After tonight

All of the children finished forming their cores, with the last being a boy named Damien. He was weak too, and was often picked on. He had a air talent.

The older priest clapped his hands and said "Now that everyone is done, we will be proceeding towards the pen. Whether you bond or not, afterwards you will join a team. The teams are the priests, which is us, that only a person with healing can join, the herbal team which focuses on non magic healing, the hunters that kills prey, the scout bring back news and also scavenges for greens, the crafters provide weapons and tools, and the beast tamers, which focuses on capturing and strengthening animals. They provide the animals people bond with. Please do note though that you don't need a partner to join the tamers, you do need one in order to become more than an apprentice."

Fia and the other kids followed the priests to the pen.

After this night, if anyone stepped up as a parent or as a mentor, that person would go home with them rather than back to the cave. Of course, if you had a good enough reason, you could reject that person. Tio whispered loudly to one of his minions "My dad said he would definitely take me in after tonight. He also said he was proud of his only son. He told me he doesn't even consider Damien to be his kid."

If parents didn't want their kid or were ashamed of them, they could just not claim them. Such thinking was normal. If they were weak, why would you want them? Damien obviously heard him and shrunk down even further.

"We're here" They had arrived at the pen which was a straight path from the temple. All of the kids shuffled into the pen, spreading out so if a beast came up to them it would be obvious.

" Ok, now if you want to bond with a animal, what you must do is either extend or flare your core. Flaring is easier but other animals could also accept, if they are close enough. Extending is much harder but also more precise. To flare your core simply push out using your mana. There are multiple ways of extending, just find how you do it. After you bond with an animal, you can summon them into a tattoo that will appear on you. The animals are trained not to hurt you, but if you attack them we cannot guarantee your safety. Now then, release the animals!"
