The Eye of Destiny

As the illusory figure went into Kayson's body, the faded colours of the world started to come back. Wind blew. Birds sang. Everything became normal. The only odd thing was the silvery glow covering Kayson's body.

Bathing in the silvery glow a strange phenomenon took place. All the broken bones and wounds on his body started to heal. His pale complexion slowly returned healthily. The white light, the initiator of all this gradually retreated into his glabella.

"Mmmh…" After some time, he gradually stirred up.

He checked himself and the surrounding in a haste then started laughing like a mad man.

"Haha… Looks like it worked! I'm a genius! This time none will be able to limit me! Haha… Ouch…!!" As he was laughing, a sudden spike of pain struck in his head.

"Arg… Damn! What a scary experience! Merging two souls is not entertaining." He sat on the ground and rested a while giving time for his soul to adapt to the new conditions.

He observed the lushness of his surroundings. For a normal person, the planet Green Giant might be a fertile planet but not to him.

"Back to rural areas, I guess! Qi energy is so faint… It'll take some time to gain strength and escape this barren land."

As some time passed away he felt his soul condition was stabilizing. Even though his past self did lots of experiments regarding soul merging this was the first time an aged version of a soul merged with its own younger counterpart. Therefore, understanding what changes took place in his soul was a must.

"First things first."

He closed his eyes. All distractions faded away. The only thing that mattered was himself. He became the center of his concentration. All his awareness focused on his consciousness. A visualized state of his consciousness appeared on his mind.

Once cultivators reached the nascent realm by breaking through the ninth level of the Elementary level, they could observe the condition of their consciousness and body by using their soul perception.

The skillfulness varied from cultivator to cultivator. Most of the cultivators were only able to sense their state as a fleeing feeling at the beginning whereas a small portion of innately gifted cultivators could visualize their state right at the beginning of the Nascent realm. These are the cultivators who were selected for soul cultivation.

After the soul-nourishing process of the nascent realm, a cultivator was needed to connect their soul with the qi sea or the dantian, to enter the origin realm. In the Origin realm, soul perception ability would be evolved into soul sense.

With soul sense, they could perceive the world more profoundly.

Even though Kayson was only a third-level Elementary Realm cultivator, after merging with his older self his soul strength increased tremendously. So he was able to utilize one function of his soul artifact Mind's Reach to amplify his soul's perceiving and sensing ability.

Mind's Reach could increase the perceiving and sensing ability of his soul to a terrifying level. The reason the eight Sacreds were so cautious around him was due to this ability.

They didn't know how he did that. But what they did know was that he could cover a whole galaxy in the high immortal realm with his soul sense, if he tried.

In his consciousness, Kayson saw a boundless sea covered with mist. Only a small area was clear in the middle. He saw there above the misty sea his soul artifact, The Eye of Destiny! It was a green orb embedded with silver patterns in the shape of an eye.

It emitted a soothing white light that illuminated a small area of the misty sea.

As Goddess of Fate stated he used a World Seed of the World Tree as raw material. To collect that he had to went through countless struggles in the world of Beyond. How he collected that, is a story for another time.

Within The Eye, he stored his three eons worth of memories and knowledge. Since the world seed was a timeless treasure from the prime originator of the cosmos, the World Tree itself. Cosmic time laws had no effect on it.

"Cosmic laws will be angered to no end when I'm reaching the Nascent Realm. It will probably hit me with a couple of extra lightning. Hahaha…"

The Eye of Destiny still was not connected to his consciousness properly. To gain adequate control of its functions, he needed at least to reach the nascent realm.

Then he laid his palm on the Eye of Destiny. Just with a touch, his mind received a detailed condition of the artifact. Almost all the useful functions were locked. It was understandable due to his minuscule soul power it was impossible to utilize the artifact.

But he was still able to go through all the memories he stored within and confirmed they were remaining intact. After confirming the artifact was not damaged due to the recent time jump he felt presumptuous.

"Clearly, the greatest artifact within three realms! Am I not the best artificer of the cosmos…!?" He was so egotistical even to be fascinated by his own work.

Next, he directed his soul perception to observe the condition of his body. What he saw made him furrow in displeasure. It was the reflection of the sad pitiful life he led as a naive child. Getting bullied and harassed by everyone. None cared and neglected.

There were many anomalies in his body. Few bones cracked bones that did not fuse back perfectly. Blocked meridians and most importantly, a sealed spirit root!

"Well… Well… Well… An ice elemental sealing formation. Quite the primitive and poor one at that. Tch… My ruthless mother was not very gifted with formations though."

His old self might not know why he couldn't cultivate. But now with his future memories, he already knew everything. Where he was born? Who were his parents? How did he end up here? Who was the drunkard, he addressed his 'Uncle'? He knew all of them.

As his spirit root was sealed he couldn't gather qi energy as such he couldn't advance past the third level of the Elementary realm. To survive in this ruthless world, he needed power. Therefore, unsealing his spirit root became his highest priority. But there was a problem.

"But to current me, it's still a challenge. I have to use that thing to unseal it, even this time."

Then he looked towards the west. In the distance there stood an enormous volcano that went dormant hundreds of years ago. Locals called this the 'Clouds Peak' since the peak of the mountain reached the clouds.

Looking at Clouds Peak he remembered somewhere in the future, his gravely wounded body will be thrown into it. At that time, the only thing that kept him alive was his luck.

Due to that luck, he met with a fortuitous encounter in a cold drenched cave and managed to unseal his spirit root accidentally. Then he remembered how he braved the whole jungle to reach the next city and escaped from the planet like a coward.

That thought alone angered him to no end. "Last time I ran away like a dog with its tail its between legs. This time… this time though. I'll eradicate the whole Shi family. Not a single soul will be left when I'm done with them. Not even a child!!!" He sounded like a true villain.

He sighed and calmed down. He got up and picked up his knife, bow, and the few arrows that were scattered over the ground.

He started his journey toward the Clouds Peak in a haste.

Revenge on his mind!
