Like everyone else in the church, the angel had been on high alert ever since the war erupted, and they found themselves on the losing side. It was no wonder his senses were so heightened that he immediately detected the subtle streams of light moving through the corridor. His perception was razor-sharp, and his nerves stretched thin like a tightrope.
He was about to scream, to sound the alarm when he felt the soul aura of one of the angels who had left to set an ambush but whom everybody thought was dead. Confusion assaulted his mind. Just as he opened his mouth and was about to act, the stream of light flashed forward. A palm landed softly on his forehead, sending waves of energy that took control of his blood, transforming it into restraints that left him unconscious before he could send any type of message.
