The charity gala Pt.1

Andrew held the passenger door for Devanta. Then he walked around the car and sat in the driver's seat. He once again looked at the back mirror to see Jackson's figure disappearing in the building. He couldn't let it in anymore and started cracking up.

"Wuahaha did you see his reaction to our little play? Ha ha ha I don't believe it. He is still the same as before. I told you, he has feelings for you." He shook his head excitedly and clapped his hands.

Annoyed Devanta rolled her eyes.

"Oh please. He sees me as his little sister that's all."

"That's what you think. I'm sure he likes you more than as a sister. But you know what. We will soon know what he thinks of you. Phase 1 of our plan has already begun." Andrew winked at her.

"Mhm yeah let's see. By the way, why are you picking me up? Didn't you have a meeting?"

"The meeting was finished early and I rushed here. How could I let the chance slip to slap our little prince in the face?" Andrew's grin widened thinking back at Jackson's angered face.

"Gosh you're so childish. Don't go too far. We still need him."

Andrew nodded, "Yeah yeah I know. Let's go home. I'm starving." He started the car and drove back home.

In the past five years the Scotts and Devanta and grandpa had lived together harmoniously. They now consider each other as family. After graduating Mr. Scott had send her and Andrew overseas to furthern their studies and he also allowed Devanta to start working at his company. Now she already worked her way up as the assistant of the CEO.

Today Devanta had visited her father's company for a very important meeting. Back then when Jackson couldn't kill Andrew, Francesco Machiavelli was forced to let that matter go and focused on pushing the Swan Group down the latter by more or less legal means. Both fighted over resources and power in the industry but up to today there is still no definite winner. That's why they agreed to feign peace and work together on a big project. To celebrate and mark their new friendship Andrew and Jackson as the official CEO's had to organize a charity gala. Everything was already set and it will start in three days.

Mr. Scott's health had gotten a lot better, so he decided to reappear in public again to back his son up.

Everyone in the media were aware of his appearance and speculated about his absence. A few photographers tried to sneak into the residence and take picture of Mr. Scott. They wanted to know why he suddenly vanished for a couple of years and now announced that he will show himself in the public as the supporter of the current CEO.

Right now when Andrew and Devanta drove back they could see some journalist and reporters standing in front told the gate and asking the gate keeper about Mr. Scott's situation.

Annoyed Andrew honked a few times and didn't wait for the gate to fully open but drove right in when there was enough space.

When he walked inside the house he sighed once again. Because the charity gala was nearing and Devanta also had to attend it, Mr. Scott called a few helpers to pick for her an outfit. He never had a daughter and was thrilled to dress her up. That's why he got a designer to especially design her dress but was never satisfied with the design. That lead to this situation. The whole living room was filled with different dresses and gowns. The designer brought his whole store with him to show Mr. Scott a variety of dresses. Today was the sixth day he came and he was at this point very frustrated. Not only was Mr. Scott hard to please but this grandpa also had to give his opinion to every dress he showed. At the beginning Andrew was amused to see this scene but now he also got annoyed. He stormed into the living room.

"Jeez how hard is it to find a dress? She is attending a charity gala and not the red carpet of the Oscar's. Dad seriously you are getting overboard."

"Son please let this old man enjoy this occasion. When do I have the chance to dress our little Devy up? I have to find the perfect dress for her. Don't you want that too?" Mr. Scott looked at his son waiting.

Devanta sighed and also stepped into the living room.

"Mr. Scott I appreciate your thought but this is going too far now." Then she looked at grandpa, " And you grandpa. Why do you have to even encourage him into this? The poor designer here has to suffer." Both men looked at each other. They simultaneously sighed and then looked back at Devanta with guilt.

They both apologized at the same time.

"We are sorry. We went too far."

Then Mr. Scott looked at the designer who was cowering in the corner of the room.

"I'm really sorry Mr. designer. I shouldn't be this picky and make you work this hard. I'm truly sorry." He once again looked at Devanta. "Devy I let you choose your dress. Pick whatever you like."

Relieved the designer stood up and walked to Devanta. "Miss please choose a dress." He looked at her pleading, fearing that the two men would make him work day and night again if she didn't choose a dress. At the beginning when they asked her what she liked she had answered 'Whatever I don't care. You can choose.' These two sentences had started this whole miserable situation for the designer.

Devanta couldn't help but laugh at the pleasing expression of the designer.

"Alright I choose a dress. Don't worry." She walked through the room to the various racks with dresses on it. At end she saw a rather simple but sophisticated dark blue dress. She picked it up.

"I'll take this." The designer's facial expression lit up. It changed from anxious to a bright laugh.

"A wonderful choice. I'll take your measurements immediately and get to work." He jumped around the room getting all her measurements and vanished with lightning speed.

Now that the dress-problem was solved everyone relaxed. In the middle of the silence a rumbling noise could be heard.

The source was no other then Andrew... or to be more exact his stomach.

Mr. Scott looked at him and laughed.

"It seems there is someone hungry. Let's go eat everyone." Grandpa, Devanta and Andrew and followed him into the dining room.
