Chapter 1: The beginning

NME 00121, the time where technology advanced to a new point, where new histories were written and all of the earth countries uses the same currency known as credits. On NME 00126 April 16 a new era would again occur. An era where it's dominated and centered around a virtual reality game called 'New World Legacy' bringing about new change and status quo all over the world. This is a story about how a certain individual that would rise to the top.

[NME 00126 April 16 11:22AM, 38 minutes before 'New World Legacy' is released] a young man in his Seventeenth with short black hair and a well built body currently in bed with his eyes closed, his name is Drake Althum.

*Ring* 

His phone started ringing but the young man was still sounded a sleep.

*Ring(13x)*

His phone started ringing aggressively until the young couldn't ignore it anymore, he open his eyes, picked up the phone and answered the call.

"Hello?"

"WHERE ARE YOU!? ITS ALMOST TIME!"

As soon as he answered the call he was shouted with a familiar voice and instinctively back away his phone from his ear before putting it back again.

"John whats wrong what are you talking about?"

The other end of the phone was his best friend John Xanders, they first met during their highschool days and since then they've been best friends and sworn brothers more than 4 years.

"Are you kidding right now have you forgotten already!?"

"Forgotten about what?"

"For fu- todays the day of New World Legacy is gonna be released and its 38 minutes before they can actually sell it!"

As John said the words through the phone, Drake who was laying in bed jerked up realizing today was the day that the game is gonna be released!

"SHOOT I FORGOT I'LL BE THERE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!"

"Then hurry up and dont be late or it will all be sold out!"

"OK!"

As soon Drake hangs up the phone he got up and started cleaning himself, wore a fresh gray shirt and black jeans, it took him 15 minutes to get himself ready. He looked at the time and saw it was 11:38AM.

'Time to go!'

He said so in his mind. He took a ride on a taxi and it only takes him 21 minutes to arrive from where John's at currently, he sprinted towards the meeting place, he soon saw the game store and saw John standing in line with hundreds of people waiting in line as well. Catching his breath Drake approach John and John saw Drake approaching him.

"Hey your almost late its 11:59AM already!" John sighed a relief that his friend made it.

"Sorry took me a while to get here." Drake apologized for making his best friend wait and worried.

"Anyways im glad you made it, OH it looks like it has begun!" As he said so the cash registers started to work one by one.

"Alright!"

For several hours waiting in line they have finally bought the game. As soon as they go outside the store they noticed immediately that its already night time.

"Damn we were in there for so long its already night time." John said as he looked up at the sky and breathing the cold air.

"Thats for sure."

*Grumble*

"..."

"..."

"Wanna buy something to eat?" Drake says as both of their stomach was empty

"That sounds great"

For a while they look for a food stall to eat and found a local bbq, after ordering they chatted for the meantime.

"Hey Drake have you heard that this game is completely different from other virtual reality games?" John said.

"Really what so special about this one?" Drake said raising an eye-brow.

"Well according to online information and other leaks, the alpha & beta testers revealed that you can actually use your natural senses and move your body just like in the real world inside the game!" John says enthusiastically.

After hearing this Drake could not believe what he just heard, immediately Drake asked John "How is that possible John, theres no way that true?" Drake said while being skeptical about it.

"Well I don't know about the details, but various leaks from the inside and even testimonies from others said it was true." John said smiling with an exciting tone.

"Hmm." Drake was still not convinced. Still John continued to talk and chat more information related about the game to drake "I also heard that many major companies and workshops are investing a lot in 'New World Legacy', HECK even the biggest conglomerates are currently investing hard into the game!"

"Seriously?" Drake said in disbelief. He is basically saying that various organizations that has a network worth of hundred of thousands or even millions worth of credits are dumping their cash on a game. Its absolutely unbelievable! How could he not believe!?

"Come on man those are just fake news, be realistic and don't be fooled by those baseless rumors." Drake said taking those rumors as fakes.

"But its true look!" John said holding out his phone to Drake. Drake was currently scrolling and reading through his friends phone related to various companies that are investing on 'New World Legacy'.

"... Although it may be true, but what reason do they need to invest so much to a game that they need to sponsor or even make their own workshop?" Drake said as he pointed to to various article in Johns phone.

"I don't know, but we can only find out after we played the game!" John replied with motivation.

"Well if you say so." Drake with no high expectations was enjoying his time.

"By the way the servers will be official online when it hits 12:00 tonight." John said as he informed Drake when will the game will be fully operational.

"Well im still a bit skeptical about everything you just said and what is currently happening surrounding the game, but I'm sure we'll be seeing each other soon in the game HAHA!" Said as he raised a toast.

After eating their meals and chatted for a bit they said good bye to each other and go their seperate ways. At home Drake was tired from waiting and decided to freshen himself up and look at 'New World Legacy' official forum for other useful information.

Sometime later at 12:00 tonight when New World Legacy servers officially opens, Drake as he wore his Virtual Helmet he just bought on his head and lays down on his bed.

"LOG IN!"

As soon he said the words his mind consciousness started to travel to the network until its completely dark, a second later a new sight entered his view.
