The Founders of the Shadows World

It exists, in the universe, a world of darkness. Far from the light, far from everything that may be alive. A world made as a warm and comfortable cocoon for those who have nowhere to go. The Ombrae. The world of the eternal night. While Kingdoms rise and fall, heroes and monsters fight and make peace, the Ombrae will always open its doors to those seeking shelter. Sometimes in the nightmares of the living can be heard the moaning of the refugees. For those who have fallen in disgrace, those who want to be forgotten. It feels so cold in Ombrae. Where are our brothers and sisters, where are our children? It is so calm in Ombrae. Listening to the call of our King and then his son, the Prince, in the darknesses we rise. It is so warm in Ombrae.

The first pact

Tridjan remained calm. It was true that the majority of Archanium's worshipers were violent and strong, but their faith was only conditioned by their greed to be a god and their fear of the darkness of the North. It was for this reason that Tridjan had won worshipers, even though he had never been to the continent before that day. Archanium, in his ego, was completely blind to what was happening to mortals and for a long time had only cared about his favorite little tribe and its golden-eyed leader.

"Don't raise more 'gods', don't give any more golden favors, and we'll see what happens."

In reality, Tridjan had always been discreet. He appeared on earth at the same time as Archanium and Zarkhaim. He had always been in the waters of the underworld and lived far from his two brothers. Tridjan liked peace and quiet. He was a lone wolf, happy in the silence of the waters. When Archanium pushed the world and changed it, Tridjan was pulled out of the abyss and joined the central sea, but he paid no attention to the lands and territories far from the waters. He always lived free of everything, swimming and not worrying about world affairs.

When people began to build boats and take an interest in the sea, they happened to see him swimming. If Tridjan didn't pay them any attention, the humans would return to land and spread the news that they had seen the God of the Sea. They began to invent stories about him. Sometimes a savior, sometimes an avenger. The God of the Sea was a just and impartial God. They built temples in every fishing village and worshiped him, thinking that their success would depend on their offerings.

In reality, Tridjan didn't care about any of this. If he began to feel a little compassion and love for these weak humans who worshiped him, he only took pleasure in watching them evolve without ever intervening.

Archanium, Zarkhaïm, and Tridjan were like wild animals searching for who would be the one to start the fight and break the truce. Archanium watched Tridjan with hate as he was provocative towards him.

"Agreed. I will not interfere anymore in their life, and you will see how superior they are. The ones worshiping you are wrong, and they will discover it very soon."

Tridjan moved forward his hand towards Archanium.

"Deal, Brother."

And Archanium grabbed his hand with force.

"Deal, brother."

The three of them parted away after this long and intense discussion, everyone returned to his own territory. Tridjan came back to the sea, deeper in the abysses. Archanium came back to his golden city in the sky, and Zarkhaïm came back to the dark North.

Zarkhaïm passed the death entrance, the path where all the nightmares creatures were stocked to stop the humans from attacking the Jessadians. The master of the Night was coming back home, and the news spread quickly. He walked calmly to his landmark. With time, he decided to live a bit outside the city, he had found a cave in the rocks and lived there for a while now. As he was almost there, he saw the figure of a Jessadian waiting for him.

No matter the years, she never changed. She still kept the habit to wait for him on the spot where he let her, even if she was a grown adult, leader of her race. A strong and powerful being, she was there. On her knees watching the sky, watching patiently to see his wings appearing in the horizon.

A big smile appeared on Zuline's face as she saw him, and she welcomed him. She had been very anxious at his sudden departure. He didn't take the time to explain to her why he left.

He joined her, and they sat together next to the grotto. They were watching the sky as they used to do every evening. She laid on his knees and he petted her head gently. She had always acted like a little child with him, regardless of her age or position in the clan. Furthermore, she closed her eyes, finally happy to see him home again.

He was troubled, she didn't ask any questions, but he needed to share it with her.

"Zuline, we discovered another being like me and Archanium. There are three of us."

She opened her eyes wide, at first excited and delighted for him, but then she thought of Archanium and became frightened. The prospect of having another belligerent, arrogant, domineering god around really terrified her. He smiled, amused by her reaction, and continued.

"His name is Tridjan, he seems reasonable. I have good hopes for the future with him. He will be a good brother, and maybe he will be able to stop Archanium whenI was not able to."

He lowered his head to watch her and realized her big eyes were staring at him with a kind smile.

"You are not responsible for Archanium behavior. He has chosen this path by himself. We both know he is true evil, he likes blood and suffering. None of this is your fault, Zarkhaïm."

Zarkhaïm took a deep breath as he was listening to her kind words. Zuline always had the power to make him feel better.

"We talked about the Jessadians tonight. It was decided that your people will be safe as long as they stay out of the conflicts. Nobody will harm you anymore."
