"You mean to fully evacuate Ronice?" said the mayor.
"My people can't stay here," said Leah, "and to leave you unprotected would only result in further disaster. But perhaps at the capital, the people of Ronice will find sufficient protection. When the original evacuation took place, you decided to stay in your city. I would have done the same thing. But now, things are different. The devils that tried to beat down your doors were but a taste of what may come. I will not force anything on you or your citizens. Ronice will decide Ronice's fate."
"We'll have a vote," said the mayor. "The remaining members of the town council won't be hard to track down-"
"Not the town council," Leah said. "The town guard and the soldiers who risked their lives and volunteered to protect your people-they have proven their loyalty to your city in word and deed. We'll put it to a vote among them."
