Chapter 18🌪️🌪️🌪️

During lunch time that day, I joined Madeline's friends on their table.

They all had their food with them and I didn't, so I decided to go get mine from the lunch lady at the counter.

After I got my food ready, I was about to make my way back to my table but almost collided with someone.

"That was close." I said to myself after balancing my tray in my hands again.

"I didn't think pretty girls were allowed to be clumsy." the boy I almost ran into said to me.

I looked up to see Jake.

His Blonde hair was radiant and he looked handsome as ever.

"Sorry. I'm not usually this clumsy. Must be something about this school. Wait a minute, did you just call me pretty? " I said to him while smiling at him.

"Did I?" he replied and gave me a look before walking past me to the counter to get his own food.

I waited for him to finish up getting his food so I could follow him.

"You done?" I asked him when he came back with his own tray of food.

"Why are you still standing here?" he asked me.

"Waiting for you. Where are you sitting?" I asked him, looking forward to sitting with him.

"None of your business." he said to me.

"Come on, don't be mean." I said to him.

Why was he being cold to me, just after calling me pretty.

"Mean? Hm trust me, this is me being nice. I've told you to stay away from me for your own good and sanity. I'd listen if I were you." he said to me and walked away from me.

I watched him sit at the further most table at the back with two other guys and a girl. They were all from the fire clan.

I shamelessly with my head bent, went back to my table.

"Um what was that all about?" David asked me.

"What?" I asked him innocently.

"You were talking to the most hottest guy I can think of in this school. How did that happen?" Monique said to me.

Great even Monique is interested in the subject.

"Actually, to object, I think the hottest guy is Damon. Whom you also have a thing with!" Stacy said excitedly.

"She has a thing with Damon?" Monique asked Stacy.

"Yep. I saw them with my own eyes. They were really close to each other." Stacy said to her friends.

"Wow. How did you do it Cassie? Damon and Jake? The same time? This is new." Monique said to me.

"Okay first of all, I don't have anything with either one of them. Stacy, stop spreading false news. Damon was just helping me out with something, and Jake practically doesn't even like me so stop thinking things up in your minds." I said to them and focused back on my food.

"Really....if Jake doesn't like you, then how come he can't stop staring at you." David said to me and I almost choked on my food.

"What do you mean?" I asked him with a mouthful of food.

"Don't look now, but he's staring at you, or atleast our direction. He doesn't talk to any of us here except Madeline and Madeline isn't here so that's left to you." David said to me.

I quickly turned to his direction and our eyes caught each others.

He was staring already.

I looked at him for a minute before he looked away and I also turned back to my food.

What is with him?

"I don't think he was looking over here." I said outloud and continued with my food.

"How can you be sure?" David said to me and I shrugged.

After lunch time, I decided to go see Madeline's Mom. Hoping to see Madeline there as well.

I was passing many closed doors along the corridor that I guessed were all offices and came across a door that was partly open.

I decided to take a sneak peek.

I saw that dark haired middle aged woman who was also in my house.

She was with sage. It looked like she was scolding sage or something.

I remember getting pushed by a blast of water which I'm now sure came from her.

I tried to listen in to their conversation.

"I'm disappointed in you Sage. Like always. When ever are you going to make me proud? When are you going to grow up and be who you're meant to be? After everything I've taught you! How could you allow a petty girl from the fire clan defeat you in a common friendly duel. Are you that incapable? " the woman said to sage.

"There you go again, jumping to conclusions without knowing the whole story. She cheated okay? That was why she won. She cheated." Sage said to her.

"That even makes you more incompetent. You allowed a cheating girl to triumph over you, to shame you in front of everyone. It's a shame to have you as my daughter." the woman said to her.

Wait so this woman is Sage's and Damon's mother?

"Ofcourse It's a shame. It's not like i was expecting anything more from you and also Your words doesn't hurt me anymore. So go ahead and be disappointed, I don't care! " Sage said to her and the woman slapped her across the cheeks.

I covered my mouth with my hands to stop myself from gasping.

"You are a stubborn and disrespectful child. And you shall serve your punishment for being disrespectful." the woman said to Sage.

Sage didn't alter another word.

"Follow me. Now!" the woman said to her and made her way to the door.

Fortunately I was quick enough to divert my direction and made it seem like I was just entering the area.

I met both sage and her Mom face to face.

"Child. I haven't seen you since you got here. I hope everything is going well for you?" Sage's Mom asked me when they came close.

"Yeah. Everything is great. Thanks." I said to her awkwardly hoping they don't find out I was kinda eves dropping on them.

"It is good to hear. How are your lectures going with Mr Ken Griffey? Do you know what your powers are now? What is it?" Her Mom asked me.

I don't know why I was feeling intimidated by her. She talked so coldly, devoid of any emotions and it made me shiver.

"We haven't figured that out. Yet. But I'm hoping soon." I said and gave her an awkward smile and looked over to Sage, Who was looking at me. I couldn't place the look she had on her face but I'm sure she was picturing me suffering or something.

"It better be soon because we don't have the luxury of time to waste. By the way, where are you off to?" Her Mom asked me.

"To see Mrs Stone." I said to her.

"What for? Are you having any difficulties? You could come to me, if you're having any issues." Sage's Mom said to me.

I gave her my best fake smile.

"Thank you. I'll keep that in mind. I should go now....she's probably waiting for me." I said to her and gave Sage one last look before leaving them there and continued to Madeline's mom's office.

Both sage and her mother gave out the same aura of dominance and coldness.

Damon seemed different from them, warmer even.
