The Beginning of A Mystical Tale

"Hey, Ty! How long are you gonna take, man?" Questioned my best friend and roommate, Ricky. Even if I did not like the notion of rushing my appearance. Yet he did have a point regarding my slow pace. After all, we had both bought tickets to see a magic show that had just arrived in town. The main star was a famous female magician who stole the spotlight unexpectedly known as The Mystical Esmeralda. "We need to get going soon if you want to see your not-so-secret real-life waifu girl in person." He teased with a smudged smirk on his face.

Upon hearing this, a deep red blush formed on my face as I grabbed my jacket. A bit of information regarding myself, my name is Tyrik Kage, and I am a Japanese American. My mother was a well-known private investigator named Amari. For what I look like, I was your standard young adult guy with teal highlights within my black short hair that was styled to give me a somewhat 'cool guy' look. Though, in truth, I was just some comic and anime geek who likes to play video games with Ricky. I was somewhat socially awkward, unfortunately, due to my autism, leaving Ricky, my only true friend, throughout my years going through school. I tend to wear a themed T-shirt mixed with blue jeans and basic shoes. Yet, even if I didn't care about my clothing. I did try to look interesting in other aspects.

Ricky, though, was a Filipino who managed to move to the US back when he was seven. He had messy brown hair and decent taste in style, even though he would look like he was a slacker you wouldn't want with you. His attire was a collared shirt with a vest over it, matched with dress pants and stylish shoes. Ricky had on a few necklaces and piercings on his right ear. His body build was a bit chubby yet displayed that he did take visits to the gym, though they were a bit far between to actually call him fit. Surprisingly, we shared a lot of common interests, and he helped me open up... Well, until recently, due to being used by my first girlfriend, Valerie...

To put it simply, she was the high school's darling and lead cheerleader. But when she asked me to prom I did not think much of it until I discovered that Valerie just wanted me for my body and pulled a stunt that made me the school's laughing stock from freshman year to senior year... Thankfully, all of that was in the past, and I have managed to move on from these events, at least mostly.

For what and who we were heading out to see was a magic show, Ricky's suggestion full-heartedly, at The Radio City Music Hall. Most of all, the main star of the show was The Mystical Esmeralda Ravenna, a World Famous Magician. Those who have witnessed her performance have remarked that her magic was one of the most realistic live performances of "mystical tricks." Though, I highly doubt that Esmeralda was using real magic like Percy Jackson or Lord of The Rings. After all, magic isn't a real thing.

"By the way, did you make sure to get our train tickets to the music hall?" Questioned Ricky as we headed out of our apartment. "I am not exactly fond of walking in the city of New York... These walkways are really damn crowded. It's far more than I had envisioned, too, when I was trying to move into the country, ya know." The Filipino added as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Relatable, honestly. Even when I kind of grew up in the big city here." I added as we both went into the elevator of the apartment complex. "So, mind telling me how you managed to get these tickets for Esmeralda's magic show? Didn't know you were a fan of this kind of thing." I asked with a small smirk while placing my hands into my jacket pockets.

Ricky just gave out a small laugh and a wink, "I have my ways, buddy. Let's just focus on enjoying the show we are about to see." He then began to show that there was something on his mind, "So... Have you heard about what this gal can do?" He asked with a cocked eyebrow in curiosity. "Think any of those rumors are actually true or not?"

Personally, I have given some thoughts on Ravenna's magic myself. I often have a habit of trying to rationalize the unexplainable, even when there are indeed things that are beyond the understanding of modern science and what have you. Yet, believing that something like magic is real is nothing more than a childish ideal. The world we live in is quite cold and rigid, with no room for childish beliefs like magic and fairy stories. Lately, even simple kindness as well as compassion. As time has continued to move on, I have learned the harsh way that trying to be noble will only get you screwed over. It is best to just look out for yourself, even when it is bitter for your soul to be that selfish.

On the train ride, I was standing while holding onto a pole to keep myself stable as the train made its way to the Music Hall and browsing through my phone. However, upon feeling a minor headache, I saw something extremely outlandish as a massive anthropomorphic Snake was running through the hallway of underground tracks. The Cobra woman was dressed in attire that was akin to something you would see in one of the Assassin Creed games and carried similar weapons. It seemed to look something like a female humanoid snake with a small degree of technological armor themed on a ninja warrior covered blades... Yet, a small fright and rub upon my eyes, they were gone. 'The Hell? Am I going crazy or something?' I pondered in my thoughts as the headache subsided. Yet... Something deep down told me that I wasn't seeing things from hallucinations and that something terrible was about to occur.
