every single Noble.
"Mommy? Do you want me to go to that Magician's Tower?" Elisa suddenly asked which snapped Alvitr back from her deep thoughts as she looked down at her daughter and when she saw a sad expression on her face, she already understood why. If Alvitr decided that Elisa should go to the Magician's Tower, it would most likely mean that she would have already graduated from the Royal Academy, and at the fastest, it would be two years at most, which means she is going to be 18.
After that, she's going to be forever stuck in the Magicain's Tower because that is the rule and law that whenever someone joins them. They are forever bound to them and there are only two ways for her to leave. The first one is that she can take over the Magician's Tower by showing her talent and after that, she can freely make a new rule and law about it and the last one is naturally death. It would completely void the contract since the Mage is already dead.
All of this means that it would hinder her chances of becoming what she wants to become in the future, which is to be a great Detective. That was her daughter's dream, she even expressed to her multiple times already of how she badly wanted it. Elisa would even take most of her time reading books about murder cases rather than studying or reading about Magic.
With this kind of realization, Alvitr felt conflicted, but mostly she felt guilty for Elisa as deep in her mind she wanted her to go to the path of being a Magician in the Tower because with her being there, she has nothing to fear. But her heart says otherwise as it was telling her to let her daughter pick whatever she wants as long as she is happy and safe. Because even if she chose not to join the Magician's Tower, her status of being a Detective and a Magician was more than enough.
But Alvitr just wants the best for her own daughter, and that is why she is conflicted about it.
"Mommy… Please don't let me join the Magician's Tower. I don't want to go there." For the first time when Elisa was born, Alvitr finally heard her express her desires as she pleaded for her to not force her to go to the Magician's Tower. This was the first time she had heard it because it always seemed that Elisa was content with what she had which she was grateful for, but at the same time worried.
She was worried because she didn't know if Elisa was just hiding her real feelings for her sake as she knew that when they were still living as commoners, she was just making enough to have food every day, so she couldn't really give any gifts or even Toys to Elisa which has been her deepest regret in her life. She regretted not having the chance to spoil her daughter with goods, so when she heard her request for the first time she gave up on her ideas.
"Shhh… Alright. If my baby girl doesn't want to go to the Magician's Tower then Mommy won't force you. Just promise me that you will train harder for your Magic because we don't want you accidentally hurting someone with your Magic, right?" Alvitr spoke softly while she kissed Elisa's daughter while making her promise so that she could at least have fewer worries about her.
"Yes, Mommy! I'll train harder and show the Empire that I will be the greatest Detective that they have ever seen, I'll do that with the help of my Magic!" Elisa said while clutching her tiny fists before cupping her Mother's cheeks and kissing them while giggling to herself as her previous sadness all melted away when she got the permission.
"You don't want to go to the Magician's Tower, Elisa? Care to tell this old Teacher why?" Even though Adele felt regretful that Alvitr wouldn't let her daughter go, she simply accepted and trusted her wishes as it was her daughter, not hers. But in her mind, she was also thinking the same as her children's happiness is her priority over everything.
"Well… first of all I don't want to be separated from Mommy, of course! But I read somewhere in a book that the Magician's Tower is a place full of scary people and I don't want that, especially because it is full of old people! Also! I have read that they won't let anyone leave once they enter, which is a big no for me!" Elisa said her reasons and when everyone heard her reasons, they couldn't help but chuckle.
All of them initially thought that the reason why she was reluctant was because she knew something that they didn't, but it seems that she was just being a child as her reasons were just the ones that a child would think of. But hearing this, they were still glad that she wanted to be tainted just yet with the real dark side of the Empire since she didn't know about the contract of the Magician's Tower.
"I see… but isn't being a Detective also scary because most of the time you will be solving murder cases?" Adele asked with a smile as she was amused with her reason, she then asked her if she was not scared as in her mind it was scary being a detective as she was working with corpses and murderers.
"No! I don't think so… Because people are a lot scarier when they are alive than when they are dead. Also, I have always been fascinated by puzzles and mysteries! So it is not scary for me."
