Radar vs All (I)

Elaine jumped down on the stage and ran towards her position. She stood in the middle of everything and waited for yhe mock battle to start

She closed her eyes and held the hilt of the rapier firmly. She concentrated deeply and assessed her Radar ability

It was then that Rue jumped down from the observation deck and walked towards Elaine. She holds a cloth on her right hand and an unusual looking headphones on her left hand

As Elaine was slowly increasing the radius of her radar, she scanned Rue coming towards her, so she opened her eyes and turned to look at her. Her orange eye became sinister green with a line revolving around the origin of the eye, like a radar

"Are you ready?"

Rue asked

"Yes..."

Elaine then focused on the eyepatch on Rue's right eye

"What happened to your eye?"

"Accidents happen... A chemical splashed on my eye and I lost vision for at least a week, maybe"

'That was a lie'

Elaine looked at Rue with cold eyes. By using the Radar ability for four years, she could tell if a person is lying or not when she has been observing people and analyzing their behavior

She could do this unlike earlier for Philip because her Radar ability is activated. She couldn't afford activating it earlier and for Philip and the others to notice it

Besides, this skill of hers is unknown to others, like Mark's skill to create fictional metals

"I see... What's the cloth and headphones for?"

"These are your restrictions, a blindfold and a noise cancelling headphones. This will remove your sense of sight and hearing so you will be able to use your Radar ability to the fullest without using your eyes or ears"

"Alright"

Elaine agreed with the conditions of the restriction. This method benefits her because it directly trains her ability rather than her senses added by the Radar ability

Once the training is over, her Radar ability will be stronger without her senses and it will become even more stronger with her senses, thus amplifying her ability and showing growth

Rue handed off the blindfold and headphones to Elaine. She both wore it and she couldn't see or hear a thing

She quickly expanded her Radar to give her the sense of sight and hearing back, even when mitigated

She could see and sense the entire stage around her. The field of view shows grids plastered on surfaces and more details grids describes complex objects. The view also updates every one second for now and the darkness around her is tinted with sinsiter dark green while the lines and grids are colored neon green

It was then that Sheena jumped down on the stage and stood on one side

"Elaine, what restriction do you want Sheena to have?"

A speaker resounded in the training room but Elaine had the noise cancelling headphones and Chris forgot about it

"Melee only"

Elaine answered nonetheless because her Radar reached the control room. This allowed her to read Chris' lip movement and made her understand that he was talking to her

Another reason is that she can scan the eyesight of eveyone that are looking at her. This shows a bright line aimed towards her like needles

With this, she can also see which part of her body is being looked at

So far, there are twelve lines that are directed at her. Some are looking at her blindfold at headphones, some are looking at her hands and shoulders, some are looking at her rapier, and two are looking at her hair from behind

But there are two lines that are unusual. One line was erratic in movement and the direction of the line that is pointing at randomly moves around the training room, like it was a glitch. It was then that the line suddenly curved and spiralling. This could only mean that their eyesight is being bent, like gravity is affecting light

Elaine thought that it was Justine's vision but after seeing the source of the line, it came from E-1

This made her creeped out and confused. Nonetheless, she remembered that she's an Enigma and ignored him

But, there is one line that's standing out for most of them. The line aimed for her chest, specifically directly at the center of her chest, at where the heart would be located

She found out that this line came from Philip and she couldn't help but frown. She is 15 years of age and it's weird for a 24-year old man to be looking on a weird spot

Of course, Elaine is misunderstanding because Philip is directly looking at her heart using Eye Vision and X-ray Vision. He wants to read her heart because Elaine is extremely suspicious based on his Body Language Translator ability, more suspicious than Chris' motive, Veronica's silence, and E-1's existence

Elaine then turned off the detection of eyesight from her Radar because this will cause her distractions

"Granted!"

Chris gave the go and forbid Sheena from using ranged weapons. Sheena diligently nodded and followed the order

"At the countdown from 3, the first mock battle shall begin!"

Sheena hopped in place to psych herself up. She flexed her muscles and shook her hands and finger. She also exercised breathing techniques

After a few seconds, she stood still and took a stance for preparation. Elaine however, stood still in the center with her right hand still on the hilt of the rapier, despite her seeing Sheena psyching herself up

"3... 2... 1... Start!"

Elaine vs Sheena:

Sheena dashed forward towards Elaine while looking around for a weapon to pick around

Elaine was aware that Sheena is looking for a weapon because her eyesight is falling over nooks and crannies behind obstacles and under debris

She also has scanned all the weapons in the stage and she knows the location of all of them with her ability. Therefore, Elaine knows when and where Sheena might grab a weapon

It was then that she began to move and run towards Sheena's direction. She brandished her rapier and prepared to strike at Sheena. Traversing the terrain is no problem for Elaine because she already scanned it like she can actually see it

A few seconds later, Sheena found a rusted metal pipe and picked it up. The moment she touched it with her specia gloves, the pipe was upgraded. The rust became jagged into sharp edges and fused into the body of the pipe. The pipe also became durable and spikes protruded from the sides

As soon as the pipe was upgraded, Sheena's danger senses spike and she twisted her body around and placed the pipe in front of her face

*Ting*

It was then that a pointy object connected with the surface of the pipe, between the jagged rust. Elaine's rapier stabbed at Sheena's pipe

Elaine was somehow filled with slight killing intent and this is how serious she's taking the mock battles. Sheena was taken aback by this and she felt a little bad

She then decided that she would reciprocate her feeling and become serious

She pushed the pipe away from her to push Elaine away from her. Elaine jumped back and lunged one more time towards Sheena

Sheena swiped the pipe to the right and diverted the trajectory of the rapier. Elaine stumbled forward towards her left and Sheena followed with a left jab aiming at Elaine's head

Elaine scanned the jab in the last second and tilted her head to the left to dodge the jab by a hair's breadth

Since Elaine is in an awkward position, Sheena took this chance to launch a knee strike to Elaine's right abdomen

"Gahaaa"

The knee connected and Elaine let out a painful shout. She then dashed backwards to increase the distance between her and Sheena

Elaine tried to regain his composure but a line of trajectory of a projectile appeared that is aimed for her head. She also just scanned the projectile flying at her in the last moment that is flying at 100km/h

She jumped towards her right and hid behind a wall to have cover from the projectiles

"Hey! I said melee only!"

Elaine shouted towards Sheena. She couldn't hear herself and assumed that her voice is loud enough

"This is a melee though?"

Sheena waved the upgraded metal pipe around her. Elaine could see her do it with her radar

"What's considered a melee and not a melee? I only used this melee weapon to strike a pebble at you"

Elaine bit her lower lip. She realized the flaw of the restriction condition that she have for Sheena

She said to only use melee and there should be no ranged, but that definition is removed when the melee weapon is turned into a ranged weapon. Examples are throwable weapons like axes are knives. Sheena can even throw swords if she wanted to

Sheena took advantage of this and upgraded the rusted pipe into a modified blowpipe

Elaine became angry. She doesn't want to be the weakest in terms of combat anymore. Even though she is very helpful when it comes to support and relaying information, she doesn't want to become a liability when combat has been engaged on the squadron

At least that's what her mind is saying. Her heart tells her otherwise

She condensed her radar until it only reaches Sheena. She could no longer see what the people in the observation deck and the control room is thinking

With her radar being condensed, the accuracy her scan is maximized and she can almost see like she's playing chess

She decided to go out of the wall and pursue Sheena head on. As soon as she turned around, she immediately tilted her head to the right and then a projectile flew by where her head was

She placed her hand once more on the hilt of her rapier and dashed towards Sheena. Her blindfold is glowing green because her radar eyes is spinning faster with an interval of 0.05 seconds

Sheena saw how Elaine wanted to pursue her, so she brandished the pipe and it became a melee weapon

Elaine ran as fast as she could and she unsheathed the rapier and aimed for Sheena's heart. Her killing intent is pouring and Sheena was alarmed

She had to comply

Sheena pulled back with the pipe on her side into a stabbing position. Sheena concentrated and ignore Elaine's killing intent

When Elaine entered Sheena's range with her rapier aimed at her, Sheena thrusted the pipe into the tip of the rapier

*Clang*

The two tips made contact and the rapier penetrated through a fifth of the length of the pipe before breaking because Sheena twisted the pipe which the teeth clamped unto the blade, thus breaking it. Sheena had already modified the pipe to be that way when Elaine was coming to her

Elaine was surprised, she wasn't able to scan the capabilities of Sheena's pipe and she made a fatal flaw. This just shows how experienced Sheena is when it comes to combat

It was then that she felt a cold sensation on her left cheek when Sheena placed the pipe next to her head, indicating that she won

"You did well!"

Sheena looked at Elaine with warm eyes and expected her to learn from this fight

However, Elaine is stunned with her eyes wide open. She couldn't believe that she lost and think that this mock battle is totally unfair

"That's the match! Sheena, get out of there immediately! Tenshi! You're up next!"

Without delay Sheena ran out of the stage and Tenshi descended several meters away from Elaine

Elaine scanned Tenshi and she snapped out of her daze. She will now prove herself by defeating Tenshi with radar alone, even though her rapier is destroyed. She then shouted the restriction condition for Tenshi

"No Order!"

Everyone agreed and the match started
