She didn’t know what else to call it. It was never explicitly set out in either his journals or the old green book that what he was doing or learning about was magic. The green book seemed to be more a collection of instructions; clearly spells would have been a good word to use, but he seemed to go out of his way not to give it that name and likewise he never once used the word magic in of itself. He talked about pulling energy, manipulating something he called kias, using power. He never talked about doing magic or creating a spell.
