FACE TO FACE
Rayna who was watching Simon without batting an eye was interrupted by "ahem" sound made by James who was clearly holding back his laugh she averted her gaze instantly from Duke and went straight onto her knees she couldn't see their reaction as she was basically already burrowing herself on the floor then she said " i am so so sorry my intention was not to drug you i was forced by my father so please forgive me".At this point she has already destroyed her dignity because survival was the most important thing to her right now .
Her plan was simple she will firstly apologize to the duke then behave like a proper duchess as well as cut all the ties with count mayer and try to gain his affection little by little before the heroine enter the story and even if she is not able to win his heart she will leave silently without harming anyone if he says her to , this thought made her a bit uneasy but that doesn't change a thing in the end her mission is to survive and if that's how it's meant to be then be it.
Suddenly someone chuckled above her , she slowly raised her head and saw The duke's handsome face which was full of pride and didn't show any other expression this irked her and she barely stopped herself from blurting out cursing words at him "such an a**hole how could he not show a bit of sympathy when his wife is on the floor begging for forgiveness" she thought to herself while faking a fearful face on the outside and as if understanding her thoughts the duke started laughing out loudly "Your eyes could barely hide your anger , they are glaring at me as if they will bore a hole in me and you are making your face like a scared cat this is really entertaining" he said while asking James to get her up with his eyes from the floor James who was standing quietly obeyed and again went to one corner of the room after helping Rayna.
Rayna thanked James for his consideration not knowing that the duke ordered it as she was too busy getting annoyed at the duke
" At least his right hand have some humanity left in him and helped me unlike this man who is saying my attempt to survive is Entertaining! he is such a jerk and do he have some kind of psychic powers that he is able to know my inner thoughts and what does this beast meant by me being a cat 😠" as she was deeply and quietly cursing him inside her head he stopped laughing and suddenly asked her an unexpected question in a serious tone
"how did you became a totally different person in such a short span of time , you were so scared to look at me in the eyes and trembled all the time during the wedding and now you are even glaring at me what made you change so much? do you not fear me anymore? ".
Rayna didn't know how to answer his questions as she wasn't the one who had gone through this, for once she thought he might realize that she isn't the real Rayna but she knew that other than their meeting at the wedding they didn't meet for once till last night so she replied calmly , this time she looked straight into his eyes and replied "That time i didn't know you and my marriage was with the cold blooded tyrant so it's natural for me to fear you but now i don't fear you because a....a...a.. you are handsome and i liked doing it with you"
*'i don't know what i am saying anymore 😱 this is so freaking embarrassing😫'* she thought .
"And as for my change it just happened"
*'what am i saying😭 death is on it's way now goodbye world😇'* Rayna's head was ringing with warnings.
She knew that she just made many lousy and embarrassing explanations but she failed to make any reasonable explanation with his sudden attack of questions. As she was waiting for the worst possibility a heartily laughter could be heard and he said "although changes that can make a person change this much is not possible... " .
Rayna was scared and thought she will be exposed but he came to her ears to complete his sentence and whisperedin a soothing voice "but i will believe you since i like this version of you " and kissed her cheek Rayna shocked from his statement before now blushed from the kiss , this made Simon unknowingly excited.
Simon asked everybody to leave the room Rayna wanted to ask if he forgive her but choose to stay silent as she might get a chance again in future for now she was satisfied with today's conversion and she said "I hope you rest early and don't tire yourself too much from work" and turned around to leave when he suddenly grabbed her hand and said "I sure will leave earlu since my wife will be waiting for me, wouldn't she? and as you said earlier you liked doing it with me didn't you😏" he smirked at her and Rayna turned into a ripped tomato.
