Arriving The Secret House

I fought against a spirit and won. I also created a new element. And finally, by sunset, I arrived at the cave described on the map. It was surrounded by many different boulders. From afar it was impossible to notice the cave because of the boulders and the snow. There are also huge trees in the surrounding area.

"I must admit. This looks natural if you don't pay close attention. As expected of grandpa."

The entrance of the cave looks like a giant broken boulder. If I didn't know this beforehand I wouldn't able to find it. The cave is connected to the mountain so there is a space behind the entrance. It doesn't look to be going deep. This must be done by some illusion.

Wait, Uncle Zheng has come here before. So he should be aware of the supernatural. Or at least part of it. I slowly walked into the cave. As soon as I stepped into the cave I felt like I passed some sort of barrier. It was a weird feeling. I also felt my necklace vibrate. So that's what Grandpa Henry mentioned as "the key". It is literally the key to this barrier.

When I got past the barrier the inside of the cave changed too. Before I could see a wall blocking the view but now there is a clear exit at the end of the cave. So it really was some kind of illusion. I walked through to the exit and see something amazing. On the other side of the cave was a forest. It was bigger than any forest I have ever seen. It almost had no end as far as I could see.

This place is still green as though it's been spring. There isn't even a single snowflake. Lots of flowers and some small animals. The weather is warmer too. No one could make me believe this place is natural. I mean there are gigantic trees around and I can see a river at the corner of the forest.

"I want to learn how this place is maintained. It is simply amazing. The outside is freezing but here is still spring."

I can see a building a little away. It must be the house. But to think this place belongs to my grandfather is really weird. I already knew that he was somewhat related to the supernatural but this definitely exceeded my imagination. This place is like a separate dimension. I could use this place in the future for many things.

The building was a mansion. It was a three-story wooden building. Its outer design was pretty simple but quite nice nonetheless. Seeing this building I became emotional. This is the place my grandpa spends his time possibly building and spending most of his time in. Ever since he died I didn't miss him this much.

I pushed open the door. The interior of the house is decorated with many fancy pieces of furniture. He always had a bit of a showy side to him. Since it was already about to be night I looked for a bedroom to sleep in. The fight against that ice spirit really tired me. I need some sleep. As fast as possible.

I found a nice bedroom for myself in the second floor. It was bigger than my own bedroom back in the Daxhoull. There was a king sized bed in the middle of the room and another huge closet at the corner of the room. There was a commode at the right of the bed, a table and a chair at left of the bed.

I quickly changed my clothes and jump into the bed. Ah... It's so soft... And before I know it I was already deep in sleep. Next morning I opened my eyes to the sunlight peeking through the window. This sleep was more refreshing that any other sleep I ever had.

I stretched and got out from the bed. I should take a look around the mansion. I'm not planning to stay here for a long time but I might return here in the future so knowing as much as I can about here would be great.

The second floor had mainly bedrooms, five to be exact. There is also three different bathroom on this floor. The third floor had two different balconies and a big room. I think grandpa used this room as movie room. I wonder how many movies he has here? There is a big screen at the end of the room where movie could be watch.

The first floor had a big kitchen and living room combined. Two more bathrooms and a study room. Also there is a basement. I took a glimpse at the basement and it was the biggest library I ever seen.

"This place is amazing. Maybe I should move in here with mom after I'm done with everything back in the Daxhoull."

This place is surely more peaceful than any city I ever been. I don't know how but you can even see the sky and the sun. I should be inside the mountain but instead this place a wide open place with a giant forest inside.

I prepared something to eat with rations I brought with me. This is already fifth day of my travel. I didn't think it would take this long to arrive here. I called mom before leaving the city. I already told her there wouldn't be any signal up here so she shouldn't worry much.

I still need to return as soon as I can. I have to bring Mason back and can't leave Kairi defenseless for a long time. She still has Akane with her but as spirits are appearing left and right even she could get overwhelmed eventually. Well, I left a Exchange rune in the lake. She can use it to teleport to me if she ever needs to run away. I just hope she won't need it before I return.

I grabbed my breakfast and walked outside. At least while eating I can observe the surroundings. These trees are really huge. This three story mansion was easily dwarfed by them. They are just giant versions of the trees I saw outside world but way bigger. So they got bigger because of the influence of some energy or mana?

I already found things to research. I hope the journals grandpa left for me has some answers. Especially about death and how to defeat it. That's why I came here after all. Where would I keep my journals if I were the grandpa? The study room, of course.
