Just Smile and Wave

It was then the next day. Today was the day we are going to complete sin greed. It basically means that you shouldn’t be too greedy. That should be easy. I am confident that nobody is going to die, but I can feel something bad is going to happen in my guts.

I got up from my bed since I had barely woken up. It was currently 6:30 am which is 30 minutes before breakfast. I took a quick shower since I had a little bit of time to get ready. It was already 6:55 causing me to brush my teeth real quick and head over to the cafeteria.

When I headed over I grabbed myself some food and went to an empty table since Alijah and the others weren’t there. Minutes have passed and there was still no sign of them. I decided to let it go until Keon sat in front of me. I raised an eyebrow. It was unusual for him to sit with me especially after what happened days later. If he came here to tell me that he is friends with The Devil and murdered everyone I wouldn’t be surprised. He looked at me and decided to speak up.

“Look I know you hate me with your guts but I have to tell you something important,” he said.

“It better be important,” snapped.

“You may be wondering why the others aren’t here,” he said.

“Yeah, and why do you know this,” I asked.

“You were looking around the whole cafeteria for them. It’s obvious,” he said.

“Ok that’s true but continue,” I said being curious about what he’s going to say.

“They decided to escape without you even though you're good at picking locks and robbin stuff,” he said.

“How do you know this,” I asked.

I’m surprised they decided to escape without me. I mean we have only met this week but I could be a big help. They are probably lost. When we go to our task the staff is going to notice that they are going. They take attendance every day. If they really want to get out of here they should’ve done it when the 7 deadly sins were over and the time machines were about to start. I should probably start planning my escape. I’m going to do it alone though. I don’t want Keon escaping me unless he is still friends with The Devil and somehow the devil is letting him.

“I overheard them talking yesterday. They already had another plan planned. They said you weren’t worthy enough to help, so they just dipped,” he said.

“Wow,” I said.

“Look I am not looking for forgiveness or anything but do you want to escape with me,” he asked.

“Absolutely not,” I replied fast.

“Why not,” he asked.

“You snitched on them with their plan, threatened them, and hated me for no absolute reason,” I said.

“I’m sorry I did that. I just don’t really care about new people I met and do you even care about them,” he asked.

“Um no,” I said.

“Well then why won’t you let me escape with you,” he asked.

“I don’t know,” I said.

“You see. Just let me escape with you. I don’t want to escape alone,” he said.

“Fine,” I sighed.

I can’t believe I just let him escape with me. I mean I don’t really hate him that much and I really don’t care what he did to those people I met a couple of days ago. I guess I just hate him for no reason at all. It is all in my head. The thirty minutes to have breakfast were up and we had 30 minutes of free time. I stood up and threw the trash away. I was heading towards my dorm until I heard something on the intercom. They have intercoms here? This is basically like a school but way worse than that.

“Alijah, Keon, and Lexi can you please report to the library and everybody else stays away from there.” I am confused. Didn’t Alijah escape with them or did she decide to stay here while everyone escapes? What if she was the one who checked if security guards came and were unable to escape. I started heading towards the library until I heard the intercom again. “The tasks are canceled for today due to people trying to run away.” I hope they get caught. If they do get caught their lives will be miserable. That is exactly what I want for doing such a thing like that.

I arrived at the library seeing Keon, Alijah, and the teacher sitting at the table. I proceeded to walk there and sit down with them. The teacher had a very serious face. He looked at us and opened his mouth to talk.

“As you heard in the intercom people tried to escape from here. Those people were the people who were with you guys playing that boring board game. I came here to tell you guys that we are still going to be in the same class but it is just going to be the three of you. Just do what I say and you guys are going to be fine. Do you guys understand,” he said.

“Yes,” we all said in unison.

“Alright we will start tomorrow in the same classroom as last time,” he said. He then stood up and looked at us. “Don't be late,” and just like that he left.

We all stood up and started heading walking. Keon went in another direction while Alijah was following me.

“Hey, Lexi,” Alijah said, trying to catch up to me.

“Yes,” I said turning around.

“I just wanted to say that the reason they didn’t want to escape with you is that they said you were bad at it,” she said.

“I know,” I replied.

“I stayed back because I knew they were wrong and they are probably going to do the same thing to me,” she said.

“Oh,” was all I managed to say.

“Yeah I think they got caught,” she said happily.

“Really,” I said, bringing my hopes up.

“Yeah they are bringing them to a place where it is worse than here,” she said.

“When,” I asked.

“In an hour. We can actually watch them get deployed,” she said.

“Do you want to go watch them laugh at them,” I said with a devilish smile on my face.

“Of course I do,” she said with excitement.

Alijah said if we could go to her dorm and I said yes. She told me everything about their plan and how they were going to explain it. Honestly, their plan was very bad. No wonder they got caught easily. The worst part is that they were doing it in plain sight. IN PLAIN SIGHT!! Security guards were watching them and I think they must have thought that they would let them slide. They are very dumb for thinking that.

Alijah and I were mostly talking the whole time about ourselves. I found out she is double-jointed and can do very weird things with her arms. It was already an hour and we desperately went to the place they were being deployed. There was already a group of people there waiting to see who was the ones who escaped. We could barely see anything so we managed to go to the front to see.

A door opened revealing Arlette, Mia, and Gissell handcuffed from their arms and legs. Do they seriously need all of that because by the looks of it they look like they are scared to try to escape again? They started walking them to another room which I’m guessing is the lace they're going to.

They saw us which then Alijah whispered to me “, just smile and wave.” I did what Alijah told me causing them to get mad and Arlette decided to spit at us. Alijah and I just laughed at how mad at us they are. It just caused them to get angrier.

The guards opened a door sending a wave of heat in my face. I looked inside the door seeing that it was very dark with a raging fire in it. Guards then came out of that with coal all over their faces. They had pickaxes on their hands which they soon handed to Arlette, Mia, and Gissell. They forced the girls to enter the room which they entered without hesitation being scared of being hit or even worse.

A random guy came and proceeded to talk. “This is what is going to happen to you guys if you disobey us or try to escape. They are going to mine coal for us for 5 hours straight. Some people don’t make it by the harsh punishment and work there. It is also 98 degrees Fahrenheit or 36 degrees celsius. If you try to do anything stupid think again because there will be punishments.” Just like that, the guy left and soon other people left the area.
