Step into the land of Veridia, where danger and magic collide in a spellbinding tale of love and freedom. Meet Elara, a rebellious young human girl trapped in a cruel and unfair world. She is abused in every way imaginable. That includes financial exploitation, cruel words, and even physical violence. Her spirit, however, is unbreakable, shining through the darkness that surrounds her. On the other side of Veridia is Caspian. He is a noble demigod king who takes his responsibilities very seriously. He prefers law and order. And he is concerned about anything that might disturb his peaceful kingdom. But fate has other plans. Despite their differences, Elara and Caspian find themselves drawn to each other. Their connection is forbidden, but it brings them comfort and excitement. Their feelings intensified. And it called into question their beliefs and the paths they thought they would take. Can Elara and Caspian put aside their differences? Can they work together to defy expectations? Or will their own desires drive them apart, putting Veridia in danger? EXCERPT: Elara took a bold step forward. Her voice dripped with confidence as she faced Caspian. "I am not going to let Veridia control me, and I am not going to be anyone's puppet; I am going to live freely, with or without you." Caspian's eyes glinted dangerously. And he approached in a low, intense tone. "You are not getting away that easily, no chance." Caspian reached out and grabbed Elara by the waist in an unexpected move. Their lips met in a daring, passionate kiss that felt like a challenge to the rest of the world. It was a clash of strong wills, a battle filled with urgent intensity. They finally drew away, both breathing heavily. "This kiss is not something we can ignore, Elara." Elara's pupils constricted. A mix of rage and desire danced in them. “Don't mistake this kiss for surrender, Caspian But for the time being, I will go along with it. Remember, I'm not a helpless damsel waiting to be saved. I am a force to be reckoned with, and you'll need to keep up if you want to be part of my world." Everything else faded away as they focused solely on each other. Their clash was like a raging storm, wild and untamed. And they wavered on the brink of surrender and control. ----------------------------------------- Feel free to get in touch with me: FB: author aelia IG: authoraelia Website: authoraelia.wordpress.com Mail: author.aelia@gmail.com Discord: https://discord.gg/T6MfDdpe

Not A Damsel in Distress

Elara's heart quickened as she laid eyes on the stranger in the cloak.

'Who is he?' she wondered. 'I've never seen someone so mysterious and concealed before.'

As she confronted the cloaked man, she tried to sound strong. But beneath the surface, a hint of nervousness lingered.

Her eyes darted to every detail she could sense. He stood tall and composed. And he gave off a commanding presence despite his hidden features.

"He seems so authoritative," she observed. And she felt both allured and intimidated by his aura.

But then something unexpected happened. The man lowered his head in a respectful bow.

"I'm sorry, milady," he said with a deep voice that echoed through the air. "I didn't mean to bother you while you were resting."

Elara's heart fluttered as she listened to his voice. It was strong and commanding, making her feel curious about him. "Um, it's okay," she mumbled, surprised by his politeness.

He didn't stop there. "I should have been more careful," he continued, his words sounding fancy and precise. "I didn't mean to step on your toes."

Her toes still hurt a little, but there was something intriguing about the man. She found herself wanting to hear more of his words.

"It's fine," she managed to say, feeling a bit captivated by him. "But saying sorry won't fix your toes, right?" she blurted out immediately.

"You're right, milady," he admitted, not missing a beat. "I apologize. Your toes must hurt."

Elara couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at his response. "Yeah, they do."

Elara looked at him, her thoughts racing. 'He seems polite, but I shouldn't let my guard down,' she concluded silently.

"Be careful next time," she said, her tone a bit sharp. "Saying sorry doesn't make my toes feel better."

"I understand," he said again, sounding sincere. "We Veridians should always be mindful of our surroundings."

Looking around, Elara saw the man's curious eyes examining the area. "Are you okay, milady?" he asked, his voice carrying concern. "Why are you here all alone?"

She felt a bit defensive, her chin lifting a little. "I can take care of myself, you know. I don't need help, especially not from someone I don't know."

With a graceful movement, she sat up straight, her voice firm. "And being alone is my decision, just like everything else I do."

The man seemed surprised, his response slower than she expected.

"I didn't mean to question you or make you uncomfortable," he said calmly. "I only thought this place could be dangerous, and I wanted to make sure you're safe."

He stepped back, giving her more space, but his confidence remained strong. His calmness matched her determination.

The man's words made Elara's eyes narrow. She remained cautious, her guard still up. However, his concern touched something inside her.

"'My safety,'" she repeated softly, the phrase foreign but oddly comforting.

Her life had been filled with self-reliance. She never relied on others for protection or care.

Elara gave a small nod, her voice steady. "I appreciate your worry, kind sir. But I can manage on my own in these woods."

With a graceful tilt of her head, she offered a farewell. Her determination to be independent was unyielding. And she intended to continue her journey alone.

But as she started to walk away, her confident steps faltered. Suddenly off balance, she teetered.

"Oh!" The word slipped out before she could react.

Yet, before she could hit the ground, the cloaked man's swift actions came to her aid. His strong arms wrapped around her waist, preventing her fall.

In that fleeting moment, Elara's heart raced as their bodies touched. A jumble of strange feelings stirred within her. And it left her both bewildered and curious.

The sensation was odd – a mix of surprise, vulnerability, and an unexplainable comfort. It was unlike anything she had ever experienced.

"Are you alright? Are you hurt?" His voice held genuine concern as he held onto her, helping her regain her balance.

Elara managed a shaky nod, her cheeks still flushed. Words seemed to escape her in the midst of these newfound feelings.

'You were so confident just a moment ago. Now look at you. You're the stupid idiot,' she scolded herself, mentally kicking herself.

"I-I'm okay," she stammered. Her voice sounded unsteady even to her own ears.

His gaze felt heavy on her. And she couldn't help but shift her eyes away, feeling vulnerable under his scrutiny.

"I'm relieved you're not hurt," he said, his tone warm and gentle.

As she said that, she couldn't shake off the strange mix of emotions. 'Why does he make me feel like this?' she wondered.

Elara cleared her throat, stepping back to regain her balance and composure. She wanted to show that she was strong and could handle herself.

"I'm perfectly fine, milord," she stated, a touch of defensiveness in her voice. "I don't need anyone to rescue me. I can take care of myself."

She noticed him studying her, as if trying to understand her reaction or his own thoughts.

It felt like an eternity before he finally responded.

"I didn't mean to imply that you needed saving, milady," he reassured, his tone sincere. "I have a duty to assist when needed, that's all."

Elara's suspicion lingered as she eyed the stranger's outstretched hand.

"And what's your duty telling you now?" she challenged, her voice steady.

"My duty tells me that you might not be feeling well. Allow me to escort you home," he suggested, his voice carrying a note of genuine care.
