The Test

The woman was furious at Novis, she kept on screaming at him and all he would do in response was apologize again and again

"But Miss Roccia I brought you a very interesting man here, I'm sure he has a lot of potential and he even wants to join the school"

She glances at the fool and stares at him for a couple of seconds, analyzing him from top to bottom,

"Hmm he doesn't really seem that interesting, he's also very dirty, I don't want any germs in my lab either."

"You two realize I can talk right?"

"Oh right, state your name and reason for joining then."

"My name is Luce Solstice and I would like to meet the King if anything, this is the best way to do so no?"

"My brother Darius? If you're smart and lucky enough you could probably meet him in a year but that's about it."

"𝘉𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳? 𝘐 𝘨𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘐'𝘥 𝘮𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘰𝘯"

"Well, how should I get started?"

"There would be three tests available for you but Darius broke one, we had a very advanced magic detection system that would detect how much power you have but he exerted so much power and potential he ended up breaking it on accident, he may be a King and all now but he sure is clumsy sometimes. So you can either take the written test or you can go ahead and somehow manage to kill a Dragon, but let's be honest, no one is that crazy or strong to even do that."

"Yea I'm not really sure why it's a part of the test either, they should've made it just any normal wolf in the wasteland I'm sure they're tough enough"

"Oh really? I mean I don't really think it would be that difficult."

The two of them look at the fool in confusion

"You're joking right?"

"Why would I?"

"You realize it takes at least ten mages to take down one singular Dragon, these are beings of pure evil and calamity."

"Luce you're surely joking, right?"

"Well if you two are going to keep questioning me I might as well just go there and show you."

"I can't go I need to take care of the lab so you'll have to go with Novis."

Novis seems a bit shy and nervous but since he was told to go he doesn't really have a choice

"𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘦𝘴 𝘮𝘦 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦, 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘋𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘰𝘯? 𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭, 𝘐 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘦. 𝘐 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐'𝘮 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘺, 𝘶𝘴𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘺 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘤 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵."

"Well less class for me then, come on Luce let's go"

They both exit the lab and walk down the hallway

"Are you extremely sure that you can beat this Dragon?"

"Of course don't even worry about it, it's me after all."

"Well just don't die ok if anything we can just run as fast as we can."

"Either way you're going to be staying from a far distance so don't worry."

"What? You know I can help you somewhat right?"

"I don't know you're magic, nor how strong you are, but what I do know is that you seem quite soft and weak like"

he pokes his arm a little the moment he says that

"Hey I'm plenty useful ok, don't underestimate me."

"So do you want to go on and fight the Dragon yourself then?"

"Well... is it really just going to be me and you? You're not going to call anyone to help or anything?"

"Yeah, that's the plan."

"If it makes you feel better, I do know three different types of magic."

"What? No that's not possible, every mage has one inner magic and that's about it."

"You're not wrong, but you're not entirely right either. Oh well, you'll find out soon."

The two of them finally exit the school with the sun shining bright and the wind having a nice gentle breeze.

"You know Novis I didn't know your hair was that bright and blue. It's quite something."

"Well thanks, I guess." Novis gets flustered by the fool's comment and isn't quite sure how he should act but he ends up pretending he heard nothing and starts heading towards the gate with the fool.

"Oh back already? And who's this kid with you." says the guard a little confused at why the fool has returned already.

"I'm just going to go kill a Dragon and this is my friend Novis."

"After seeing you arrive at the Kingdom like that, I'm not even going to question your actions anymore, do as you please."

"𝘞𝘢𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘶𝘱 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘪𝘮"

The wastelands are vast but if they're going to summon a Dragon they should do it at a far distance from the Kingdom as it could possibly damage it. There are two ways to summon one, either by casting a spell large enough with the intent of calling it, or by being unlucky in general.

"𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘢 𝘣𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘥𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘶𝘴 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘨𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘸𝘦'𝘳𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘺"

"Before I start this Novis I have a question for you."

"Sure you can ask me anything."

"Anything anything?

"You know what I mean ok"

The fool chuckles "I love messing with you, anyways before I start this what exactly is your magic?"

"Well, It's actually Water."

He raises his hand in front of him and an orb of Water starts appearing from thin air swirling and swirling within itself until it eventually drops, splashing his pants with a bit of it.

"Can I drink that?"

"Of course, that's what you ask first, and yes, you can."

"Good to know I'll keep that in mind."

"Does my magic not make you think less of me?"

"Why would it? Looks pretty useful to me"

"𝘕𝘰 𝘰𝘯𝘦'𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵, 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘰𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘐'𝘮 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐'𝘮 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧𝘧 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺. 𝘐𝘵 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭'𝘴 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦"

"Anyways I'm going to need you to hide somewhere, that rock over there seems good enough."

He points towards quite a big boulder

"That's more than just a rock but whatever you say. You better kill it ok?"

"You sit and watch, just trust me."

The fool raises his hand and points at the sky.

"You better be a worthy opponent Dragon."

He fires a massive beam of light straight toward the clouds and in a matter of seconds, a massive Dragon appears. It was dark blue with very vibrant green eyes, its scales looked as if they were plates of armor.

"WHO IS THE USELESS HUMAN THIS TIME TO CALL UPON ME"

"𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘦, 𝘐'𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘢 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘣𝘪𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘥𝘰 𝘪𝘧 𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘴? 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘐 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘳𝘶𝘯 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯? 𝘏𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘣𝘶𝘵, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘧 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘥 𝘐 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘳𝘶𝘯 𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘴 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯"

"Hey big lizard, Come down here and die quickly will you?"

"HOW DARE YOU EVEN CALL ME A LIZARD I AM FAR SUPERIOR YOU KNOW THAT RIGHT?"

"Yeah yeah, whatever now come down here."

The dragon looks down upon the fool and starts getting ready to breathe fire upon the entire ground

"You're no fun you know that, I was going to save this trick for later but oh well."

The fool starts touching his boots imbuing them with Thunder as he did earlier but they appear slightly different. This time they have some wings on each side.

"You wanted this not me."

He starts crunching down with his hands touching the ground for a couple of seconds until he springs up and leaps so high up in the air he can even see the clouds but what's most important is he gets right into the Dragons face and starts preparing his signature right hook

"You asked for this."

He punches the Dragon right in his mouth stopping the flame and shattering its scales. the impact was so hard it even dazes the beast as it slowly falls to the ground.

"YOU CAN DO THIS LUCE I BELIEVE IN YOU"
