"You're scaring me, Nikita." Kingsley, fully dressed sat at the patio next to her sipping on a beer he had sneaked from the fridge. He leaned back on his seat and watched as her eyes drifted from side to side anxiously.

"There is no reason for you to be scared, really, rather this is something that should worrying me alone. Here goes... it started maybe a hundred and fifty something years ago, I was like a teenager then and was learning royal ettiquet at the time, nothing out of the ordinary."

"Wait, royal, why would you be learning royal behaviour?" He asked and she answered him with an amused look on her face and sighed.

"It makes sense for the heir of the throne, don't you think?" He said nothng in reply and only fell silent to listen.

"Anyway, I was oblivious to what my father had been planning, it didn't even make sense when my ladies in waiting explained it to me. If I was to ascend the throne I wasn't supposed to be a...a virgin. I was in shock and refused to come out to attend any of my mannerism classes. I was disgusted and utterly speechless, but mostly I was scared. What would happen to me? What did they mean by that?...That question in my mind was answered pretty soon." He stood up and dropped his drink staring at her in disbelief, and held his hand over his mouth as the other was on his hip.

She waited him to access what she was about to say, but he told her severally not to say anything just yet, so she waited. The sounds of cars honking and sirens in a typical city echoed in the daylight. She heard him sigh and then he nodded for her to continue.

"It happened too fast. It was a festive night and for reasons I knew not of. I knew that I was taken to a different room and dressed in a traditional attire, and made to wait on the bed. I was panicking and I wasn't stupid but I couldn't get out...I was too late on figuring out what was happening." He noticed streams of wet tears coming from her eyes and fought back the urge to hold her, he might have made her uncomfortable.

"You don't have to tell me if it hurts you so much, Nikita." He said but she just shrugged and didn't bother with the two lined of moisture forming on her face.

"I wish I would've known and the room barged in to reveal one of our court officials, He closed the door behind him and...the only thing I remember was pain and feeling vulnerable and at that moment something just snapped, I had had enough of this stupid traditions, so I did something I regret...I murdered them all, his was a worse fate. He took my innocence and thought that he could get away with it in the name of 'traditions'. I killed...over and over and over."

"Nikita..."

"I was stopped severally, or... they had tried to stop me, but by the time I knew what I had done, I had eliminated half of the population single handedly. My father had me arrested and starved for days, weeks even, Our food is human beings, specifically brains, not like zombies though." He watched as she narrated and made no attempt to laugh at her badly orchestrated joke.

"I was banished from the throne, and into the mortal realm that's where I met you and I guess the reason I was unconscious when we met was from starvation. Even if it didn't last long, I am forever indebted to you Kingsley, for a home, a place to sleep and affection you showed with your hospitality, but I cannot involve you in my business."

"So that's it? The end of my butler services? But that aside, I am so sorry that happened to you, you didn't deserve any of that and damn them, all of them for not being reasonable with you. But I will not pretend noting happened in the time I've known you."

"Kingsley, please..."

"I may be human and I might be new to all this but damnit all, I can't think of leaving you on your own, I always feel responsible for you. For the first time in my life, that responsibility doesn't feel like work but a memorable time in my life."

"Your life is on the line if you get involved! Don't you understand a word I'm saying?! I can't do that to you." She said and searched for breath in the silence, man the woman was stubborn, but that's what made her...her.

"I say let me help, the least I can do is try."

"I will do no such thing." She said turning away.

"If you don't let me help I'll kiss you again." He said grinning a wide smile that reached his eyes. She felt that rush again and shivered it off and faced him calmly. How dare he...a mere mortal.

"You wouldn't dare, I still haven't forgiven you for the last."

"Sorry but not sorry, I will help or I can kiss you and not stop just there, so unless you want our obvious physical attraction to stay as is I suggest we work together, Nikita, your call." And he walks out like this was normal, Was she just threatened or seduced? The nerve of him.
