The Fantastic Tales Of A Jack Of All Trades

Are you sick of characters gaining supreme powers without earning them? Do you get sick of the phrase "A jack of all trades but a master of none?" Well I am! And as the author I welcome you to this wonderful book following the tales of Vincent! for once I'm gonna make a MC that isn't OP because some god made a stupid mistake or because they for some unexplained reason got a system out of nowhere (don't get me wrong i do genuinely enjoy such stories but recently I've gotten a bit tiered of such tales) in this story it will be earned! Practice makes perfect!

Chapter 18

As Elizabeth Entered the room she was surprised to see Vincent sitting with is eyes closed and his legs crossed. He had both his hands raised and about a cups worth of water seemingly glued to each of his palms.

Elizabeth: "Well Well Well it seems my student managed to learn magic while i was away."

She smirked at Vincent as she sat In front of him.

Vincent: "Teacher whats this spell called?"

Elizabeth: "You didn't learn this spell from any of the books i gave you and i doubt you learned it from elsewhere, also this doesn't look like any spell i know of thus it means you've invented a spell."

Vincent: "All i did was tug some water around, did i really Invent a spell?"

Elizabeth: "I know of similar spells that can reach a similar end result but they aren't exactly the same as what your doing. Some spells were invented multiple times as different people invented the same spell but lived to far away from one another to ever cross paths. As the one who invented this spell you do have the right to name it. Worst case scenario the spell will be known by two names but i really don't know of someone else who did the exact same as you so your probably the first."

Vincent: "Isn't inventing a spell supposed to be extremely rare?"

Elizabeth: "What nonsense is that. Most magic users invent at the very least one spell if not far more. Inventing a spell is in fact very common. In my opinion too common, because now we get all kids of spells with horrid names like 'Matchlighter of the seven great winds" Despite that spells name it dose very little and only creates a single spark that may or may not start a fire, but generally from my experience it fails more often than succeeding."

Vincent: "Teacher i have a question i am really curious about."

Elizabeth: "Than please ask"

Vincent: "What is magic, as in you and many others refer to it as one if the fundamental forces of the world I was never told what it actually was."

Elizabeth: "That's because magic is not one single thing, Magic is in fact a label used to refer to many types of unique energy's that can be found throughout our world. The definition of what is magic and what is not may change from place to place however most types of magic are accepted as magic near universally by everyone, the reason for it is the existence of all kinds of magic disrupting materials and magic disrupting energies that can counter or at least effect magic to a wide sense, some of the fundamental forces of our world that are not considered as magic are. Weapon arts and the Elements of the world."

Vincent: "So my magic and water elemental powers are different?"

Elizabeth: "Correct, while some magic may be mixed with elemental forces, which is a branch of magic known as elemental magic the two forces are in fact separate. Your spell works on water but it is unrelated to the water element."

After Vincent asked a few more questions Elizabeth started to aid Vincent in controlling his spell as well as testing his progress in his homework. By the end of the lesson Vincent could attract water to his hand considerably faster than in the past and his control over the spell had also vastly improved. He decided to name the spell 'Water Hook' as he used his fingers like hooks that grabbed the water vapor from the environment and pulled it to his hand.
