Jason's Date; Surprise

Today is Saturday. The big day for Jason. And we, boys, have come to make sure his date is successful. Well, the truth is we are jealous of him. You know basic jealously of high school boys. Yes, we are jealous but we would rather watch him and learn from his success or failures. I never understand why the heck jealous boys would beat up their friends when they got girlfriends.

We met with boys at the square. There is only Rick, Matt, Lucas and me. We will observe them from a distance so we moved to a spot where we can't be seen. When we arrived there we found a suspicious-looking group of girls. They are the girls in our class and maybe some friends from other classes.

"Lydia? Leah?"

"Fue!?"

"Hue?!"

They didn't notice our relatively small group. When I recognized two of them I call out to them. They let out strange voices with a surprise. That was cute.

"Hi, Laurel. How are you?"

"Oh, Matt! I'm fine. What about you? What are you guys doing here?"

"I'm fine. We come here to tail Jason."

"Dude!"

How can he reveal our goal this easily?! He looked at us with a deadpanned face.

"Everyone knows why we are all here. I mean look at the girls they come here as twenty people and hide at the only spot where can't be seen by square. And our group is easy to read." (Matt)

"He's got a point." (Lucas)

He indeed does. So we all agree and start waiting for Jason and Hope from the hiding point. I took this chance to practice my Mana Eyes. There is a small crystal in my pocket, I took it in my hands and slowly draw mana from it.

Thankfully mana is invisible to the naked eye. My Mana Eyes are no different from my normal eyes to ordinary humans. But from my vision it's different. I checked it before with a mirror. My eyes glow with a blue light when I activate Mana Eyes. My vision gets better and sharper. Not to mention its ability to observe both mana and aether.

I observed many people come and go from the city square. This is one of the most popular places where people like to gather or spend time. There is a big park right next to this place. And there are arcades, restaurants, cafes and similar shops on the left street.

From the people I observed, I can safely say that there's no one with mana. But they have Aether around them. Some people have more Aether gathered around them compared to others. They are very few in numbers.

This is a surprising find. Some humans naturally draw Aether to their bodies. Well, it still can't interact with those humans. Maybe it's about their genetics? Maybe some humans have genes that can attract Aether and their bodies are adaptable to Aether. But then there is the question of why no one can use Aether?

Let's say some people could in the history of humanity. Then, why haven't their tales reached the present? Wait... What if it did? There is a lot of mythology throughout human history. And possibly well more like certainly, they didn't call this energy Aether.

What club Jason did mention to me the other day? Mythology Club was it? I can look into the various myths there. It can be useful. Spirits don't know almost anything about Aether. So Kairi can't help with this for now. I did say to myself that I would give up on Aether but it's too good to pass.

"Hey, it's already been an hour. Where are they?"

"...I think we were set up."

Nikki asked with an impatient voice. We are waiting for a long time and there is still no sign of either Jason or Hope. What Lucas said is probably true. Jason might set us up.

"Did we set up?" (Nikki)

"I can imagine him doing that." (Jason)

"We come here for just be set up..." (Rick)

Well, that's fine with me. Let's just go home!

***( Third person POV)***

"Jason Murphy, he managed the surprised his friends and set them up to wait somewhere else. But what is really surprising is who he went to date with."

A white-haired boy said slowly. His glasses were shining with the reflected light of the computer in front of him. No one could really tell what he was thinking with the indifferent expression he had.

"Who is it? Certainly, it must be someone important otherwise for you to distract yourself with someone other than our target of observation will cause you to... unwanted experiences."

"Geez, why are you sound like a third-rate villain? Anyway, the person he went with is Hope Marleen. Ring any bell?"

"...one of the bloodline holders?"

"Exactly. Now there is a weird thing. Part of her file is missing. So, we don't know which bloodline she has."

The white-haired boy said with a slight smile. He was observing the camera footage of the movie theater which Jason and Hope went.

"Keep observing her. We should fill the missing gaps in her file... I will later investigate who caused this miss."

"Yess, boss."
