Jason vs Oscar

"Start!"

With the signal of mister Weaver, the football match started. Oscar gets the ball and rushed to the enemy goal. From the enemy team, someone with blonde hair tried to block his path but Oscar passed the ball to his teammate who is behind him.

The teammate who got passed by Oscar, Matt, quickly caught the ball and move towards the enemy goal. The same blonde came to get the ball but Matt gets past him in an instant with his footwork. But after the blonde two more people were blocking his path.

One of the two was Owain. He just rushed to Matt and before he could escape he get the ball. After getting the ball Owain moved forward. When Jason saw this he was surprised by it. they didn't plan it like this. In their plan, Owain was supposed to pass the ball to him if he caught it.

"Owain! What are you doing ?"

"Do not worry I will score a goal!"

"Is that so ?"

When Owain turned his head to answer Jason, Oscar came from his left side and got the ball back. Owain was shocked because he thought that Oscar was away from him. And Owain wasn't the only one who is shocked. Jason's mouth has opened agape. There was no sound coming out from it. Oscar's speed was beyond his expectations. For a few seconds, he couldn't comprehend what was happening.

It was reasonable for Jason to be this surprised. Because Oscar used mana on his legs and made himself twofold faster. Frankly, this was not without a cost. It put a strain on his legs and gave him slight pain. He knew if he pushed further he would damage his legs.

He rushed to the enemy defense and shoot the ball. With that, he scored the goal for the first time in this match.

With Oscar scoring a goal, loud cheering erupted from his team. With the loud noise, Jason comes to himself. He didn't expect this but he will not be affected by this! With just a one-score difference he won't lose his hope.

"I didn't expect him to be this fast."

"Yeah, me too."

Owain came to his side. Compared to before he was calmer and less arrogant, Jason thought. Maybe Oscar's fast movement turned down his arrogance.

"Still, he is nothing against me. It is time for me to get serious."

Or not, Jason thought. He feels like a headache coming for him.

"Were you not serious before ?"

"Of course. I would not play seriously against a bunch of children."

"We are at the same age."

"Tiny details."

Is this how Oscar feels, Jason thought. Feeling slightly guilty he turned his head to his team. His team was actually more powerful. It is time to use this advantage.

"Let's continue to game."

Their goalkeeper passed the ball to Jason. As soon as he gets the ball he rushed to the enemy field. He quickly gets past the enemy players.

"You are playing nice like always, Jason."

"Of course! I will show you what I can do!"

Jason was always faster than Oscar. Just a while ago Oscar used his mana to enchant his legs. He can't do the same right after the first use. So, Oscar couldn't stop Jason from passing him and later scoring a goal. Making the total score 1-1.

"Hey, Matt. Do you feel like we are just side characters in a battle between Jason and Oscar ?"

"What are you talking about, Rick? Did you hit your head somewhere ?"

"I am fine. Nothing different than usual."

"Sometimes it is hard to understand you."

"Perhaps."

The goalkeeper passed the ball to Oscar. He scanned the field with his eyes before moving forward. Jason and Owain were close to him. They were waiting for the slightest mistake from him so they can get the ball.

Rick was in defense of his two other classmates. Other than the goalkeeper he had three more teammates. One was obviously Matt. He could play forward but frankly, he would be overwhelmed by the enemy team. the other two are Lucas and Mason.

Mason was a good player but a slow one. On the other way, Lucas was fast but lazy. Lucas was also a good thinker. He quickly made a plan in his mind.

"Lucas, both of us will be forward. Matt and Mason, come behind us."(Oscar)

"What a drag..."(Lucas)

"Are you sure about this?"(Matt)

"...What are you planning?"(Mason)

"I want to try something. Mason, can you pass the ball to me from above them?"(Oscar)

"... I can. But Owain is tall. He can intervene with the ball."(Mason)

"If it's just a little while I can hold him."(Matt)

They were whispering while constantly passing the ball to one another. Lucas kept thinking for a few seconds. Picturing Oscar's plan in his mind.

"You better be successful."

"It is good for your health doing some sport, you know."

"Thank you but I am healthy enough."

"Whatever."

Lucas passed the ball to Oscar. As soon as he got the ball he rushed. He didn't use the mana this time too. He can see that Jason is expecting him the use his earlier speed. Unfortunately, his mana reserves can't support him too much.

With Lucas right next to him, Matt and Mason just behind. Owain tried to get the ball from him but he quickly passes the ball to Lucas. After passing the ball he didn't stop and move forward towards the enemy defense.

After getting the ball, Lucas stopped and waited for Owain to run towards him. When Mason takes a good position he passed the ball towards Matt. He quickly passed it to Mason. Seeing this Owain tried to rush towards Mason but Matt get in front of him and blocked his way.

"Move!"

"Nope. Can't do that. But we can sit and chat, if you want."

"What?!"

While Matt was distracting Owain Mason successfully passed the ball to Oscar, right above Jason's head. Jason was once again surprised. He thought that Oscar had a plan but just as he was about to interrupt him he heard Owain's shout.

Right after getting the ball Oscar enchanted his legs and shoot the ball. It was too fast for the goalkeeper to catch. He scored another goal. But he couldn't move for a few seconds.

'He couldn't have planned this far ahead, right?' Jason thought. Still glancing at Matt. He was sure that Oscar planned something about the distraction of Owain but it was hard to predict that it will also affect him.

'Damn! My legs!' Oscar thought. Using mana a second time strained his legs even further. Mana healing isn't working because there is no wound yet. He breathed slowly to calm himself.

"Match is over. It is time for the girls' turn."

A sigh of relief escaped from Oscar's mouth. The match was rather short but he knew that if it continued a little longer he wouldn't be able to play. 'I didn't imagine using twofold acceleration two times would cause me this much strain.'

He slowly walked out of the football field. While he was walking Lucas come to his side.

"To be honest, I thought that your plan was going to fail."

"...I can make miracles." 'With mana' he thought.
