NO PUNISHMENT

"Neya, Are you ready for tomorrow?"Nahor asked.

"Yes I am.May I know why you ask?"Neya inquired.

"I haven't yet seen the gown and the jewellery that you are supposed to wear tomorrow. So if you have them. May I please see them?"Nahor kindly asked.

Neya felt like she was in big trouble. She was lying to Nahor that she was prepared for the next day and she had a gown and jewellery to wear. She had so many gowns but all of them weren't perfect for the next day's occasion. That's why she had called for Abyne so that she could help her find the right gown and the right jewellery to wear for the occasion. Her heart almost skipped a beat when Nahor asked to see her the gown and jewellery that she had arranged to wear for the anniversary. She didn't know what she was going to tell him. No excuse would work at that moment. She then gave up and decided to tell Nahor the truth. She had no other choice. She got ready to face his wrath.

Nahor looked at Neya as she boldly spoke. Even though she spoke so boldly. It was clear to him that she was lying. He just wanted her to tell him the truth. He didn't want her to lie to him. The only thing he hated and despised were lies. Lies were the cause of every bad thing that happened in his life. That's what he believed. Because lies brought forth betrayal and betrayal brought forth death. That's what he knew and that's what he kept on going by all his life. He hated lies and hated being lied to by people whom he trusted and cared about.He had expected Neya not be prepared for the anniversary . And since he wanted her to wear what he had made specially for her as a gift. He wasn't all that angry that Neya wasn't prepared at all.

Right before she had come he had called for the royal designer to come over to his room and bring the gown he had ordered to be made . He also brought the necklace and the ring. He wanted to surprise Neya that night with those. That's why he had impatiently waited for her. He wanted to gift her.

Neya. Ii want you to tell me the truth. Do you have the gown that you are going to wear for the anniversary tomorrow?"Nahor asked.

Neya looked so scared as Nahor asked her that question, She just couldn't hold back her guilt ànymore. "Nahor. Please take my apologies. For the past days. I have been so preoccupied that I completely forgot about the anniversary. I recently remembered when I had seen the palace being decorated. I was so confused on what to do. That's why I had called one of my maidservants to get their assistance. I had been searching for the perfect gown and jewellery to wear but I couldn't find it. That's when I found you here and everything is now complicated. I am very sorry Nahor. I will accept whatever punishment you have for me,"Neya said as she looked at Nahor wanting to see whether he was angry or not.

Nahor looked at Neya. He didn't know that his wife was so mischievous like that. He then tried to think about what Neya had just said. He was trying to figure out whether he should be angry at her or not. I mean she had completely forgotten about their anniversary. The only special day that came once a year. And on top of that. She wasn't ready at all. She hadn't found the right gown or jewellery to wear for the next day. He then thought it over once again. Why wouldn't he be angry at Neya. And another question that repeatedly circled in his mind. "Why should he be angry at Neya. He asked himself. He looked at Neya and she looked so innocent yet she was guilty. He looked into her eyes and saw regret in them.He looked at her and saw no fault in her.

In reality Neya was guilty. But Nahor couldn't only look on the bad side of the situation. The important matter. She had forgotten about the anniversary. But on the good side. She hadn't yet prepared herself for the next day. That was a good thing for Nahor. Because he now had the chance to give her the gown and necklace and ring. To Nahor this was an advantage. He would maybe let this matter slip off just for then. He was equally guilty as Neya because he had also forgotten about the wedding anniversary. If Neya was to receive any punishment. He too should receive one. He didn't have time for punishments or anything related to that. The only thing he was concerned about was the anniversary. He then made up his mind and thought to himself that there was no need to be angry at Neya only because she had forgotten about one day. Besides he had told her the truth and she felt guilty of herself and she was trying to find a way to make up for it. Why would he punish her. The only thing that mattered was that she was honest with him at the right moment.

He was happy that Neya had told him the truth because he didn't want to find out himself because that would make him completely angry. He put a faint smile on his face and then looked down at Neya.

Nahor's long time silence was making Neya scared. She didn't know why she had just told Nahor the truth. Everything would go well if she had just kept quiet. That's what she thought. She didn't want to lie to Nahor and neither did she want to tell him the truth. She felt so guilty that she realized that she had already blurted the truth out. She felt so guilty at first and now she was feeling so scared. She couldn't even imagine what Nahor was going to do to her. Forgetting the one special day in his life. Nahor still hadn't yet said any word. She thought that he was thinking of a hard punishment to give her. She didn't know what he was thinking but she probably knew that her time was up. She didn't know why she got herself into this mess.

She was still thinking when she heard his voice. She now got ready for the worst. She didn't know what Nahor was going to do but she was ready to face anything.

"Neya. I cannot believe that you were so courageous that you dared lie to me. This is the last time I repeat myself. I do not like lies and I do not want you lying to me ever again. If I ever get to know that you have been dishonest with me. You will pay dearly. I hope you understand me. And another thing. I am happy that you told me the truth. I do not find it fair or right if I punish you because I am as equally guilty as you. To be honest I also did forget about the anniversary. But that is all the past. I am glad you tried to make up for it. There is nothing to worry about. Everything is planned and nothing is going to ruin the anniversary for tomorrow. And about what you are going to wear.
