Chapter 5: Timeskip & Date with Grayfia

Before this chapter starts, this will be a decent time skip, about 11 years, There will be various updates from things that happened throughout the years but it round out to a bit more than 11 years.

***********************************************************

*Two Years Later*

It's been two years since I turned five, and I was finally able to 'master' my family's magic, and was able to fully unlock my matter manipulation powers.

.

Power Level: High Class Devil - Mid

Training Recommendation: Train your Space Manipulation more and the overall capacity you can handle.

.

I was getting older and stronger, but my training speed was starting to get slower since I was doing more than just training my control and was training both my control and specific powers.

*Three Years Later*

It's been another three years and I'm ten years old now, though I look about thirteen. I've gotten a lot closer with everyone and we spend all our time training together and spending time together. Training my space powers was much more difficult than matter manipulation powers, but I finally got so proficient in matter manipulation I could make any object from just the different chemicals in the air. I essentially have creation magic.

I've also started training in basic combat and martial training, like swords, spears etc. Though other than that I still haven't finished mastering Spatial magic, but I have perfect control once again. We've also all learned to make teleportation circles, which is nice to have access to.

*Two Years Later*

After two more years I have finally gotten my Spatial magic mastered, once again I got a power boost from my system releasing it's control on my powers and I also unlocked another power, Time Manipulation. 'Training'

.

Power Level: High Class Devil - Peak

Training Recommendation: Fully train your Space Manipulation more and the overall power capacity you can handle.

Once again, nothing has really changed much in these few years, but tensions in the nobility are high, and I can tell something serious is going on, but none of us know, though I suspect mom does. Another reason for my suspicion, other than knowing the war is coming in the near future, is that my mother has been teaching me military tactics.

*Four Years Later*

It's been another four years and while I haven't made it to ultimate class, I've finally convinced myself to stop training, and actually take Grayfia and Serafall on a date. We are getting married in less than two years and while we've spent a large majority of our time together all we've been doing is training. If I didn't know the great war was coming soon, and I wasn't paranoid about everyone's safety, I probably would've convinced myself to do it sooner.

Well, there was no use dwelling on the past. I woke up in the morning, getting a decent shirt and pants before making my way to where Grayfia was staying. Both her and Serafall had permanent rooms here, partly because they would move here after our wedding, but also because of how often they are both here, which is almost more than their own houses.

I arrived outside of Grayfia's room and knocked on the door. She opened the door, and I have to say, now that she is 16, she is as beautiful as I expected. "Hello Val, are you ready to start training?" She said with a smile when she saw me outside of the door.

I gave her a wry smile, only now realizing how much I've been ignoring anything other than getting stronger and shook my head, "No, put on something nice, how about we go on a date around Lilith today?" Hearing me asking her on a date, she smile brightly before nodding me and pushing me away from the door and shutting it before running off into her room.

I shake my head and yell out, "I'm going to find mom and tell her that we're going out for a bit today." Hearing a muffled yell of affirmation from behind the door, I walk off down to my mother's office where I find her working on paperwork. Knowing my mother as well as I do, I know she hasn't been to sleep yet, and likely hasn't been for a few days. While she can go just fine for a long time without sleep, it's still better for her to get it whenever she can, especially with the great war getting so close.

I walk up behind her and start to give her a gentle shoulder massage, "Mom, you need to rest more, I know you have a lot of work, but it will still be there after you get some sleep. Though I know you don't want to tell us, there is a war coming, you need as much sleep as you can get." I lightly reprimanded her.

She sighed, "I know, part of the reason I have so much work is because the war is coming. Mhnn~ Is that why you came in here, to tell me your worries?" she asked, giving a content groan at my massaging.

"No, I came to tell you Grayfia and I will be heading to Lilith for a few hours."

"Finally! Took you long enough to think of something other than training." She teased. We continued with some idle chat, and after twenty minutes or so, Grayfia walked into the office in a black skirt with a white blouse and he hair tied into a ponytail.

"Okay, I'm ready. Good morning mother-in-law, you should really get some rest you know." Grayfia said as she walked into the room, looking first at me, then at my mom.

"I know, I know. I'll get some in a little bit. Now go on you two, enjoy your date."

I walked over to Grayfia and intertwined my fingers with hers before drawing a magic circle to a place we frequented in the merchants district. "We'll be back later mom, get some rest before then."

Our vision darkened before arriving in a bustling street with devils walking around in various sized groups. Lining the buildings were street vendors selling various things from clothes to food to even weapons. We walked up to one of the nearby food stalls which was selling crepes, and the woman selling them was looking down at the ones she was currently making, "Hello, what can I get you?" She asked still paying attention to what she was making.

"Two chocolate crepes please." I said back, hearing my voice she looked up with a surprised face before smiling brightly, "Sure thing Lord Maara, it's good to see you, thank you for last time."

"Don't mention it." I said back with a smile. Grayfia looked at me with an expectant expression. "Last time I was here, she was getting harassed by a few subordinates of the Naberius clan, and I dealt with them for her." She nodded in reply and didn't say anything. The woman held out two crepes out to me, which I took and gave one to Grayfia. "How much?" I asked the shop owner. "Please, it's on the house, as a thank you for last time."

I smiled wryly, "I appreciate the gesture, and I mean no offense by this, but you need the money much more than I do, so please let me pay for it anyways." The woman smiled wryly as well, "Well. If you insist, it will be 10 soul coins." I nodded and pulled out a token that had an X on it, (Roman numeral for 10) and gave it to her.

She thanked me once again as we left continuing to walk around trying different foods and Grayfia even got a few clothes at different stalls. We were almost done when we ran into someone we both knew well. In front of us was a handsome, green haired teenager along with a short blonde haired girl.

"Hey Ajuka, didn't expect to see you here." I said approaching the two.

Looking back with a raised eyebrow he said, "Your one to talk Valerian, you never stop training. It's good to see you again Grayfia." he said rolling his eyes at me and smiling at Grayfia. She smiled back, "Yes it has been a while Ajuka. Whose this?"

"Ahh, right, forgive me, this is Reyna Phenex, she is my fiancé. We actually met at your birthday party Val." (No she isn't Riser and Ravels mother, she's her younger sister, an OC.)

"About that, I tried to forget most of what happened that day, with a few exceptions. I'm not one for parties, or politics, but I don't have much of a choice being heir and all. Not only that, most of the people there are pompous assholes who think they're better than everyone else when they're not at all. Anyways, how's your training going?"

Grayfia deadpanned at me and pinched my waist, while Ajuka just rolled his eyes, "Yeah, I just want to do my research and most nobles always try to get in the way since I want people who are smart, I don't care about their birth. Still, you and training, I'll never get it. Even if I train the majority of my time, I still think about other things. Well, just so you know, I'm about to get my 3rd pair of wings. I agree, most of the noble houses are a pain in the ass to deal with."

I smiled wryly at the two, "Yeah, yeah, sorry but you three couldn't have missed how high tensions are right now in the noble clans, not only that I'm sure someone as observant as you can notice people getting ready for war Ajuka."

He sighed tiredly, "Yes I have, which is why I've been training harder lately, I just needed a break. Not everyone can train for ten years straight and not need a break like you."

Reyna also nodded, "I've been training too, but I'm still a little ways away from being high class. Though I will hopefully be there before this war starts, thankfully Ajuka made me start training seriously a few years ago."

I smiled at her, "You should be able to get there. I should get my 4th pair of wings by then, which means I'll more than likely be commanding a part of our forces by then. Who knows, I might end up being one of your commanders." I said the last part jokingly.

Ajuka just nodded while Grayfia pulled my arm. I assumed it was her wanting me to change the subject, so I spoke up, "Anyways, enough about that, working on anything new Ajuka?"

"Nothing right now, but since there's a war coming up, I might do some research on better defensive options. Since we are weak to holy magic, I was thinking on working on something to prevent that."

I nodded at his thoughts and decided to throw this out now, "Why not work on something to help reincarnate humans as devils by tying them to someone who is already a devil, like as a subordinate/servant."

"That's... Actually a really good idea. It won't have much use for the war itself but it would help with recuperation after it."

"Well, we don't even know how bad the casualties will be for this, it might be better to wait a bit to do that and focus on the defensive options first." He nodded at my words, but I could tell he was already thinking about my suggestion. I decided that I would help him develop it more later on. With that we said our goodbyes and headed back home.
