CHAPTER 11

When I got to class that day, everyone was in a stir and on their phones. The murmuring was louder than usual and from what I could tell from their faces was that it didn't look like exciting news. I sat there and took out my phone and went directly to Quora to check what everyone was yapping about.

"Kings, I thought you weren't coming to class today." Valerie said as she sat down next to me and showed me her phone, and I still didn't understand what I was seeing.

"Why is everyone in a panic anyway? Did I miss something?" She stared at me in shock and shook her head and typed something in her phone.

"Three seniors from the economy class were found dead in there class rooms yesterday and no trace of a murder by a serial killer or anything." I scoffed and had to laugh a little.

"Dead? Are you sure they weren't messing around with drugs? Is that what people have been afraid of?" I asked Valerie shook her head slowly and took a deep breath before showing me a blurred photo.

"Not exactly, there's a rumor that it was a red fur fox that broke into the school. And two more people in the city were reported dead by the same creature what do you think this could mean?" She asked and then walked off before I could say anything. The sudden news was shocking, but things like these never used to bother me. Well, that was until I realized that I knew exactly who the culprit was.

When the lecturer arrived I heard a buzz in my pocket, it was a message and I opened it to see a selfie of Nikita and bunny shaped cookies, she was smiling so broadly like nothing had happened, if I hadn't let that happen God only knows if she would have survived or not.

"Mr. Ross, is my class bothering you that much?" The old geezer asked, the whole class turned to look at me as I put away my phone slowly, I shook my head as the old man scoffed and went back to explaining. Most times in class I couldn't even hear any thing it seemed so pointless, but this was what I wanted to be in life, a doctor just like...him. He helped people and made a difference that's what I also want, to do something to remember him by.

"Mr. Ross, meet me in my office after class." The professor said after the lecture was over, people turned to me again and this time they were chuckling or laughing. I never get human humor, it made no sense at all, so I ignore them and leave, that was part of the reason why I hated coming to school, even in high school.

Knock!Knock!

"Come in, Mr. Ross, have a seat." The professor said typing something into his key board I couldn't help but roll my eyes and hope that this was going to end quickly. I sat down and looked around hoping that he could say something quick. The room was not as extra ordinary as any teacher's room. Trophies, loads of files and books everywhere, not that I was expecting anything special.

"Kingsley, I want to find out one thing from you and I would like an honest answer." He started and I nodded immediately waiting for this to end. "Why are you in this university, Kingsley? To become popular."

"No sir."

"When you came in here the first day, you didn't look enthusiastic about joining this institution at all, and yet your grades never cease to impress me. Your attitude is making you seem like your being forced to be here and is that the case?" The man asked me again, so that was the kind of aura people thought I was going with?

"Of coarse its an honor to learn in the world's finest universities and my grades are a product of what I love doing the most and that is studying and reaching my goal, I have never had the pleasure to gain any popularity here and that's never bothered me, so no, I'm not being forced to be here sir." I answered the man smiled and leaned back on his leather coated chair.

"I hope that nothing changes and you continue to hold on to your ambitions and of coarse get the proper learning experience, that is the best the school can offer you, I was however not impressed with your lack of concentration today, that isn't much like you. Please, concentrate on the lectures and refrain from embarrassing me in front of my other students."

"It won't happen again sir, today was unlike me and I promise to go back to concentrating on my studies." I said and the room became silent, the only audible thing was a ticking clock behind him.

"Kingsley, you are an exceptional student and I am happy that you are leaning on the right direction, I don't want you to lose sight of your own potential. I believe you'll make a big difference in the medical world one day, boy." That talk was surprising, I had never actually heard anyone praising me for being smart in my life, it felt like relief and joy washing over me.

"I won't let you down, I won't let that become an option when I'm here." He excused me to leave and the first thing I thought about was going to treat myself...right after I finish my shift at my part time job.

Ring! Ring! I heard my phone ring and dug it out of my bag only to smile at the name on the screen.

"Nikita, is something wrong?" I asked crossing the road away from school, she chuckled and I heard ruffling before she spoke.

"Nothing is wrong, silly, home is getting a bit stuffy, but I had fun baking today, did you see the picture I sent you, I'm so happy they turned out so well. The was flour and sugar everywhere I thought I got the tutorials wrong, anyway, it came out a light brown kind of mixture, it didn't look normal at all..." It was always like this, she had more to tell me about her day than I ever did, I'm also glad that she was getting used to the new lifestyle. Listening to her, was always something I was looking forward to after a long day, her sweet stories and her thoughts.

Despite all I knew about the murders and that she had killed to survive, under all that killer instinct, there was a soft and loving person, that could cheer you up when you are feeling low, and you didn't need other people's problems disturbing your peace. She was a drug I was getting addicted to and if I didn't get a daily dose of her I found myself feeling depressed. I was noticing the feelings I was starting to develop for her, but for now I was just going to enjoy the company of my innocent minded room mate.

"Nikita I had a thought today and I thought you might like it. How about we go for a one week getaway, just the two of us..."

I hope you enjoyed this one, I don't know if the story is becoming more romantic or just dramatic well we will just have to see, thank guys
