1 Peaceful Days

The Montalle barony was nothing note worthy in the world of nobility for the Lastrad kingdom, it was just a family that rose to nobility after one of their ancestors contributed greatly in a war for the current land of the kingdom and they didn't do much outside of producing some capable fighters every now and again.

But lately, no such thing has happened, the last two family heads were an ok territory lords, but their fighting prowess, the only thing the kingdom needed them for it, and the reason why they were put in the country side at the borders of the kingdom, has been diminishing.

Joshua Montalle could only lament and think of the worst for the future of his familiy when he looked from outside his window and saw his son going out with one of the maid to town.

If him and his father were the weakest in the Montalle lineage by far, then his son, his son would be an embarrassment to call a part of the family bloodline.

Sporting a crimson red hair and eyes, very rounded cheeks and a very fat belly courtesy of Joshua doting to much on him since he was young.

The result was the Montalle pig as the other territories started calling, possibly a move by other lords to try to make the Montalle family look worse and lose its nobility.

Joshua didn't hate his son, he really didn't, else he wouldn't let him keep that later of fat on him, but he can't help but worry for their future whenever he looks at him.

Looking back at the papers in his desk, multiple reports of monster activity rising across the territory, receiving even more news from the other aristocrats that the same has been happening across this kingdom and the neighbouring ones.

It was a sign of truly troubling things to come, which made staring at his son even harder.

"My lord, the skill awakening day is drawing nearer." And old man in a butler suit spoke up.

He is the head butler of the Montalle household, responsible for training any new staff and making sure the family don't face any problems in its daily activities.

"That is true Alexander, tell me...do you think there is a chance, a chance that Avery might have something deep within, something to turn the tides for this territory."

The butler stood silent for a moment, but his answer didn't take long to come out, neither did it have a hint of lie or sarcasm.

"I believe the young master has much potential to show, there is a chance."

Joshua couldn't help look back at the window, noticing his son entering the carriage with his maid and riding into the village.

"Oi, lily, did we bring my wooden sword with you?" The young noble asked of his maid, they both were of the same age but one was larger in volume than the other.

The boy was nome other than Avery Montalle, crimson red hair and eyes, a noble wear, and a fat belly he Carrie's around, the maid was lily, though the same age as him, she had better eating habits than him and thus she had as normal body shape, she had a smooth black hair flowing down to her shoulders and her eyes were a black jewel that sucked whoever stared at them into a trance.

She was a beautiful girl but she denied any such compliments, although if you were to ask the villagers of the Montalle territory they would tell you she is one of the most beautiful girls in the territory.

"I did, Master Avery." She responded rather quickly and elegantly, pulling out a wooden sword that looked like it had seen better days.

"Perfect! That idiot Luke won't know what hit him today! I've been practicing all day yesterday!" He roared as he shot up from his seat, fist raised to the air.

"By trained do you mean having a dream about beating Sasha, Master Avery? because to my recollection, you didn't do a single intensive physical labour involving the sword yesterday, nor the day before it or ever outside of your spare with him."

This immediately dejected him and brought him back to his seat.

"*cough* O-of course not, I definitely trained, definitely."

Lily couldn't help but lay a deadly gaze on him that continued to het closer and closer, making a shiver run down his spine and sweat of nervousness to flow from him.

"Arr you sure?" She kept glaring daggers at him.

"T-trust me!" He said as he immediately looked the other way around to not pay attention to her buring eyes.

"A-anyway, how long will it take before we get there?" He finally gathered enough courage to look back at his maid, but a person he truly considered a friend since their childhood.

"We're almost there, only 5 minutes left give or take." She stopped glaring at him and went back to her usual warm smile which made Avwry breath a sigh of relief.

"I guess I'll do some mental training before my next bout." He snarkly said before Lily shot back.

"So you're just going to nap until we reach our destination? got it."

This made made him choke on air and the sweat works began again.

He quickly pretended to fall asleep to ignore the gaze he knows all too well is cast on him.

In the village of the Montalle territory, there stood a kid, blue hair and eyes of diamonds that were solemnly closed at the moment, he sat quietly on top of a rock in the outskirts of the village, as if almost waiting for someone.

A girl with violet hair and eyes bordering on pinkish, she seemed to not focus on anyone nor care for anyone except for the boy who was sitting at the rock.

And another girl, she had a a flaming red hair, but not as red as Avery, her eyes were pure crystal blue and she was shyly reading a book while occasionally stealing glances at the horizon, almost as if waiting for someone to come as well.

After a few moments of silence where every one of these kids were busy with their own thoughts, except for the boy in blue who seemed to have no thoughts running through his mind at the moment, the all noticed something entering the other side of the village thanks to the vantage point the spot they were in provided.

A carriage has entered the village, the boy immediately opened his eyes with interest, the red haired girl was also gazing keenly towards it, while the girl with violet hair could only look and click her tounge at the revelation.

'He hadn't learned his lesson' she thought to herself.

But before they could see where the carriage stopped a small silhouette was getting closer to them.
